  Sorry, but I have to ask you what you mean under Update CD/DVD ROM? Qosmio G30 is fairly new laptop model and I can't imagine why you need an update.

  I have a Toshiba Qosmio G - 30 notebook PC series.
  Problem with the GPU.
  I can't get it replaced in INDIA.
  The SERVICE CENTERS of TOSHIBA in INDIA, say they cannot repair or replace the GPU.

  I have to buy a new motherboard for my system.
  They are citing a high price and not wanting to give me the model No. the motherboard etc.

  Can someone give me the motherboard model number & name manufacturers so that I can try to outsource it from somewhere outside of INDIA.

  Each laptop model needs a unique motherboard, manufactured and released for certain model of laptop.
  If you use google and search card mother G30, then you will get several pages which provide this part.

  can someone help me on the following application procedures:
  I need two operating systems on my Qosmio: Vista and XP
  I have two drives RAID inside my Qosmio and I installed Vista on the first.

  I tried to install XP on the second hard drive and I did (I have inserted XP installation disk and sellected second disc for installation), but after installation I got just the XP startup option.

  I can see all the files of Vista on the first disc, but allows boot XP only. Directory Windows XP was intalled on second drive, but boot.ini and some system files have been at the root of the first disc.

  I liked Vista and I repeated the procedure (with my recovery CD of Vista) and now I have Vista on the first disc and all files of XP on the second disc. I do not study how to get full XP on the second disk bootable system.

  What I need:
  Vista on the first hard drive.
  XP on the second disk

  I would have completely independent Windows System. This means that I have to start selection of BIOS, not Vista or XP.

  It's very strange. If you have installed the first Vista and XP as a second OS then the Vista boot manager must exist usually.

  Please note that Vista uses 2 partitions. A partition is not visible. I hope that you have installed XP on this partition.

  In any case, I recommend you to create a new partition on the first HARD drive and you could install XP as second operating system.

  After this installation, you can use applications freeware like EasyBCD or VistaBootPRO to change the Vista Boot Manager.

  I have a Toshiba Qosmio G30-161 and with her, I have a Toshiba remote and a Toshiba remote control receiver, this is the first time that I used it (tried of that is), my problem is that the remote control does not work on the computer, when I press keys on the computer program does nothing.

  This remote will work, if you use it without any special drivers and special software, only in the Media Center.

  But if you install stuff like [WinLirc | winlirc.sourceforge .net] then you should be able to get some functions for your presentation.

  Please try this tool and check if it works.

  By the way: if I were you I would first read the manual and the WinLirc FAQ before you start because it s a little bit tricky to manage the program. :) (Too many parameters: D)

  As far as I know Toshiba service partner has this info. They have access to Toshiba of database and that you can check this. As much as I know that Toshiba has offered two platforms for the Qosmio G30, so it is very important for you to get the motherboard for PQG32E.

  I mean if you have this number, you can order only and you don't need some special shopping.
  Try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.
  It's really not easy to help you with this.

  And Yes. Part number is something like K000xxxx.

• Qosmio G30 - DVD-ROM drive has stopped working

  I have a Qosmio G30 age of 3 years and the DVD - ROM drive has stopped working.

  This is not an answer to your question but can solve the problem if it is the same that I had.
  In my case, the drive tries to spin but it slips. Only the motor shaft rotates and the drive remains at low revolutions that were not even stationary.
  The problem was caused by the fact that the plastic part (black color) of the mechanism which engages the disc (CD or DVD) slips on the
  motor drive, axle and th couldn't do a full rotation or runs at the specified speed.
  The solution is to delete the article in plastic and put a small amount of super glue on the axle and then put it back.

  Where there is a similar issue, I hope that solve you it like I did.

  The drivers provided with this laptop, driver 7.1.1.8 version cannot handle Microsoft CFS3. Cause is the Simulator to lock. It runs Microsoft FS2004, but the land is horrible looking.   I understand, but you must know that graphics used in laptops cannot be cooled as graphic cards on the office computers and because of that there is not a lot of driver updates. The priority of the laptop manufacturers is material.

  One of my friends has Qosmio G30 (European model) and we have tested many games with great success. Chart is really fantastic and each game unfolds without cutting. The best example is Call of duty 2. I'm really addicted to this game now. :) Because of this, I am really surprised that you write on the bad graphics. You must set all the graphics options Max level!

But I am not able to find any BIOS drivers and devices on the laptop, so I can't install XP in another partition (my drivers are supplied with a "restore CD" which installs Windows Vista as well).

  Possibly a registry entry is corrupted.
  Go into the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  Remove the drive from Device Manager CD/DVD, and then restart the laptop.
