  It is rare you rec had a drive to purchase.

  Toshiba uses a recovery Partition to reinstall Vista from.

  You press 0 (zero) on startup with a Toshiba to start the recovery process back to the factory settings (how you bought).

  Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

  If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

  You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

  Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

  If installed by the computer manufacturer, the product key (code 25-digit alphanumberic 5 sets of 5 digits separated by dashes) is on a label on the back, side, below or sometimes even in the case of the battery if a laptop.  If you had never re - activate the system for any reason, then the key in the computer is the manufacturer and differs from that on the label on the computer (and is not anywhere in the computer).  You will not be able to use the product key for the manufacturer to re - activate Vista - you must use the special, unique product key, that they provided on the attached label.

  If you have purchased and installed a retail version of Vista and enter the product key provided with the product at this time here or if you re - activate Vista using the product key on the label, if it came pre-installed, then we can get the code of the computer by downloading and installing Belarc Advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html.  When you run it, it will write a report and one of the elements in the report will be used by the computer Vista product key.
