Problem adding second optical drive to Mac Pro 1.1

So I had this internal blu - Ray drive today

http://eShop.MacSales.com/item/LG/WH16NS40MP/

Everything has been installed correctly, save for splitting the tab that does not have the video card in place (Fortunately it should still work from what I see).

Anyway, when I put the drive in, the Bay does not go to bottom, as he is catching on something. The cables appear not to be in the path, so Indon't know what I am doing wrong. What should have taken an hour has now become a job all day, that nothing seems to work as the drive Bay is do not rinse. Attached photos. Anyone able to help? It's my main computer, so have it running it is imperative to adapt. Ugh.

You posted pictures of the end of the cable, but he said you didn't think that was the problem.

What happens at the front of the enclosure?

Have you removed the front of the drawer so that the reader would fit properly? These discs do not fit if you leave this on the disc drawer front. Compare the fronts of the two drives, and it will come to you.  (pray it just remove gently, then the blades pointing upwards or downwards to remove). You may need to insert the ubiquitous folded paperclip and open both drawers to see the problem.

  • XPS 8500 added second HDD and second optical drive

I'll order a XPS 8500 with a HARD drive and an optical drive (at the same time TBD).  I'll add an additional HARD drive and an additional optical drive.  If I understand correctly, there one Sata3 connector which I assume is already occupied by the main HARD drive.  There should be three Sata2 connectors, one occupied by the primary optical drive.  The remaining Sata2 connectors are available for my new additions?

What additional data / power cables will I need?

    Thank you!

    Hi Husker77,

    Welcome to the community.

The system has two bays of 5.25 inches for loading tray SATA DVD +/-RW or Blu - ray drive (option) disc (optional) writable Blu - ray disc and two Bay 3.5 inches for SATA hard drives (internally accessible).

An mSATA SSD drive (available internally). There are four connectors 7-pin (1 x SATA III, 3 x SATA II) where you can install the drives. A SATA 3 connector is occupied by the main hard drive and a SATA 2 connector is occupied by the optical drive. So yes, you can install a secondary hard drive and an optical drive in the system. Power connectors, ideally it should be there in the Tower system, however in case they are not present, you may need to power connectors to be ordered separately.

Let me know any conclusions, glad to be useful.

  • No sound optical input on Mac Pro

I'm working on some problems with my optical sound system, and I have a recorder DAT Sony outlet in my Mac Pro, Late 2010 5.1 Sierra running. I bring the signal of the DAT, via an optical cable in the Mac - I get a visual cue on the sound preferences - but not his actual computer, any output, I try: internal spkrs, Line out, Digital out, bar his monitor, or Bluetooth headset. That is what it is? I trashed preferences sound and zap the PRAM. No change.

Hmm... It is of course odd. If you hold down the option key and click on the speaker at the top of the screen icon, you should see a list of all the available audio inputs and outputs, you can also find it under system preferences > sound

other this, try to pull the Audio high noon and see what she has set, sometimes, strangely enough, IT Gets the value to something weird like 96 khz or line output, or some of these.  except that, depending on the application you are using, you may need to edit the record source and to ensure that play through is committed. your device should appear if all goes well. I think it must be configured as 44 kHz or 48 khz

  • XPS 8700 adding Second hard drive

Hello - I bought recently for a XPS 8700 and I would add a second 1 to HDD - like this:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822148840

This HARD - ST1000DM003 - drive looks identical to the factory installed HDD in my XPS 8700 - SCSI\DiskATA___ST1000DM003-1CH1CC47

Is - this HARD drive identical or close to my OEM HARD drive?  That's fine with me.  I didn't need a lot of space - just need a backup disk.

1.) do I need a HARD drive caddy any?  I did not open the folder again. I do not believe after looking at manuals online, but wanted to be sure.

2.) these screws will work to set up the second HDD in the cage?

3.) cable SATA which should I buy?  Manufacturer, length, type, etc.

4.) is feeding OK with respect to capacity with a second HDD?

    Thank you. !  Sam

Update - I installed the internal hard drive, which I purchased from Newegg.  8700 XPS recognized the drive.  All I had to do was to format the drive.

Here are the things I bought.  The XPS 8700 is equipped with a stand to hold the second hard drive.  Thanks Bev.

  • Dell Optiplex 755 adding second hard drive

I have a Dell Optiplex 755 and I would like to add a second hard drive (160GB 3.5 "SATA Hard Drive Western Digital WD1600AAJS) to have more space, because I think that the stock 75 GB is not enough for me. So I wonder if I need a new power supply or additional data and power cables.

    Thank you.

The mini tour has two positions for the drives.  See the manual...

Yes, you will need to provide a SATA cable

  • Pavilion dv7 4053 cl: Pavilion dv7 4053cl adding second hard drive

I replaced with success the stock HDD in my laptop with an SSD.

I want to continue to use the old HDD in the laptop well, and it seems that I have a second drive Bay HARD in which HARD drive can adapt. I have not, however, see a SATA connector on the motherboard for a second HDD connection.

There is a SATA connector to the disk HARD primary (symbols of disc 1, marked on the plastic) and there are two connectors near the RAM, which seem not to be SATA, and my optical disc drive is connected.

Am I missing something, or is there is no place on the motherboard to connect a second HARD (well, or SSD) via SATA drive?

I do not ask for help more, but I'm missing something.  I got the correct drive WD HD 80 MG to add as the second disc.  I installed and everything, but the system does not show it.  I tried installing and when I try to choose a second drive, when it reboots it says secondary drive 1 invalid.  The poster secondary drive 0 as the CD-ROM Setup program.

The drive came with no sntructions.  If a jumper PIN must be changed?  The CD is the problem?

  • Problem adding second e-mail in Thunderbird

I have two emails, both from Gmail. I was able to add one successfully but when I try to add the other one can't. I get the message 'user name' or invalid password. I know that I entered both correctly, as I went to Gmail and connected with success here.

Thunderbird is already configured as an IMAP and as I said I have a Gmail address that is successfully installed.

    Can anyone help?

    Tisha

@Matt I found the only solution that seems to work so far. Which has been turn off a feature (sorry can't think what it name) which makes it safer. I did this because I have received emails from Gmail, saying they were blocking access to the account as Thunderbird was not a "secure messaging software. Why I had this problem only with my second email is beyond me. At least it is now resolved. Thanks for your quick response and willingness to help.

  • Problems adding a hard drive to a Windows 2003 client

I am trying to add a hard drive to a guest VM on a host running ESXi 4.1.0 standard. It is a historical system that we must keep and maintain for another 1 & 1/2 years. There are 15 comments on this host.  The local database has 1.63 TB of storage with 868,85 Go free. All comments thick supply usage.

The prompt, I work with is a Windows 2003 R2, 32-bit, Service Pack 2, Standard Edition.  Currently, I have two drives C: = 80 GB, & E: = 20 GB. I am trying to add a third hard drive of 300 GB.  When I try to add the 300 GB drive, I get the following error message. "Disk capacity was not properly formatted or was out of reach.  It has been replaced by the nearest acceptable value. " Value, it is replaced by what is 256 GB.

I used the same Windows operating system to create three other similar servers with the largest hard drive = 100 GB C:, E: = 100 GB, & F: = 1.5 to.  Microsoft's web site, said that this operating system can handle 2 TB of storage.  The only difference with the other hosts three, that's they run vSphere 5.5.

The size of the block of your VMFS datastore is the limiting factor, the bottom suggest that your datastore to VMFS-3 has been configured with 1 MB block size where the maximum virtual hard disk and the file size would be 256Go.

  • Adding second drive of DVD to H8-1234.

The H8-1234 has an open slot and a power connector of alternatives for adding a second DVD player.  However, the existing SATA cable has only one connector. HP offers a cable two connector? Can I use a SATA cable two connectors "generic"?  Finally, the H8-1234 will work with a second DVD disc?  Thank you.

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion HPE h8-1234. According to specifications, your system has six (6) SATA connectors on the motherboard. Unlike the IDE/PATA, SATA supports only one device per cable. Install another CD/DVD/BluRay drive will require you to buy another SATA data cable to make it work. And YES, the computer will function normally with a second optical drive installed.

In general, even if the pictures are on iCloud, there are still a few miniature photos stored locally on the device.
