Quest Desktop Virtualization (vWorkspace) user profile management issues

Hi, I work on the configuration of the user profile with (Win 7 VDI) virtual desktop management service following the guide of vworkspace administrator 7.6 and any other docs, I found on quest.com and I have a problem with it, there is nothing in the file metaprofiles\global. It doesn't seem to work. I have a file (vdi-storage1) server with action c:\vdiuserprofiles\ created folder where the profile will be stored. I also installed the role of vWorkspace on this file server user profile management and the service is running. 5206 port is open. All the virtual desktops have pntools installed with all the options and I can see that the user profile agent is running. I can reach the storage server (vdi-storage1) using telnet on port 5206 and ping. I even gave domain user full ntfs permissions to the c:\vdiuserprofiles folder, but I don't think that this is necessary.

-In the Managment Console > resources > (right click 'properties') user profiles

-General: Compression: low, log level: detailed, Refresh: 5 minutes

-Storage servers: server name: vdi-storage1, Basic file: c:\vdiuserprofiles\metaprofiles, Folder Global: Global, The TCP Port: 5206

-Silos: name: VirtualDesktopSilo, storage for the user profile server: vdi-storage1

-Properties VirtualDesktopSilo

-Members: name: desktop Windows 7, Type: computer group

- Storage for the user profile server: vdi-storage1

- Automatic backup: 30 minutes

The MC did create the folder metaprofiles\global automatically when I applied the settings. I use supplied with vworkspace default registry keys, and I attributed them to the domain users group. I recorded several times power on and off on the virtual desktop. I noticed 5 second delay on the virtual machine after that I typed the information identification, and before she really connects me since I activated the profile management. A I forgot something or is misconfigured it?

OK, after having received assistance from Dell (Quest) suppor, t the issue happens to be with me remoting (via RDP) for VM directly instead of by the intermediary of the broker vWorkspace, therefore the profile could not be created because I had not the closed valid session so it never created the profile. Once I've tested it using vWorkspace connector this worked.

  • WebEx meets the users server management issues

    Hi all

I have three questions about the management of the user accounts on CWMS.

    (1) cisco document mentions that a creation of password email will be sent to an new added manually to the users, but the document does not mention if a new user imported via cvs file will be sent an email from creation of password or not?

    (2) If a new user has been added to CWMS via LDAP synchronization, CMWS email will inform the user about the creation of the account automatically?

    (3) If a user account has been imported to CWMS via cvs, if on file after LDAP synchronization, the user account will be overrided or the user account will be duplicated?

    Thank you

    Danny

    Hey Danny,

    Let me answer your questions:

    (1) Yes. Accounts imported via CSV when you use local user (without integration of directory or SSO) accounts marked as active during the import will get a "required Action: create a password for your new account" e-mail system.

    (2) only if you enable LDAP authentication you can configure notifications about creating an account that will be sent. You can configure to be automatic by checking the 'send notifications automatically", or you can manually click the"Learn more now"to inform all users imported from the creation of the account.

    (3) if the e-mail address of the account is the same locally on CUCM, the account will not be substituted. If an e-mail address is different, a new account will be created while the account is disabled.

    I hope this helps.

  • Problems with too many user profiles on computers Windows 7 Professional?

Is anyone aware of any issues related to Windows 7 computers when too many user profiles are created on the computer. I work in a school and I recently read an article by someone in another educational environment, indicating that they were having problems when too many profiles have been created on a computer.

Given that integrated user profiles manager only allows you to delete each one profile, it's almost an option to the volume of user profiles that exist in such a laboratory environment. Remove Group Policy Computer Configuration-> policies-> administrative templates-> system-> user-> user profiles profiles of a certain number of days on system restart
which exists in Server 2008 R2 does not.

    I appreciate your comments.

  • HotSync Manager does not have the Show user profile which is in Palm Desktop - badly conducted.

I am running Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on my laptop XP Home Edition SP3

I found that when I hotsynced many my Palm brand programs have not been not sync.

Looking at my Palm Desktop, I found the users 'user' and a user profile. The user has no data inside (no contact etc..) Profile has my contacts and calendar etc.

By selecting 'custom' hotsync manager is initially a field empty user with lines listed below.

By clicking the user field concludes that 'user' but not the user profile that displays in Palm Desktop.

In addition, the lines show items that have been uninstalled from the E2, six months ago.

In Palm Desktop, if I select the 'user' tab up hotsync user allows a selection of "Custom" and "File Link". Slideshows custom the same incorrect lines as the custom in Hotsync manager.

If I select the profile of the user on the ground "Custom" and file link are whitewashed and don't allow selection.

When I hotsync my Palm applications to my my Palm desktop user profile backs up.

I uninstalled my office palm of the laptop and reinstalled but it keeps picking up the same bad ducts and does not pick up the user's profile.

I went to Vista laptop that I have access to and what he was able to successfully back up but I need what he is saved on my XP laptop.

Looks like you need to do a clean tear and a relocation of the desktop on the XP machine. Uninstall the software and remove the PalmOne under Program Files folder. Then reinstall.

  • Best practices using vWorkspace User Management or group policy?

What is considered to allow faster connections: setting options in the vWorksapce of management of user environment or by using Group Policy to apply settings?

When environment vWorkspace user settings apply to what is group policy? Before or after?

    Hi John,.

I think it depends on what you're trying to reach. It may also depend on if you have users outside of your virtual desktop environment, if you do, then group policy may be the best meet the needs of all your users.

I've seen good results with combined required Windows and metaprofiles vWorkspace profiles.

Regarding the second question, yet once it depends on the GPO but vWorkspace profile settings apply to log on.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks, Sam

  • Is it possible to create a Local administrator user when you use the Profile Manager to get the configuration settings

    Hello

We are studying the use of the Profile Manager of OS X as a way to manage our Enterprise macs.

One of the demands made by the team, is to create an administrator user, as part of the OS X Profile which is lowered to the customer. The rationale is that this would be a way for the it team get, if the fubar user had their Mac

I did not see this anywhere in the configuration options of the Profile Manager and so ask the people who use it as part of their everyday Toolbox, to find out if such an option is available.

    Thank you and best regards,

No, not with the Profile Manager.

How you deploying your company Mac?  As institutionally imagery or as BYOD devices?  If image, then the image should contain a coherent local administrator account.  If the active image also the Apple Remote Desktop or SSH, you have a method of mass, control and manage the devices.  If BYOD style, then you are out of luck that the end user is the only one with the key of the device.

You can take a look at following JAMF Casper.  Once devices are registered, you have the possibility to create accounts (However the common method is to create an account on registration).  If you deploy a BYOD approach, you should also look into DEP program Apple (https://deploy.apple.com) as more DEP JAMF (or other MDM) is a very powerful tool for light to zero touch deployment of systems.

  • Roaming user profile Gets the .tmp desktop files

I had a user for the last month discussing with my IT group how he files .tmp appearing on his desk.

At first, I thought the problem was the temp = or tempFiles = paths which may have gotten messed with, but they are perfectly fine.
Then, try to reproduce the head question me to see the .tmp files appear only in two cases:
+ .pdf move all the files to the trash
+ only * some * types of files .exe to the trash (for example, the installation program for Java or Chrome)
Removal of other types of files (doc/docx/xls/txt/etc) does not replicate the problem.
Until I discovered the second case, I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Pro, nothing helps. Of course, I discovered later that the issue encompasses more than readers .pdf.
Some research me toward a possible version corrupted Flash from Adobe, that I uninstalled on the user profile and re-installed at the administrative level. The problem still persists.
I'm finally tender hand to the community of MS to see if maybe someone has a suggestion. I'm also currently looking for a way to trace where this .tmp file came exactly, but struggling to find clear instructions anywhere. Pointers would be useful.

  • How can I determine what my CURRENT profile, because the Profile Manager shows 3 and all the questions and answers are ambiguous on this issue. THX.?

Yes, I see ambiguity. I have also some old Save profiles of boards and I have 3 profiles showing under the Profile Manager. The folder under "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" shows 2 of them, but how DO I know WHICH is my current profile? So far, I have been unable to navigate up a clear answer. THX.

You seem to have created a profile in the Profiles folder and not as you should be in an empty folder.

You already clicked the button Choose a folder and specified the profiles folder in the profile folder?

You must always specify an empty folder and new for the profile if you really want to create one profile other than suggest Firefox (you can change the file extension part after the '. ': for example the default user-> my < name >)

It would be preferable to cleaning the Profiles folder and delete all the files except the file profiles.ini and the default and files 'default user', although you might want to move to another location and start from scratch. If necessary, you can retrieve data from one of the two folders.

  • Desktop HP Pavilion p7: user profile service does not connect, cannot load user profile

What happened to a certain number of times now. When I try to log on my user profile, it indicates that the user's profile could not and cannot be loaded. • Create user profile issues

A bit of history - this adventure began when I tried to correct corrupt (or something) the Notification area icons.  I found the fix for the registry (TrayNotify) and that fixes everything except the network icon.  I went to the solution a corrupted user profile (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=windows-7).

The problem here is that the C:\Users\New_Username file does not exist until I disconnect and connect to the new account.  After logging in to the new account, I see that the C:\Users\New_Username folder is full even though I have not (yet) to copy all the files.  It seems that the account made official win 7 comments.

I tried to delete the files and folders in C:\Users\New_Username and write down them.  Problem is that the new account opens with this error "You have been connected with a temporary profile".

Can you help me to create the new user profile?

Oh, BTW, it "seems" problem Notification area icons began after an infection by the virus that has been corrected to messed.  I'm not positive the malware has caused the problem, but it might have.

    Thank you all,

    Terry

Reply to my message?  In any case, I was able to create the new user account and log on without the dreaded «...» Temporary caveat... ».  It is from my files copied to the new account.  I want to copy my office but failed on the first two attempts.

Not sure yet of my Outlook e-mail, etc..

Find the registry for the user profiles change seems to have helped.  I deleted a .bak profile and the other.

Oh, Yes, the Notification area responds correctly in the new user account. :)

  • How to manage the area without their password user profile

Our company has recently adopted a password policy that requires some basic change to the it Department do not ask for passwords and passwords each time (n).

I know... I know... it was a bad policy but we had lived with for a long, long time.

So now my question is this.

In the past as a COMPUTER technician, when I would change the settings of a user on their profile or when I would need to set up a new computer for them I would always get the password to users on their part.

Now, I have a situation where I gave a new user, a loan, they have changed their password and I build their permanent pc. Well well all the way up to what user configuration profile sort...

What is the best way to change the profile of users... such as printers, shortcuts, email add-ins without resetting their password and giving them a new, then have them reset after giving them the new PC?

    Thank you

    James

What is the best way to change the profile of users... such as printers, shortcuts, email add-ins without resetting their password and giving them a new, then have them reset after giving them the new PC?

To configure the user profile you must either ask him his current password or reset his or her password. You cannot change its profile without logging into his account. Unless, of course, you spend a lot of time to analyze exactly where its countless parameters are stored in the registry, and then duplicate those settings manually in the news of the the user ntuser.datregistry hive.

    Help!

    Hello Sander,

VWorkspace PNtools cannot be installed on a Windows Terminal Server or RDSH server is not a supported configuration. You can install only on a VDI or Windows Server PNtools without the active role RDSH.

The Terminal Server vWorkspace / role of RD session host installs the components required for virtual user profiles. The correct installation process would be:

    1. install Windows 2008 R2

    2. Add the role of the Desktop Session host remotely

    3. install the Terminal Server vWorkspace / RD Session host role (and other required roles)

    4. use the vWorkspace Console to configure user profiles virtual as required.

    Kind regards
