Satellite L305 Vista - shortcut to the properties of the modem?

To open the properties of the software Modem Toshiba you would normally click on:

Device Manager-> Modem-> Modem Toshiba Software right click-> properties.

Anyone happen to know if it is possible to create a shortcut directly in Vista?
I looked for a .msc file that might do it, but could not find one.

Thank you.

Hello

I think that it of not possible to shortcut directly to the modem properties, but you can make a shortcut to Device Manager.

Right click on desktop-> New-> shortcut (from file)-> use this devmgmt.msc-> devices Manager shortcut name file

Now you should have an icon and a shortcut on the desktop called the Device Manager.

    Hi John,.

You have already reinstalled Windows with Toshiba Recovery disk (factory settings)?

If Yes, it could be a hardware problem, otherwise, it looks like a software problem or driver.

  • Satellite L30 - how to remove the modem?

    Hello

I have try to disable BIOS modem on my L30-113, but I found no! I try to remove physical modem, I have no chance, it's on board!

How to remove the modem? What I have to shut off the power to the modem and the jury do not, or a mod BIOS whit menu disable the modem?

    Thank you!

Can you please be so kind and explain why you want to disable/remove modem?
Sorry, but I don't see any reasonable reason for it.

If you use it, you can disable the device in Device Manager and he'll be dead for OS.
By the way: on low budget laptops I guess it's on board.

  • Satellite M200 Vista shows that the HARD drive is full of 98%

This problem showed about 2 months ago the system started running slowly and after a bit of research, I went to computer and found he showed that the HARD drive was full of 98%. Then I went and disabled the feature of shadow copy that reached about 3 Gig. After that, the performance was still hurt, so I decided to do a system restore. All reformatted once was good again until a week ago, and the same problem came back once again.

This laptop is running Vista Home Premium SP1, 120 Gig drive HARD, Kaspersky Anti-virus, it has very limited connection to the Net, as it is mainly used to store and transfer music on an Ipod (20 GB of music).

Any thoughts? Maybe a hardware failure?

    Thanks in advance.

    Craig.

Hardware failure is very likely, since you are clearly able to access your hard disk without problem.
Looks like you are using software that could be gradually fill the hard drive with data, such as a log file, it is difficult to say.
With the erosion of the space, you might want to periodically check each folder in drive C (right click, properties) and see how it changes for each new session.

Also clean the temporary files would help such as for:

    "c:\temp".
    "c:\windows\temp".
    "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp.
erase internet files of Internet Explorer cache / temporary
deactivation and reactivation then "System Restore" (do this only if you are satisfied with Vista is running stable)

  • Satellite U - Vista starts when the lid is closed

    Hello

    The title says it all!

My girlfriend showed me her cell phone yesterday. She manually stop it on the start menu, leave for a few minutes, close the lid, then watches in joy as the computer laptop Springs revive again.

I checked and the judgment indeed makes a stop, not a hibernation or something like that. I also changed the lid closed to "nothing" action and "stop" and I tried various methods to stop this strange behavior. My only solution was to have vista recognize the lid close like a stop action and have this control by turning off the laptop. Unfortunately, my girlfriend is a woman of routine and like to manually turn off the laptop before closing the lid, so my solution is not a long-term one.

One thing that I've seen is that she had managed to install Uniblue Registry Booster. I quickly removed it, but wonder if it could have changed his behaviour of the laptop? Surely the fact if boots up when it is turned off when the lid is closed could not be attributed to Vista or whatever it is that was done for her?

    Thank you

  • Satellite L305 - how to change the function of the media player keys?

How can I change the function of my buttons in Media Player on top of my laptop?
I know that if you go to Toshiba Assist, optimize, Support Button, you can change the function of certain keys, but the only options I have are the keys Mute and the CD/DVD.
I am trying to make the button media player opens iTunes, not WMP and even for play/pause, stop, fast forward and rewind.

Even if I'm here, I have a problem with my Ctrl + 1 never work. I can't spend the first tab of firefox or aim. I can't do a group control 1 when you play. Anyone know why/how can I fix it?

    Hey,.

If you press the button on the media player, only Windows Media Player or DVD Toshiba player can be started and not iTunes. This configuration is not possible. As you can read in the user's manual, only these programs can be started.
Then the other multimedia keys work correctly, and you can use it with media player?

    Concerning your other question:
I would try to clean the cooling system using a jet of compressed air. This can blow the dust cooling fans and, therefore, it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

  • Satellite L305 - how to disable the built-in webcam?

I want to be able to use my logitech (plugged into USB Port) instead of integrated cam chicony webcam because I like it better. When I go on some chat sites w video option site usually selects the cam (from settings) and integrated SEES no one if I turned it on or not.

Can anyone help? My search returns nothing useful - strange

    Thank you

    Hi crispy40,

In my opinion the easiest is to disable the webcam in Device Manager, then right-click on your internal webcam and select Disable. The internal webcam is now disabled and usually only external one should be recognized.

I changed from Windows Vista to Windows XP Professional and found that all need drivers, except a "device on high definition audio bus modem.

You have no sound on your laptop or you cannot burn a CD with your CD/DVD drive?

The fact is that DON T need all the drivers for the CD/DVD drive. The operating system uses Microsoft own driver!

  • Cannot install Windows XP as a second OS on the Satellite L305-S5926

Just got a Satellite L305-S5926 (a series SATA drive), I want to add a Windows XP partition (first choice) or convert them into a single Windows XP system (second choice).

First of all, I did shrink a partition using Disk Manager in Vista to release about 73 GB of disk space for use by the Win XP partition. Then with the BIOS setting for the Sata Interface AHCI (default) value, I rebooted for Win XP installation CD and had a blue screen of death (BSD) with a Stop error after you load all the drivers and tried to start XP.

I then created a floppy disk with the drivers of Toshiba Sata Raid/AHCI and restarted the installation of Win XP CD using F6 to install Sata drivers. Always had the BSD. Restarted and went into the BIOS and changed the setting of the Interface Sata to compatibility and then restarted in the Win XP installation CD.

Use both the F6 option or not the F6 option, the progresses installation more than before in the start-up phase to the place where you get to choose the partition where you want to install XP.

At this point the only partition is to see the partition C: Vista living in. It is not the 73 GB of free space I created by reducing the Vista partition at the beginning. The results are the same, they are, under Vista, I leave the space as free space or if I format it, it does not appear as a place to install XP

At this time I have not yet tried the cleaning disc entirely and install XP first then by installing Vista only because I'm still waiting for a Toshiba Recovery disk before proceeding with this approach.

Any idea what I can do to create the second partition with XP? Anyone tried install XP on this model as the primary OS and if so how did you do?

    Thank you
    Joe

  • Satellite L305-S5939: bridge & Speedboost Vista card media adapter

I just bought a Satellite L305-s5939 and forgot to consult it when I bought it.
Before I opened the box, I wanted to understand two things.

First of all, what is a bridge of media card adapter?
He said that this computer has one on the specifications.
This means - it is not built in and I have to put the adapter whenever I want to use?

Second adapter of this type does not allow the use of Speedboost for Vista.
I just assumed that all laptops had standard built in memory card readers, but it read adapter bridge and makes me nervous.

    I thank you,
