However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

OK, so here starts my road of woes. First of all, I got a problem with a driver updated on a COMPAQ DeskPro ENS P866. It complements removed all the sounds of this PC. I tried every fix on every techie forum goes without result... including uninstalling, resettlement (thanks to automatic and manual methods). Stop and start services, Fix IT, restores... etc etc. You name it I tried it. I knew that these drivers were on the original Windows installation, so I decided to bite the bullet and do a complete Tassel and take all the patches from its state of origin (desperate that Yes). OK so I took screen prints of my information on the product and information system before you start... I started to follow the XP Reinstall instructions by the support site for windows... and everything seemed to be going great until I arrived at the main screen of the product. I put in my 25 char key and got the pop up "the product Id you entered is not valid. The CD I have, was not a copy retail it was a copy of illigit. However, I bought a license real profit to perform this legal copy... then this could explain why its causing me problems? Otherwise why the * it will not accept my key bought. I checked then double I indexed in as it was printed... and I am really frustrated. Ive gone 1 speaker works do not, no noise, no computer/XP... I tried the Chat Support and they confirmed my product key is still valid... and is the version correct etc etc. But thensaid I need to call a number paying to discuss further. I realize XP is under extended warranty... They want to pay my 46 + VAT + extras before they will even speak with me... at all. So what now? Product ID is 7558881-76487-084-22948 Microsoft Windows XP Professional... updated originally to NT/2000. The sticker on the unit refers to the earlier version HELPPPPP!

  • Windows 7 not accepted in a retail PC product key

I have a product key genuine alternative for Windows 7 that I wanted to use to install my friend a new operating system. She has an old Windows XP retail PC. When it came time to activate the operating system by using the product key, the message was: "Product key not accepted" - and the help section, said that this is probably due to the fact that it's a PC detail that is used to have a copy of XP OEM. It is possible to activate a new OS on a computer that was previously bound to an OEM product key? Is it a particular format of the MAC address that accepts only the activation of the OEM operating system?

The restriction that prevents the operating system that is being replaced is called Secure Boot is available only on the UEFI BIOS and is active with Windows machines 8/10. If the computer had Windows XP on it it would not Secure Boot enabled even if they are available.

Windows XP/Vista/7 OEM systems has just had the key integrated into the installation image that checked for a tag SLIC in BIOS to check that the license was valid for the particular manufacturer and that it is not activate online or by phone.

Disk based installations must activate online / by phone so don't check is not the license using the BIOS and ignores the built tag, even if it exists.

If your license key is detail it should activate automatically or return to the phone Activation however product key not accepted"is not normal under these circumstances. When this message comes up? If during the installation of Windows, the computer is not online, and it is a failure the internal controls of the encrypted in the key product ID, it is not rejected by the activation servers.

If Windows is installed and you try to activate and then download and run the MGADiag

  • Microsoft does not accept my product key (or more)

A few years ago, I bought 7 (LEGALLY) and used in the first computer. After the renewal of the computers caused crashes too much / more technical application I am now using my third (and hopefully final) a. After (re) m ' install 7 on this Microsoft already faced a problem: "product-key not accepted". After ignoring this nonsence about a year and a half, I was stupid enough to use the automatic update system. Big brother seemed to have crawled-all about the system and all of a sudden my screen-photo has been blacked out and who knows what they were doing more...

Try to (re) install the (LEGAL) product key is a failure. I can continue with my computer, but first of all I don't know what Microsoft in the software and then my main is that I bought for the whole of the price of a product and can not even renew a computer. I can understand when to change a computer we have re - enter the key product, but after the scrapping of an old computer, I have to do I don't know what it takes to get all of the appropriate system again.

looks to me like you have an activation exploit called RemoveWat installed

    Hi all

I had a system to dual-boot with windows 8 and Ubuntu and tried to delete the Ubuntu but the computer does not start, I tried to fix the mbr and were wrong.

Unless you have purchased the version System Builder DVD Win 8, you bought an upgrade.

You must install the operating system you upgraded and then re-upgrade using your Installer to win 8 and PK.

  • New motherboard fitted now XP pro code is not accepted for activation.

Hi, installed a new motherboard in my computer of girls. Went online to activate, but the key to license not accepted. So I reinstalled XP pro on hard drive, with the new motherboard, in the case where synchronization problem, still not accept product key. Tried to do it by phone. Same result. Finally spoke to a man who told me that the Packard Bell computer was five years old and so the disc that came with it was out of warranty. This maybe true reason not accepted activation key, or someone to give Microsoft could me the truth. Pete has soon

Microsoft believes that to replace the results of the motherboard in a new computer, so you can not re - install an OEM copy on a new motherboard.

Of course you did not subscribe to this in the EULA - this is another license which the seller agreed, not you.

Sorry, you will need to purchase a new copy.

  • Windows XP Setup will not accept my product key

I am re-installing ona XP laptop, but the installation of Windows XP will not accept my product key. I have an OEM of a Dell PC product key that is no longer functional, and a update product key which is not null else, neither of which works.

I can't even do the installation to achieve the activation step.

    Link to the entire conversation:

    Huh?
    • You have a Dell system, and with this Dell, you have a product key for Windows XP (edition?) - it would be an OEM key be used with an OEM installation CD.
    • You seemed to have bought (where?) a copy of "Retail" / license for Windows XP (edition?) - which would have its own retail product key to be used with a retail installation CD.
    What does not work:
    • using the CD to retail with the product key OEM on Dell machine sticker
    • by using the product key from retail with OEM installation media which might come with the Dell printer
    • have an installation CD OEM with an edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc.) and you try to use the product key OEM for another edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc) (editions must match, House can is complicated in this grouping too.)
    • have an installation CD retail with an edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc.) and you try to use the product key from retail sales to another edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc) (editions must match, House can is complicated in this grouping too.)
So is that what you are trying to do?  Why did you buy the CD/product key for sale at retail and the editions correspond?

If you're not at the point where you will have to enter the product key - why do you think that the product key is the question? Hah
