Prompt password for the account "Administrator" mysteriously appears on the screen...

Nice day

A user reported that when she comes into the office in the morning the attached screenshot intermittently will appear - basically showing the administrator account and inviting them to enter the Windows password.

She claims to have logged out of his account when she left the night before.  This person is concerned that someone had logged on to his computer remotely and which has been proven not to be the case - as confirmed via the event logs as the last connection as 'administrator' in April - and that was done by me.

Another user noted that this also happens to him - again intermittently - is not specific to this particular computer.

Anyone who has never met this before and know why it is happening?

Thank you very much!

I can tell you that it is not part of Microsoft Windows.  This is another program that has been installed which is causing to appear.  It can be a program that you expect and that integrates in the process of connection (for example, a fingerprint reader, reader identification card or even facial recognition login).  Or it could be something more dangerous as a virus that has infected your computer or your network.

But again, this is not part of Windows.

If you do not expect this with the software you know, then you must take security precautions.

    Hello

You will need to set a password for the connection on your computer user account.

After that, you can set the screen saver and set the option on the resumption, the logon screen and specify 15 Minutes to time waiting .

  • forgot my password for the administrative account.i did not a password reset disk. AlSi o do not have a disk to recover. How can I reset my password or put them on the administrative account? __

I don't remember what my password for the administrative account.i did not a password reset disk.  AlSi o do not have a disk to recover. How can I reset my password or put on the administrative account?

If you have forgotten your password, if you have another user who has administrative privileges account you can log in to that account and change the password of your account of origin of the user accounts applet in Control Panel. If you do not have another account like this set upwards or that you do not have the password which you will need to log on to the built-in Administrator account. In XP Home, start the computer in Mode safe. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. This will put you in the right menu. Navigate using your arrow up; the mouse does not work here. Once in safe mode, you will see the normally hidden administrator account. The default password is white.

In XP Pro, you don't need to go to Safe Mode. In the home screen, do Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in "Administrator" and the password that you assigned when you set up Windows.

If you reset the password of the account administrator integrated into house or have Pro and don't remember the password, use NTpasswd to change the password of the built-in to a white administrator account. Download the bootable CD .iso image file, burn with third-party burning software such as free ImgBurn , Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Start with the media that you have created. You need to maybe change the boot order in the BIOS or obtain a menu of boot command temporary with the pressure of a special key. NTpasswd will run. Follow the instructions carefully.

Then, go to the user accounts applet in Control Panel and set passwords that you remember and other changes. WRITE THE PASSWORDS DOWN AND PUT THEM SOMEWHERE YOU WON'T LOSE THEM.

  • Cannot change or remove the password for the account.

Hi - I want to change my user account password, but this is impossible. I'm running Vista Ultimate x 64 SP1 with all updates.

My user account is the original, was created to windows install with administrator privileges.

When I change my password, it accepts my old password and the new successfully, indicates that the password has been changed and indeed accepts the new password when you log back.

But if I restart or turn off the PC, he returned to the old password, but still remember the new password hint. I tried to remove the password, and Vista indicates that the password is deleted, but after it is restarted the old password is back in force once again.

It starts to drive me crazy, and I searched all over the internet, but could not find a similar problem elsewhere, not to mention a solution.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi HoverDonkey

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers.

You have another user, you can sign up with?  If this isn't the case, create another user and log in as this user.

Change the password for the new user, restart and the connection as long as the new user.  Were you able to login with the new password?
If Yes, then there is a problem with 'your' user account, possible corruption.  Here is a link on how to fix a corrupted profile (user account) - Please post back and let us know if it helped to solve the problem - thank you

    Hello

"What to do if you forget your password Windows 8/8.1"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/what-do-forget-Windows-password#1TC=Windows-8

If you have forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to recover or reset:

    • If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.

    • If you use a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online. For more information, see the Web to reset your password page.

    • If you use a local account, use your index of password as a reminder.

If you've tried these suggestions and still unable to connect:

    • If you have Windows 8.1, you will need to reinstall Windows.

    • If you have Windows RT 8.1, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your PC.

  • The unit 3.1 (3) change of password for the Service account

    Hi all

I am aware of the link and procedure on how to change the password of the service account of the unit 3.1 X here: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_tech_note09186a0080093f54.shtml#topic2

My question is this. I have 5 unity servers that use this service account in any area, which includes Europe and the United States. If I change the password in AD all services will continue to work with the old password as long as they have not restarted with the old password? I know I need to change the password for each service that uses the account and then restart the unit, but since AD taking so long to reply, I was hoping to change the password of the account one day and then the next day or even longer when I have planned for my failure, I can then change the password for the services on each server and then restart the unit and make sure that replication is complete and the services start again with the new password.

I think as long as I do not have to restart services can I change the password of the service account in AD a day or two before I schedule my outage can I change the password for all services, and then restart the unit. I know that I can force replication, but it would be nice to be able to change it in advance as long as it is not flexible, whatever it is. Even force the replication takes a lot of time in our environment and I want to be sure, can I change well in advance without having a negative impact.

    Thanks for your time!

    Keith

If you change a password for a domain account, it should respond immediately through the Organization as AD treats this with the highest coastal.
