Qosmio Q55 - Vista 64 NOT showing .avi thumbnails on explore

Hello guys

I have a Toshiba Qosmio Q55 q802 and from day one I have, I have problems with thumbnails in windows Explorer. The only thing that shows is the icon of the drive (in my case kmplayer) and not a moment of the capture of the film or episode (the small picture) p.s I wish you guys can understand what I am trying to explain here because my English is not so good.

So, I tried a lot of things that change the player, download vista codecs and other things I've read in other forums, but so far I didn't manage to fix it.

If anyone knows anything please please answer!

Hello

I m using Windows Media Player and the icon shows the part of the captured video
Maybe you should change the player (kmplayer) to WMP

    Hello

You can change some values in the registry. To do this, copy / paste the following text in Notepad, save it as a MP3WAVRecent.reg file and double-click this file to add it to the registry database:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMP11. AssocFile.MP3]
    "EditFlags" = hex: 00, 00, 01, 00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WMP11. AssocFile.WAV]
    "EditFlags" = hex: 00, 00, 01, 00

Note that plus save recently used for the Jumplist instead of frequently used must be checked in the Options of WMP - player, as well as the music at the bottom of life private tab.
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Hi omegaangel,.

Thanks for posting on the Forum of answers.

As a general rule, Windows Media Player should be able to play the format and the correct codec to form the tile.

You can check that you have the right codecs for movies in Media Player.
Here's a thread that processes the download of codecs:

    Hello

Check to make sure that your file has the correct option is selected. Then, depending on the size of the video file, it should load the first frame of the video in seconds.

If this does not work, go to Folder Options > view. Down, check the box that says "remember each folder view settings.

    OT:

    Please help with this

Try this: go to "Start" then go to "Computer" right click on computer and left-click 'manage '.

This will bring you to the management of the computer. From there, you should see the drive. Try "initialize disk".

If you are not the "backup operator" or the "Administrator", then go to the control panel - system tools

-Administrative Tools, then click on "disk management". From there, you can follow these instructions.

    Initialize new disks

Backup operator or administrator is the minimum number of members required.

    To initialize new disks
    1. In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk.

    2. In the dialog box initialize the disk , select the disk to initialize. You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).

    Note

The disk is initialized as a basic disk.

    Additional considerations

    • New disks appear as uninitialized. Before you can use a disk, you must first initialize it. If you start disk management after the addition of a disk, the disk initialization Wizard appears then you can initialize the disk.

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type sfc in the search box, right-click to SFC. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
