  Outlook and Outlook Express are completely different products and are not related except for the names.

  The problem you describe product generally when you have not defined thte option to authenticate your outgoing SMTP server.  If you click on tools > accounts, select your account, then click Properties, you should see a Servers tab.  This tab is a check box labeled "my server requires authentication".  Check it out.  Then check the settings button to the right.  You'll see two radio buttons.  From the top, labeled 'Use same settings as my mail server outgoing' is generally the right to choose.

  Same question as above, except the deleted items that is now corrupted. Follow the instructions above, but this time remove Remove Items.dbx with OE closed.

  With all the corruption, you might want to consider a new identity that will give you all the new dbx files and a new registry hive.

  File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

  Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  Please let me know what is the cause for this.  I have very important emails that have disappeared.

  In more of Bruce's response, if you lost messages (and it seems you if messages do not appear) and then check your Inbox for a bak file is a backup of the dbx file that you can restore.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 and see point 4 on retrieving the messages.  I suspect the problem is due to having interference from antivirus software because it is probably what causes this loss, then see item 3 on this page also, as noted in Bruce.

  Hi, I have a strange problem with my outlook express. The program opens ok, it synchronize the e-mail with the servers and so on. If you click on an email in the upper part of the window you can see the content below.
  Now, this is my problem, I can not doubleclick on an email to open it, I can't send an email or forward it. I can't open the address book.
  I get different messages, "it was not possible to open the address book, it cannot be installed correctly", "the message could not be opened, an error has occurred", "it was not possible to load the due address book that Outlook Express is not properly configured. Reinstall Outlook Express"and so on.
  I used this software for many years and the problem came from one day to the other. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the program from the Control Panel, I did a repair on XP installation, but it is always the same, is there anyone who has an idea (I know that Outlook Express is and old program, but it works very well for my needs).

  First, try a new identity and see if that helps.

  You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

  -damaged or incompatible DLL files for the addressbook

• Software BlackBerry made Blackberry connection problems with Outlook 2003?

  I tried to look through the forums to see if theres any other mention of this but could not find something but it definitely seems to be a problem with one of our PC

  My wife has a Win XP SP3 system and running Office 2003 and 2003 Ourlook which, until the installation of Blackberry link worked fine.  When she installed link BB and hung the BB Z10, there was questions first with him saying she had no Media Player installed... She did it... Finally after reinstalling the BB link a few times he seemed to get the message and was able to see Media Player... everything seemed fine, but I was puzzled as to why the link / Unit decided to create a new network icon for Blackberry virtual private network?  After using the link and its Z10 a few days ago she noticed that when she ran outlook 2003 on the system for some reason, she was unable to receive the incoming pop3 to his two accounts mail. She got the following error message...

  Task 'pop.gmail.com - receiving ' reported an error (0x800408FC): "the specified server name is found on the network (it might be down temporarily).» Please check that you are connected and that the server name is correct. »

  I am pleased to see that we have highlighted in this one machine, if you will not tie the Z10 BlackBerry as modem then you can keep the VPN BlackBerry off.

  Another that what could it be causing a conflict with the BlackBerry VPN, to be honest, I have an application that causes problems with the BlackBerry VPN connection and I have to turn off sometimes.

• Smarview problem with Outlook 2010 - 11.1.2.2

  Every time I start Outlook, I get an error message saying Outlook has experienced serious problems with the add-in Hyperion SmartView, you want to disable the add-in.   I select 'no' because I don't want it disabled in Excel.  I want only that it should be disabled in Outlook.  I went to the Tech FRÉ and found this.  However I don't see the 'other' choice.  Am I missing something?

  To turn off Smart View for Outlook only:

  1. In the Ribbon of Smart View in Excel, select Options, then Advanced Options in the left panel.

  2. Under other, select Disable Smart snap-in in Outlook software component View.

To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer.   With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.
   
  After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

  For some programs, turning it off is not enough. You may need to uninstall and reinstall in custom Mode and remove the analysis when e-mail messages.

  Recovery methods:

  If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

  To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

  Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

  Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

  First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

  If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

  If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
   
  If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

  I have Windowsmail and outlook on my computer.  I can only receive e-mail from msnbc.com.  I was unable to block.  I was told outlook is not compatible with Vista and that I should delete it.  There is a site that I work with who require me to use their Outlook form.  When I try to send information, it says that I need to load Outlook.  I did and it doesn't work.  Any suggestions?  I have read suggestions by others on this site and none work.  I also contacted the server and they said it was a problem for microsoft and contact them

  I used security internet kaspersky 2009.i recently updated version. The problem solved by installing 9.0.0.463 (d) - Outlook 2007 constantly gel - reappeared when I bought a new CD of KIS 2010 and installed the latest 9.0.0.736 (a.b). I'm running Vista 64 as my operating system.

  I do not uninstall KIS 2010 9.0.0.463 when I installed the new version, as they were the two KIS 2010.

  I would a.463, but I don't see an available English version more

  Try the Outlook Newsgroup.

  They may know of a conflict between them.

  And many people say not to do analysis of e-mail is enabled in your AV.
  But apparently, you had no problem earlier with KIS.
