  It's really very frustrating because it seems that the quest has not published this very well.  What I do is very simple: I need to get the name of host name and the instance specified in the agent configuration programmatically.  We do it because we are auditing our surveillance capabilities, so we need to know with certainty which of our database are in surveillance.  Head scripts against the consoles to compare a known inventory of instances of database against the agents that are configured in Foglight.

  I have most of the way.  I'll first build it as a rule so that I can the scope on a particular topologyObject - say DBO_Usability.  From there, in the request for enforcement condition I add the following:

  The expression "scope.monitoringAgent. ID"Gets inside (and only) property to the ID of the object of topology representing agent." It is not the ID of 'management '. the agent in most cases the value of this property is null. The call resulting in getAgentInstancePrimaryAsp (...) returns the agent default properties object, not the one that has been configured for this specific agent. I suppose that "monHost" and other mentioned properties are simply not defined in the default properties object. Please try to use 'scope.monitoringAgent. agentID"instead.

  In addition, the first parameter of the getAgentInstancePrimaryAsp (...) method is namespace configuration of the agent, not its type. Although the namespace configuration is the same as the type of agent for many agents is not recessarily so.   I am using the agent script generator to try to create a custom agent cartridge that has a secondary ASP, but seem to have problems.

  After the deployment of the agent in Foglight, when I click on change the properties of the agent, the secondary ASP is mentioned here, according to the ma - strategie.xml, however when I click Edit I have the following error:

• Incompatibility of meter in the Agent in Foglight 5.6.4

  We use Foglight 5.6.4 and there seems to be a problem with the meter of the Agent in the Performance Dashboard. When we look at the State of the Agent, it is show that 181 but when we have a glance at the dashboard of Performance it is showing that only 18.

  Could someone explain please the cause of this?

  Don't know if you have made a lot of changes recently, but you should probably hit the "Refresh button" in the Agent status page without worrying that the status is a few days old. If that does nothing, maybe you stumbled upon a bug/glitch. Your DB_SQL_Server should be present under 'Other' in the second performance overview screen. There was also a second category, "OS", which contains all the former agents. That's assuming it's the same in 5.6.5 as 5.6.4 which I believe is the case.

  I don't have access to the entire area where the agent must be installed and I can't use ssh / key mechanism.
  But still I want to reduce human intervention to a minimum.

  Hey Ben,

  I'm a new technical writer Hyperic. I work on documentation of installation/configuration of new or improved and scouring the user forum so I can understand what lack us in the current literature.

  Don't know if this will help, but here is my understanding of the mechanism of token.

  The token is generated the first time that the Agent starts, regardless of the setting of agent.setup.resetupTokens.   Setting and let this property to 'Yes' will cause a new token to be generated whenever the Agent is started.  It would be useful if, for some reason, a token got corrupted or deleted.

  I'm not aware of any way to manually generate a token.

  There is a doc page that attempts to address about reducing the user intervention required for the deployment of the agent here: http://support.hyperic.com/display/DOC/HQ+Agent+Deployment. I did not approve this content yet, so consider it "FWIW.

  I tried to activate the FTR agent but, impossible to activate it. When I checked the logs, I could see the following errors.

  Hi Renon,

  The first thing to check is that you have a 32-bit Foglight Manager Agent to run the agent FTR (even if it is on OS 64 - bit). This is a common reason for the agent to fail to start.

  From the release notes: The Foglight Transaction recorder and player are supported on 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Transaction Foglight player works on 64 bit systems only if the 32-bit version of Foglight Manager Agent is installed.

  I have an IPCC Express 4.0 Setup with CAD 6.1. When calling gets queued to an agent, if he does not respond within 3 rings, calls is redirected to a next available agent & agent moves to the State is not ready.

  In the properties of the 'resource step select' or 'Connect' If you 'Connect', false to step "Select resource" you will see a 'Timeout' field The default value is 10 seconds. It is what controls how long the phone will ring at the Office of agents.

  Make sure that the timer is less than the response of IP phone ring if you have voice mail online agents (I recommend to have no voicemail on the line of the agent).

  I have test the java plugin from the hyperic documents. Autodiscover works very well. Now, I had the problem if I want to change all "configuration properties" I get following error message:

  This must be due to an incompatibility between the definitions of plugin in the server (and/or of the database) and the agent.

  First of all, always check the server log, errors that appear it should lead to the cause.

  The plugin xml initialized ok on the server, or any error appear?

  You go to Administration-> default trace and see your plugin (Server Type: MyAutoDiscoverServer) and everything is there?
  If this isn't the case, errors occurred when starting the server, check the log.

  Did you start to shave - created the plugin, added to both server and agent, autodiscovery, the platform/server added in Hyperic - or you already had the server/platform added in Hyperic and who has made some changes in the xml plugin that may be in conflict with what is already in the Hyperic database?

  Generally the pitfalls that come from these errors.

  Is it possible to change the host name to the agent (WindowsAgent), located under AgentStatus? Are you forced to remove the agent and add it with the new host name?

  Under Administration | Agents | State of the agent.
  Select an agent
  Select Edit properties.
  The host at the top of the page (not the hostname on the bottom).

  The host name that appears at the top of the page is discovered by the agent's host name.

  It is an agent of property that cannot be changed. If you want to change it, you must delete and re-create the agent.

  As you note, the hostname associated with the measures collected is editable. This is the name that appears in the monitoring dashboards.

• Deploy the agent OS shell package?

  Is there a way to deploy the agent to the shell operating system package?

  We have puppets copy through and the installation of the fglam and it fits perfectly. I was hoping to copy down the bundle of BONES and also set up so I don't have to connect to the GUI.

  I figured it would be something fmscmd? But I had no luck yet.

  You can use fglcmd to do this. The command you are looking for is agent: deploy

  The following example would be deploying the package of the OS on a host named yourhost.yourdomain.

  ./fglcmd.sh cmd - agent: deploy - regex - host «yourhost.*' - «OSCartridge.*» IDPack

  You can then use the agent: create the possibility of creating the agent, then agent: activate to start.

  Problem: The program "HP updates Agent" run frequently and on no particular schedule, certainly not the one I chose.  He takes over my computer for hours and using most of the CPU, fluctuating between 13% and 87% to 1 etc.3% at 6%, etc.. The computer crashes and I can not use it for something else. On the HP updates screen, I put updates on 'NEVER', but that did not work.  The programs always run. In the Windows Task Manager window, the program is called "Agent updates from HP".

  I find nothing on this problem in the base of support.

  How can I disable the Agent updates from HP running?

  Select your Start button, in the search box type 'msconfig' then msconfig.exe under programs.

  Look under the tabs "Services" and "Boot". Uncheck update HP agent, select 'Apply' and close.

• Properties of the file means nothing?

  I'm learning to iTunes.  I got rid of my iPod years and promised to never go back.

  Yet, I find myself in the situation where I need to learn it again.

  Just try to understand a few issues here.

  (1) if I look at the properties of my file (Windows), I can see album, genre (?), etc.  I can also change this information.  I need so that I can create playlists based on some information.   If I change this information in the properties of the file Windows, iTunes is updating new information?

  (2) when iTunes imports all the music on my computer, it copies it to a new location?  For example, if I download an album to my office, all the files are in a folder Album1.  Can I synchronize files in iTunes (or drag and drop into iTunes) can I go back to delete the original folder of Album1 off my desktop computer?

  1. N ° iTunes will automatically detect changes to external metadata. These will be picked up if iTunes because of reading the label, for example during playback. If you use iTunes, using iTunes.   2. It depends on where the files (inside or outside the designated media folder) and your choice for the advanced preference, copy the files in the folder when adding to library media. My recommendation is to leave this option. A free iTunes content library is much easier to backup and you move.

  I think that it of not possible to shortcut directly to the modem properties, but you can make a shortcut to Device Manager.

  Right click on desktop-> New-> shortcut (from file)-> use this devmgmt.msc-> devices Manager shortcut name file

  Now you should have an icon and a shortcut on the desktop called the Device Manager.
