Qosmio G20 - recovery system without CD player?

Hello everyone.

I have a Qosmio G20 and the internal DVD player does not work.
I have the DVD of recovery also, since the DVD player does not work I am not able to start with DVD recovery with the recovery.
I also have external DVD drive but Qosmio does not support external USB disk to start.

Is it possible my system recovery without having to replace my internal DVD player.

Concerning
Knockaert

Maybe if you start your laptop in the BACK and load the driver BACK for external device. With full access to an external device, maybe you'll be able to start the recovery procedure.

To be honest I don't understand why you don't want to replace the optical disk drive. Qosmio G20 is so old and parts are more expensive. Check eBay and you will find many drivers for Toshiba laptops.
Replace the drive and be happy. It is not so great investment.

Hi everyone, I recently ran the Qosmio G20 recovery DVD and it wiped the hard drive, and when he did the installation program did not continue further. Hello

That your laptop has a RAID?
In my opinion Yes, there. In this case, you don't need a SATA driver but the RAID driver.

Please visit this site and download the RAID driver.

  • Qosmio G20 - recovery Qosmio Player problems

Hi there, my computer HD has been replaced so I had to use the recovery CD, I tried to use the qosmio player but first it wouldn't start. I went to Toshiba HWSetup first changing CD-ROM boot order. Now it starts up on the CD but when I try to install says "you have 100 MB of free space on your hard drive. Uh, I do it. Help, please.

    Hello

I recommend you to use a 3rd party product like Partition Magic. By using this software, you can prepare the HARD drive and create 100 MB free and unallocated (must be unallocated) space.

  • Qosmio G20-118: System start slowly - restore?

    Hi guys,.

1 day to another, start windows on my G20-118 has become slower. Windows starts as usual, but all programs related to communication take 2 minutes to start until I can connect to the internet. If I open IE in the meantime it is not yet available for dial-up dialog box until the rest is responsible. Clues?

I thought about restoring the system but would like to avoid it if possible. If I restore it, however, it will clean completely the two hard disks or can I save files in one of them?

    Thanks for your help.
    Pedro

    Hello

There are many reasons why the operating system becomes slow.
Sometimes if many background process runs on the entire operating system then BONES need a bit more to run applications.
Also a virus or antivirus programs that are running on the operating system could cause such slow performance.
But as you said earlier that the new installation of the OS could solve these problems.
If you have 2 partitions on the HARD disk, so all that you back up important files on the second partition, and only the first partition is removed during the installation of the new operating system.
On the recovery CD, you will find 2 options for recovery.
    Standard and expert mode.

In expert mode, you can choose the partition where the OS is to be installed.
Use the 'advanced search' to search for topics on the expert mode recovery procedure

  • Qosmio G20 156 - code 39 CD player driver problem

While trying to install a new version of Norton Internet Security, the drive started making a louder than normal noise and then I was told I should I uninstall all previous anti-virus software before continuing.

After you have uninstalled the previous version of Norton 360, (Mat * un DVD - Ram UJ-846) CD/DVD drive has stopped working.
No CD/DVD will run; "D:\ refers to a location that is not available" and I get the error message Code 39 "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) ».

Have tried uninstalling the driver but after resettlement, the same error message.
Oddly, Itunes released the error message that ITunes is not properly installed and if I want to import/burn CD, I need to reinstall the software.
I'm really not sure whether if it is a hardware problem software.

    Help, please!

See this Microsoft Knowledge base article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-us

You must first remove the CD/DVD drive device manager.
Then you will need to access the registry and have completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    This will help for sure.

  • Qosmio G20: Additional programs are placed on the recovery CD?

    Hello

I am relatively new to all this if my question is perhaps a bit noobish. But I would like to reinstall windows xp mce on my Qosmio G20. And I know that's what I use the product recovery disc for. But a few things written about it has started to get worried, so if you could answer the following questions I would be very grateful.

    (1) on the product recovery disc it is said that the additional software (ex: DVD player...) cannot be recovered from the dvd. But all these were preinstalled on my computer and I don't have a cd/dvd extra. So the question is: is this a denial of responsibility (unfairly put) and this Qosmio G20 recovery disc has all programs pre-installed so?

    (2) when I start the recovery process he formats just my drive C: or D: drive as well. I have not changed anything since I was the computer. So drive C: is where programs are, D: drive is just for some multimedia stuff.

Thank you very much. : D

    Hello

AFAIK Qosmio G20 comes with two recovery media:
    1 QOSMIO recovery media player
This CD contains QOSMIO player only and use it before you install the operating system.
    2 OS Recovery DVD
This DVD contains the operating system and all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities.
When you use the laptop will have to new factory settings. As after the first start.

When you use recovery DVD to install OS again, there is an option to install the operating system already persistent partition. I put t know if the recovery on your Qosmio DVDs old ghost image or new software Reco.

Please try to boot from recovery media and let me know how it starts. I can help you to install the OS on the right track.

  • Qosmio F10: Recovery DVD does not work?

Hello. I have a qosmio series lappy F10 series well well I still get random stops, crashes and error log every time that I start.
It's been very disturbing to me. I tried to use the system recovery cd, that I got with my laptop and when I followed the procedure in the user manual it starts the recovery then flashes that my system does not support recovery.

Is this normal especially when I had my restore disk with my laptop. I want to reformat my drive hard back to the factory settings and it was completely wiped out with having to buy a new hard drive and windows xp.

What I do and how can you help me in this? I'm at the end of my teather as one of my tasks is a dj from the internet and I can't keep crashing in the middle of my streaming. I don't want to lose my job!

    Help, please!

    Hello

Very strange! The fact is that you cannot use the different recovery CD because each recovery CD is designed for a Toshiba laptop model. For example, you can not use a Qosmio F10 on a Qosmio G20 recovery CD.

However, I assume that you use the recovery CD provided (as you say) and the recovery procedure should generally work without any warnings or error messages.
I think there is something wrong with the CD. Maybe the wrong CD was shipped with this laptop?
I recommend to ask the Toshiba ASP in your country. Here, you can also order the new CD.

    Good bye

  • Qosmio G20 - 139 flashing indicator power DC only used

    Qosmio G20 139
System does not boot, gives a flashing orange DC power indicator only.

    No other indicator.
Seems to be a code. If I read gives 332
Battery is fully charged and tried more than one power supply.

Checked the voltage on the inputs MB seems OK
Have you tried all the combinations of battery and network combinations but nothing changes.

Hmm... looks like a hardware problem on the mobo...
    Check the memory sticks.
Remove one and try to power the unit using a module only.
You should check both with different combinations means you should check also the two memory slots.

My computer laptop didn t start because of the defective module.
However, if this does not help, then you will need contact a local technician because the guy could locate the defective part.
But I think it could be a motherboard problem, which means that the new Council would be necessary and this can be very expensive.

  • System drive Qosmio G20 with an image or a clone backup

On another thread, I asked problems with Acronis True Image to backup and cloning of my system (C) disk. Whenever I'm trying to clone my system disk or recover an image, I can create and restore the image, but when I install the player recreated and tries to start, I get as much "windows did not start successfully, I would like to start in safe mode... last good config known... or normal. All the options to return to the screen.

I have two drives 100 GB sata, with the first disc of the op system, programs and the second with my data and therefore has set up the raid as two independent disks and the raid console option disabled.

After trying another product of cloning with the same result, I guess there is something in the Qosmio implemented that is the cause. I read that Qosmio Player is installed on a hidden partition of Linux on the system drive and am wondering if it may not be picked up by the cloning and imaging software and that may cause boot failure.

So I have two questions. First of all, nobody knows why I might be problems starting from a clone or recovery using third party disk image backup software and second, anyone successfully upward and restore a G20 Qosmio Player system, and if so with what software and do you perform all the special functions.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Well, I use the Toshiba Recovery CD to restore the operating system on the Qosmio G20.
It has also 2 x 100 GB, but under my computer, I saw only one a HARD drive. I created 2 partitions with the ghost (second option on the recovery CD).
However, I have now 2 partitions but after this procedure, the Qosmio player has been removed. I though that I need to install again simply because of the Qosmio player but I tried to install the Qosmio player after the recovery procedure and it has been successfully.

2 existing partitions and I also have a Qosmio player on my laptop.
But one thing is very strange; I can't locate the partition in disk management.
    But everything works ok

  • Qosmio G20: Question of Media Center Receiver - recovery question

As the abvoe really, I usually leave my computer running from one day to the next day and yesterday I went on it to find that I had 80 MB hard drive (60 GB HDD) to the left. Error messages had popped up and a record of these was recorded in the folder pchealth, under userdumps, or something like that. Anyway I deleted 58gigs with a value of these userdumps, but the same error message kept popping up.

It was a mistake with the Media Centre receiver, but I don't quite know what it is, but it was founded in the ehome folder which I think is located in the main folder of Windows.

I have been into msconfig and stopped the ehhome.exe to start but that seems to ruin the tv/video within the media library settings.

I recently installed the codec and divx player to play divx movies.

I was wondering is that it would be more prudent to use the CD recovery and re - install windows and the software and create a restore point, and then install the codecs to see if the same problem arises, or if someone has had this problem and it heals.

Finally, I actually ran the recovery cd to the above, but when the cd starts the first line on back said something like, 'running Setup for windows 98'. XP is certainly on the 98 and no recovery cd?

Can someone please confirm this for me and all the answers to the above problems.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I can t believe that Windows 98 is placed on the recovery CD.
AFAIK the Qosmio G20 was delivered with the MCE window.
There is no recovery of Win98 CDs for Qosmio units.

In my opinion, this message occurs due to RAID or other drivers that load at the beginning.

  • Qosmio G20: I'll lose all reinstall operating system restore CD downloads

I installed Vista on my laptop Qosmio G20 and am happy with how it works.
If I use the recovery cd I lose all my I-Tunes downloads while reinstalling the operating system XP?

You will lose if all downloads are saved on the C partition. Before recovery procedure starts the HARD drive (or chooses the partition) will be formatted and all data will be gone.

Because of this data backup and install WXP using the recovery DVDs delivered.

  • Qosmio G20-108 Windows recovery problem.

    Hello

I just purchased a Qosmio G20-108 of ebay and the seller said that the laptop is ok but I had a virus previously and it wiped the HARD drive. The DVD player has so replaced it by a new one, but he couldn't just load the recovery of Windows Media Center. I bought the laptop thinking that I can fix it but I could not and now I felt stupid: (.)

When I turn it on, you receive this error message:

    ERROR ATA #1

Intel (r) Boot Agen FE v4.1.16
    Copyright (C) 1997-2004, Intel Corporation

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
PXE - M0F: Exit Intel Boot Agent.

Someone has an idea on how to solve this problem before sending it to the "Topaz" Support and cost me a fortune?

    Thank you.

If the DVD player is replaced, you are 100% sure it works well then you probably have a problem with faulty HARD drive.

If possible, try to get one for testing purposes. It can be used. Replace the HARD drive and try to install the top OS. Check if you have full access to the HARD drive.

  • Qosmio G20-121st - unable to order recovery disc

    Hello

I had accidentally deleted the Qosmio drive partition in my hard drive and now I am unable to install windows on my drive.
When I try to install windows it shows a blue screen with a memory address and etc.

I think that the disk partition table is corrupted and I n t have recovery cd with me.

When I try this link [https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx | https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx] it gives me a message like this

For the device of no means of recovery can be ordered, because it's not about Toshiba Europe region, or it is too old for this service. *

Please help me to recover my laptop, or please give me a valid link to download the recovery CD.

    Model No.: Qosmio G20-121st

    Regarding AERTS.

    Hello

You are not able to order the recovery for this G20 disc because this laptop model seems to be too old for this service...
Maybe you would be able to order the recovery of the ASP disk in your country...

I don't know if the ASP technician would be able to help you but it s definitely a value m to try!

PS: the Qosmio Player can be downloaded from the European pilot of Toshiba page but you will not be able to download the recovery image... The drive containing the recovery disk must be purchased...

  • Qosmio G20: Qosmio player and FM Tuner

I saw a question on the FM tuner in the Qosmio G20 series (and other portable with Qosmio Player). Users responded that the Qosmio Player has no FM tuner! That's wrong!

I did a manual search in Qosmio Player using frequency analysis, and it is possible to scan the frequency range of the FM band. So, I found a few radio stations that I can save. The resolution is not the best but you can easily find radio stations!

    Hello

I agree with Togan. The units are supplied with different hardware configurations.
As a result, some units support a tuner and are supplied without the tuner.
