  I am trying to run bootcamp for Windows 7 on my early 2011 15 "Macbook Pro and get to the point where the computer restarts and I get the following message:

  Internal superdrive in my computer drive no longer works so I use an external hard drive.

  Is there any solution for this? I can't find anything to El Capitan.

  If you use the web for email-based version, and nothing is installed on your computer, it has no effect.

  But you will have to reinstall all the other programs you have. And, you will need to make a backup of all your data files, including My Documents, or you won't, either.
