Problems with the horizontal navigation bar Spry in IE

Considering that the page is perfect (at least all I like) implemented in all other browsers, IE converts the spry horizontal navigation bar in vertical position. Not very practical, and I spent day (really) try to find a solution. Even contacted Microsoft here in Norway, but they are their usual me useful (i.e. not very).

A solution is of course to use a flash homepage and tell visitors to get a decent browser (as in NOT IE), but that might be a little off.

Would be best to find a way around the problem.

Any suggestions or solutions?

See you soon,.

Spry menus have integrated many hacks for IE.  When you make radical changes of styles of Spry menus without understanding what it does, it is inevitable that something will break somewhere in the chain.

    In this case, you must use tables, images, or the vertical list menu.

  • Problems with the keyboard navigation

    I try to use the caret browsing most of the time or all the time, but I have several questions. (So please don't tell me how to disable the keyboard navigation). Also, I would like to use the keyboard navigation without also having to use the mouse - I need now for most to overcome what I think is problems.

    The problems are:

    (1) switching to a page where already in accent circumflex mode requires using the mouse to move the focus somewhere before the caret navigation is logical. I tried the wrapper work using the search text or tab, but it's the two unrelible and against nature (even tedious).

    (2) while in insert mode I sometimes loose site of the cursor. I can continue to use the arrows until starts it page scroll which tells that the caret is on the top edge or lower, but I still don't see it.

    (3) while scrolling with arrows, cursor/caret hits a link or a title then re-use of the fl arrows increment lines at this level "indentation", without going through whole paragraphs of text. I need to use the mouse to reset the caret a text box.

    (4) I think it's the same problem as above, but I enter a mode where the up and down arrows take me to top/bottom of the page rather than up/down line as it should.

    (5) the cursor becomes more a region on the side of the page (such as a navigation bar), and there seems to be no way the mouse-less to get the cursor to the text box.

    (6) it seems (but I'm not positive of what really happens) after scrolling to the bottom of the page not in insert mode, I switch to insert mode and start using the arrows but caret navigation starts from where the focus was before--as forwards several page scrolls with the space bar.

    In summary, what I expected to happen is:

    (a) I navigate to a new page in insert mode and have somewhere logical automatically set focus as in the center of the current view.

    (b) set the mode insertion while on a page - automatically have focus on the Center or other places of logic in the current view.

    (c) never increment by something other than a line upwards or downwards. Especially, do not go to navigation link or next paragraph - what ever he is doing.

  • Problem with the 2.0 (1.0) Spry menu bar re - CSS

    Hello:

    I'm having some trouble with a Spry (horizontal) 2.0 (1.0) menu bar I created.  Initially, I thought the problem was in what concerns the problems of rendering on IE 6.0, but the problem seems to be more general than that, and I came to believe that this has to do with the CSS created by the browser Widget and changed once imported in the Web page.  That's why I chose to post my question here rather than on the spry page.

    I leaned on the tutorial provided by David Powers (Bayside.css) and in addition any other documentation regarding the Spry UI bar menu.  The problem appeared as one of the 6 IE rendered page with a gap that is created when the menus appear, so push down the divs that appear below the page.

    However, through a laborious process of trial and error, my problem now seems to be that when I export the CSS generated by the browser widget to an external style sheet (the style sheet General governing the whole of the site), he comes into conflict with other CSS styles for links etc.  The end result is that all the padding, background colors, background images, and colors of text are lost.  As long as the CSS is in the head that this does not happen.

    My thought is that this must have to do with the problems of specificity, inheritance, etc.

    The site is available at the following ADDRESS: http://www.aclco.org/testing/index.html.  In its current form, all the CSS associated with the menu bar is located at the head of each page.  (see CSS below).

    My question is I can set up a separate style sheet for the menu bar horizontally and have these styles applied specifically (and only) in the menu bar my only alternative is to work through the rest of the General style sheet and the work by problems of specificity/inheritance - that may be the "best" practice , but it may create another 'cascading' [sic] problems elsewhere.

    Advice or suggestions or directed readings (which would point to a solution) that could be offered would be greatly appreciated.

    Steve Webster

    The horizontal CSS governing the menu bar is as follows: (currently the following CSS is embedded in the web page's head)

    < style type = "text/css" >

    / * - Start styles horizontal Spry Menu Widget 2.0 (1.0) menu bar-* /.

    / * BeginOAWidget_Instance_2141544: #MenuBar * /.
    / * Values for skinning a basic through presets menu. If the default settings are not sufficient, most count should be done in
    These rules, except for the images used to down or to the right pointing arrows, located in the SpryMenuBasic.css file

    They take the following classes of widget for layout of menu (located in a "Preset")
    . MenuBar - applies to all menu bars - default is a horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - level 2 subs and beyond are drop down to the right.
    . MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; All submenus are drop down to the right.

    You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top-level menu bar layout. Normally, they are defined by using a predefined setting.
    They apply only to the horizontal menu bars:
    MenuBarLeftShrink - the menu bar will be horizontally "shrinkwrapped" be just big enough to hold his items and left-aligned
    MenuBarRightShrink - as MenuBarLeftShrink, but right-aligned
    MenuBarFixedLeft - set to a specified width defined in rule "." MenuBarFixedLeft', and left-aligned.
    MenuBarFixedCentered - Fixed to a specified width defined in rule "." MenuBarFixedCentered',.
    and centered in its parent container.
    MenuBarFullwidth - expands to fill the width of the parent container.

    In general, all the rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so that they don't apply to instances of the widget inserted along
    with the rules. This allows use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Due to limitations in IE6.
    There are a few rules where this was not possible. These rules are so noted in the comments.

    Some rules above use several class names to an element of selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and 'a a submenu' (MenuItemWithSubMenu).
    * give the selector '. MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
    * Unfortunately, IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector like '. foo.bar.baz', IE6 does not take into account
    * all but the final classname (here, ".baz") and defines the specificity in consequence, with only one of these classs as significant. To work around this problem
    * problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate classnames for IE6, such as "MenuItemWithSubMenuHover".
    * Given that many of these necessary, the plugin does not generate additional classes for modern browsers, and we use the copies of CSS2 style class
    * syntax for that. Since IE6, both apply the rules where the
    * It should not and gets the specificity wrong too, we have rules of order carefully, then misapplied rule in IE6 can be overridden.
    * So we put first the multiple class rule. IE6 wrongly apply this rule.  We follow this with the single class rule that it would be
    * replace by mistake, by ensuring that the specificity of IE6 interpreted as is the same as the unique class selector, so the latter wins.
    * We then create a copy of the rule of multiple class, adding a "." SpryIsIE6' in the context of the class and to ensure that the specificity
    * the selector is high enough to beat the rule of single class in the case of "match of these two classes. We place the rule of IE6 at the end of the
    * block of css styling to make it easy to remove if you want to drop support for IE6.
    * If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
    * The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the need of IE conditional comments to these rules.

    Hello Steve

    Well, I checked your page in IE6 and it seems to work fine for me except that here seemes to be a little space between

  • items that may be due to lack of support of .png?  In other words, if there is a little transparency on the edge of the chart?  Maybe it's more a shot in the water on my part!

    Now my suggestion to you would be to mark this thread as closed/replied and after again with just the link to the page and your question.  Short is sweet.

  • problem with the spry menu bar

    Hello. I'm having a problem with the submenu appears at the top of the page instead of the sub menu. I have added settings and changed % to the "ems", but still does not work. I think it has something to do with being right under the menu spry flash movie. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    The problem is due to the

    Tags that you added all through
    the spry menu.
    In IE, which not only align text Center but it also aligns the
      which
      are drop down menus in the center of the
    • who owns.
      This changes things.

      First of all, change this:

      To do this:

      So, if you want your text aligned to Center:

      Change this in the sections file:

      UL. MenuBarHorizontal a {}
      display: block;
      cursor: pointer;
      background-color: #000000;
      Padding: 0.5em 0.75em;
      color: #FFFFFF;
      text-decoration: none;
      }

      To do this:

      UL. MenuBarHorizontal a {}
      display: block;
      cursor: pointer;
      background-color: #000000;
      Padding: 0.5em 0.75em;
      color: #FFFFFF;
      text-decoration: none;
      text-align: center;
      }

      I hope this helps.

      Take care
      Tim

  • Problems with the navigation links in EDIT mode in the Business Catalyst Muse sites.

    Has anyone else had problems with the navigation links / EDIT mode in sites Business Catalyst Muse?

    In EDIT mode, I can't use the list drop DOWN the SELECT DIRECTLY to go to another page or a link. The drafting of the text or label works, but to actually go to a /visit link a hard link is broken.

    Screen Shot 2015-08-15 at 3.39.42 PM.png

    Others have this problem as well.

    No work around?

    Thank you!

    I have the same problem! Contact BusinessCatalyst today taught me that it is a known bug and have Adobe Muse to fix! LiveChat ticket No. #159685

    When I launched the Web site in may 2015 everything worked well, but since the update of CC, this problem occurred.

    The tip of solution, I received the BC is to always use the navigation menu bar. This does not work for me because my client wants a menu of polaroid...

  • Need help with the vertical navigation within the sidebar of centering bar

    I can't seen to find this setting determines how the orange navigation bars can be centered in the sidebar.  I've read tutorials of David and so they are useful, but I just can not find... or miss this one part.   Also, is it possible to center the web page on the screen, so it is blue on both sides. I have attached a screenshot.FFAS home page screen print.JPG

    How do I Center a page with CSS: http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Centering_web_pages_and_other_elements_with_CSS-16640.html.

    To Center a Spry vertical menu, change the value of the margin in ul. MenuBarVertical from 0 to 0 auto:

    ul.MenuBarVertical
    {
         margin: 0 auto;
         padding: 0;
         list-style-type: none;
         font-size: 100%;
         cursor: default;
         width: 8em;

  • Smart Safari search bar, problem with the option 'include suggestions for Safari '.

    Hi all

    I am facing a problem with the search bar Safari Smart of yesterday (January 26, 2016).

    The search bar doesn't work anymore, I can't type, or search or write an http address either. I can only navigate by selecting a bookmark.

    Go to preferences I have all the people with reduced mobility and the disappearance of the problem.

    Then try to isolate the problem, I've found it comes to the "include suggestions of Safari" option in the smart search options.

    Anyone had a similar problem, or have any suggestions on how to get it back to life?

    I must say yesterday, everything working, I have not installed anything new on my Mac.

    Thank you very much!

    Kind regards

    S. Luca

  • better integration with the Mavericks. Still a problem with the display of the menu bar spaces when moved

    Much better integration with the OSX mavericks on the latest version. Without a doubt ahead of Parallels in terms of dual display/full screen. The menu bar has been resolved, but there is a ghost menu bar that appears when you move one space (fullscreen vm) from one monitor to the other. It resembles a translucent bar on top and without words. But clicking on it shows menus as if it is supposed to be links there.

    Yes, it is a known problem with the Mavericks Developer Preview; We work closely with Apple to find a solution. So far, we have seen only with the restoration of the window or when you move the window between monitors - if you leave full screen and enter again, it should work fine. If you notice any others, please let us know.

  • Make the fixed Navigation bar drop Menus still appear on the top

    You can see my problem here

    Using Dreamweaver - how do the fixed Navigation bar down Menus still appear on the top - YouTube

    I'm not too familiar with dreamweaver and don't know how to ask this question or even don't know where is the problem. I did the navigation bar have a fixed position, but the rest of the items would appear on top of the value net asset bar when I scrolled down. How to make the navigation bar always be above all down the screen so the menus and submenus appear always on top?
