Professional Flash VS Edge Animate

Hi, I'm trying to decide between Flash professional and leading edge. I am a developer web and I try to have a single platform to develop. I know that flash can make mobile apps and web apps, but I don't know if web applications can be adapted. In the other hand is Edge animate it is a nice tool, but I don't know if I can create mobile applications with it.

Another important information is that I'm developing with c# and MVC framework as a server technology, the decision should be based on the best integration with the latter.

Can you guys help me with this decision or recommend me another what do you think will be better than this two mentioned before.

Thank you

Marlon

Flash pro is more difficult to learn, but has much more capacity than edge animate.

in general, flash pro is to motivate developers and edge is more suited to designers.

    Hi Marshall

One of the ways to have your work exported to animate dashboard is by exporting under sprite sheet. You can use this option to flash pro and import them into Edge animate.

  • Adobe EVER going edge animate scale-to-fit (like Flash)?

I followed the progress of edge animate (formerly Edge) since Steve Jobs decided that he was not having Flash on the iPad.

With each new version, I was desperately looking for the function that I consider the most important of all: scale-to-fit

There are a few discussions already on this forum where people have asked for this feature - but both have been diverted by the responses of people who did not understand this as "scale-to-fit" is. So let me explain scale-to-fit:

I don't talk to the Flash feature - where HTML dimensions are set to '%' - then the resulting film will be scale-to-fit any browser window. Here is an example of what I mean:

    http://www.skippingschool.co.UK

-try changing the size of the browser and you will see the entire image (graphics and images) scales without changing its proportions.

When the latest version of edge animate came out with its lesson of "Resize" integrated easy to follow, I thought that Adobe has finally found an answer. But if this function is good, this does not solve the problem. We just can't properly scale-to-fit images - graphics.

Now, it is more important that ever that Adobe finds a solution to this problem. The world will "Tailored" - this isn't just a fad. And 'Sensitive' isn't about three columns being crammed into one. All sensitive sites require images, graphics AND animations to scale-to-fit. Tutorial Adobe showing how to animate dashboard can be added to WordPress sites so of little use because it won't work for sensitive web sites.

Please Adobe, will someone tell me if scale-to-fit is EVER going to happen? I don't mind if it is 3 months, 6 months, 9 months down the line - but I need to know if it is worth sticking with edge animate - or if I should be looking towards HTML5 Canvas or something else for a solution?

If not, is there a fundamental reason why it may NEVER happen?

Please tell me? Just put me out of my misery!

    As promised :)

  • Can anyone confirm that Edge animate is now discontinued?

We use this in our classes. One of my colleagues today confirmed that EA development is officially abandoned, and Adobe will now focus on the export of html5 in Flash.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Well, that's it then, I guess.

Update on the tools and Services

Welcome to Adobe animate CC, a new era for Flash Professional

As expected and now officially confirmed.

The end of the line to animate dashboard. Goodbye Edge Animate - it was good knowing you, and we are sad to see you go.

Flash is NOT the solution for me, however. I already work with alternative tools.

  • How to convert a file Edge animate a CC file animate? If possible...

Animated border is so more on the creative cloud so how do I get my edge projects animated on the new cc program animate to work on my projects...?

Edge animate and animate the CC are completely different software; You can not convert Edge (that drives the DOM elements) to animate (Flash, renamed/renamed) HTML5 Canvas documents.

You can always download Edge animate to update your old projects of edge; to do this, in the Cloud creative menu, scroll down to "Find additional Apps" and click on "all Apps > view previous Versions.  Scroll down and you will see the now Adobe Edge.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud - Adobe Edge animate CC

    Hello

We use Adobe Edge for quite awhile to develop HTML5 animations on mobile devices, and now it seems that Adobe Edge cannot be allowed today unless you have a 'All the Apps' creative Cloud of Adobe license. So, could you say,

    (1) is there a roadmap of Adobe Edge? or edge is no longer being developed?

    (2) flash Pro has been renamed Adobe animate, but is still essentially a Flash designer. Fit our needs for the html5 animations?

    (3) if we buy the Adobe Edge animate CC, you long term plan to support, or it is removed shortly?

    Concerning

    Nedved

I suggest that you post these questions in the forum Animate

  • Where is Edge animate in the creative cloud?

Is it still possible to download Adobe Edge animate in my creative cloud?

Is there a difference between CC animate and animate edge?

I would like to ask the cat from Adobe, but I do not know why are there no cat more...

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can get the edges in your 'previous versions' section of the cc desktop application.  just after the point 1/2 towards the bottom of the page is a portal showing how to install previous versions, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/download-install-app.html

There are many differences between the edge animate and animate cc pro.  their closest relationship is the name chosen to rename flash pro, animate pro.

Cat still works, but those better asked and answered in the forums.

  • Edge Animate - comparisons Animate

    Hey all,.

I worked on board animate for about since a year or two. Many animations of construction / site of my client with edge animate, as my client wants all kinds of animation past with the site, but still have the feel of Web site. I'm using OAM to import my projects to the site, and I know that animate will provide me the opportunity the same.

Animate the thought will likely pass it for animation Adobe HTML5 solution / do with edge animate all together, so think to make the jump. Tips, pointers or ideas, things to consider before taking the plunge. If I understand correctly, Animate is the new Flash. I have never tested a ton with Actionscript and remember I started with Flash, it's what is used in Flash, Actionscript was supposed to be quite similar to Javascript?

Any ideas, feedback would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps a link or something for a good understanding of what Animate can provide such as a website, creating solution, or perhaps thinking is used mainly for ads?

    Thank you all,

    Mitch

Animate in HTML5 mode uses JavaScript as its scripting language.

  • Why use Edge animate in Captivate 9?

    Hello

I am VERY new to Captivate and most Adobe products and am not a web developer or programmer.  I learned how to use 9 CAptivate and understand you can do advanced animations (and more with the function of calendar in the working area).  However, I recently took a course (a pretty good on the site Adobe know-how) on sensitive site, building 8, Captivate and the instructor used edge animate to do something similar.  I do not understand that Edge animate has other uses and has more features that advanced in Captivate 9 animations, but if I want to only produce a little advanced animations and simple movements, I use Edge animate to do this?  I guess what I'm trying to understand where are the limits to capabilites animation Captivate 9 against Edge animate?

    Thank you!

Animate edge can create animations and "was" considered to be the alternative for Flash animations at the start of the hype of HTML5. However, Edge animate is more will continue during development, the month next Flash Pro will be renamed CC animate and will be able to post files OAM, as Edge host used to do. Captivate has the ability to embed animations such as you can embed animated GIF (old but still functional to both output SWF and HTML5) as well. However, it must be aware of the fact that there is no communication between these animations and Captivate, unless you know JavaScript. Such communication is possible using widgets.

Since you are new, I often have problems with the terminology. You want simple movements in Captivate 9? Use the effects of movement, much easier to create and manage than to try to do it with another application. The effects are possible in Captivate, no need for another application at all. What do you mean by "advanced animations? If explain you it, maybe I can also offer you an alternative to animate dashboard? I used it with Captivate 8, but right now, I'm perfectly happy with what's available in Captivate. Edge Animate has (d) the possibility of incorporating some code snippets (JS) or write your own code. Captivate has advanced actions, shared stocks and you can also launch the JavaScript code. I don't think Edge animate has 'more' feature if you want to create Captivate e-Learning courses! Or do you have another goal?

  • Edge animate files/projects

IBooks just finished and packaged for the author a book for children. To halfway through a second aboard.

Would it be wise or safe to continue with the edge or look for an alternative. These are the simple style of a cartoon books.

Edge was fine for my needs. These files will be any use with other programs (the new Flash "Animate") or one that supports OAM?

    Hello

You are very well continue to use the Edge animate. Development ceased, but the application will still be available and loyal users have pledged their support in these forums. For your needs, that it will be useful to take a look in the new 'Flash' Animate as it will be perhaps best suited for you and they listed support OAM as a function of output. But there is absolutely no rush, you have plenty of time to adapt to your workflow.

  • Flash vs Edge (html5)

I am a current user of Flash CS6. I wonder if my company needs to explore the transition to Adobe Edge (html5) at this time. Flash banner still widely enough accepted to continue to produce in right now? Is there a good way to convert Fla in html5?
I do free Adobe Tutorials of edge with a 30 day trial, tutorials seem kind of buggy however. Is there any best available?

I think that Adobe has made the decision for you: there are very, VERY strong reasons to think that Edge animate was discontinued. For example, the product manager of EA has been removed from the project some time ago (now works on any other product), and no one has replaced him. Any update or news, not on the edge blog animate, or anywhere else or any information relating to the environmental assessment were provided by Adobe for awhile, and the silence from Adobe is quite deafening. And the latest version is very buggy - buggy, in fact, that long-standing users advise stick to version 20141

My colleagues at work also all agree that EA is dead. And one of my colleagues is a beta-tester of EA: when I asked him last week on the current situation of animate it, he said in fact that he is unable to answer my question directly because of the NDA between him and Adobe! If that doesn't tell you something, I have no idea what's going to convince people here.

The Department in a Technical University, I teach has already fallen edge animate in his classes.

We (the instructor team) all agree that the signs point to Adobe re - focus on Flash now to integrate tech EA inside.

My advice: stick with Flash for now and wait for the news to Adobe before you start investing your time and effort in learning of an application that is developed is more if we look at all the signs and read between the lines. In the meantime, you can consider the use of Google Web Designer, Hype or NodeFire for html5 banner design. Google Web Designer offers many models, has a scenario like Edge and is free. The other two products offer similar functions.
