  Based on the required system configuration listed in the http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/tech-specs.html it seems that you can upgrade successfully.   You should be able to happen at least Mac OS 10.7.  You can also upgrade to 10.8 as well, but you want to check whether or not your particular iMac supports the 10.8.  Not all Intel Core 2 Duo Mac have been able to upgrade.

• Migration from Photoshop Elements 8 (Windows 7 64-bit) to EP 12 (MAC)

  I intend to move from a system based on Windows 7 PC on a Mac.  Part of this process, I will need to migrate Windows PE 12 on Mac Photoshop Elements 8 PE.  In July, I previously asked what measures would be needed to migrate to EP 11 on MAC, but I've delayed the move (wait for the new MacBook Pro) and will now migrate to 12 EP.

  Always follow the same steps for a transition smoothly (hopefully!) of my Tags photos and catalog?  that is, pass PE (Windows) 8 to 12 PE (Windows).  Then from EP 12 (Windows) to EP 12 (MAC).  Are there traps or warnings I should know about?  I've read some horror stories in different locations and I'm nervous.

  I trash everything that got copied, photos and catalogs, perform a full backup in the box of windows by the kbase article and restore it on the mac. Your alternative would be to try to reconnect all the existing photos indiividually, which seems a lot more work.

  Am I missing something or the abilty to enlarge a photo has been abandoned since the mode full-screen Organizer in Photoshop Elements 8?

  If so, it is a serious regression. This means that you cannot zoom the image enough to review the quality of several photos of the same subject. The only alternative is to switch mode complete edition which takes a lot of time if you have a large number of photos.

  I have prepared a slideshow with the Organizer in Photoshop Elements 6 and produced a DVD that has a good image quality but not excellent (I chose File - high setting of 800 x 600). In order to improve the image quality of DVD, I installed the trial version of first Elements 8. I've exported the first Elements 8 show and have several problems.

  1 the picture quality of the DVD produced by first Elements 8 is worse than that produced from the Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).

  2 titles, transitions and the Bo does not show in first Elements 8.

  3 the sequence of slides in first Elements 8 is different then the slide show in the Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).

  At the same time a menu pops up asking me if I wanted to convert the catalog to the V6. I refused because I was afraid that the catalogue of the V6 can be replaced, and I wouldn't be able to come back.

  Conclusion.

  My results are in agreement with your problems are NOT associated with Photoshop Elements 6 slide show used instead a Photoshop element 8 slideshow in the slideshow transfer to first Elements 8.

  To the test. Photoshop elements 6/first Elements 8.

  First, I created a slide show in the Photoshop elements 6 Slide Show Editor. It consisted of:

  (a) 19 jpeg photos each with dimensions of 3264 x 2448 pixels (which is not recommended to pixel dimensions but which has been used to highlight the project if possible... these photos are grossly oversized since the goal is a DVD VIDEO with standard 720 x 480 image size).

  (b) I used a transition wipe between each

  (c) I used the text inside photos (included in the text was a sequence number so that I could more easily visually follow the sequence of slide show after he was transferred to first Elements 8)

  (d) I added two audio clips as soundtrack (the first one I placed the start just before the last two photos to return on any audio synchronized as well as the loss of a full audio clip)

  (e) I used a pan and zoom for photos 1 and 2 effect.

  The quality of the preview in the editor of Photoshop elements 6 Slide Show was good.

  (d) computer resources

  (e) a combination of all or part of the above

  I have Photoshop elements 8 on my laptop.  A legal version that was installed when I bought the laptop, but I don't have disks for it.   I'm about to upgrade my computer to a new desktop computer and want to upgrade to a new version of Photoshop Elements. I'll keep 8 items on my laptop and just install the latest version on the new machine.  I do not have the full Photoshop and do not need Lightroom.   Is it possible to get the last items in Photoshop without having to pay a monthly fee?    Is there an earlier version (but it is newer than 8), for which I could buy real records and not have to pay a monthly fee?  Sorry if this question has been asked and asked by others; I couldn't find an answer.  Thanks much for the advice.

  You can buy the latest version of Adobe Photoshop elements 14.  Most new computers can run this wonderful program and there is no subscription to pay.  You can install this on two machines at any time and if you change your machines say in 2 or 3 years, you can sign out / uninstall a machine and re - install on a new machine.

  Amazon or any other department stores will have special offers and you have to study and compare prices.
