Question about rich blacks

OK, I know that this topic has been discussed several times in these forums, and I've read many of them. However I need help with details pertaining to the following question.

Lets say, I'm working on album covers and import a picture into my document psd to cmyk. To create a shadow, I then paint in the background areas with a black color with a soft brush. I add a text, "convert to shapes" and save as PDF for printing. One of my concerns is that the areas that I painted with black print possibly to a different shade of black to my photo. It should be a concern?

I understand that the default black 0,0,0,100 is ok for small text and images, but for bigger bigger texts and larger areas of black, it is preferable to use an intense black as (0,60,0,100) for example. Well, since I have more large areas of black outside my image, how do I change them to a rich black while ensuring it will mix well in black edges of my images? Just mix everything with a brush sweet sampling of colors while enough to ensure my black will print in color is uniform?

I read on "create a profile" and a "custom CMYK" allowing me to adjust my levels of black, but not quite sure how to make this really and when it must be done. I have experimented with this option and noticed that it seems not darken my blacks, but also obscuring the black pixels in areas unwanted such as a people's face in a picture for example. I guess I could just apply changes to a new layer and hide the or erase the unwanted areas so the original indicates layer shows through.

Sorry if that sounds confusing, that I am a bit confused with how to approach fills with projects where I painted in some blacks. Any help from someone competent in this area would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached the cover of the album I'm working on to show what I'm trying to do.

For this type of image, the ONLY way I would, and I did more that I can count, would be to make the composite whole or whatever you want to call in RGB. When your black blend RGB, they will automatically, as stated above, work together, but to ensure that they are based in fact. Second, you want or need in a black traditional "rich." You want what you get - a 300 percent ink medium light black black generation. You don't want or need a 100 per cent black in this image type. Take account of this photograph. The black area in is NOT the same which would fill you with an intense black solid part of graphic design.

In regards to the CMYK conversion, of course you don't get 90 percent black of this conversion. That's what indicates the SWOP v2 profile and it's why happened just to add up to 300 percent of ink. Now, if that's the right profile for your printer is doubtful, and the way you describe the people you have worked with, it sounds like they Classic old school print idiots. I would definitely not trust them with the conversion, but of course, I want to see proof on their first Proofer. If it were me, I would just take a profile custom and with it, but you don't have that luxury.

If you start to mix and paint CMYK, you may really goes well beyond the limit of ink for your process, or worse, ending up with a weird CMYK mix in black that prints in reality with a cast you can see.

  • Question about four black color

    Hi all!

I noticed that Photoshops seems, by default, do black Black "4 color". In other words it uses C, M, Y and K to create black rather than simply set K 100%. This creates problems for me when I print things on my laser CMYK printer, because it pulls in fact all four black create toner cartridges ink. I printed out a 300-page document which was ALL black text last week and was surprised when, half by printing, I ran out of YELLOW ink!

Also, when I create documents for commercial printing, what I often do, the problem with four black color is not wasted ink, its registration. Its very difficult for the press to save the black text is built using the four colors. Especially with the small text.

Is there a way to DEFAULT photoshop do all black PURE black? And also this would include shadows. Even the shadows must be pure black. Thank you!

If you insist in Ps, then you must work in CMYK destination space and then when you do your text layers, just the spec as 100% black. Convert your images color separately prior to their importation into the final doc and you'll have the best of both world, less, of course, the sharp kind that would receive you if you let the imagesetter solve it at its native resolution instead of as a halftone. Then, after all that is done, you will need to make sure that there is no color inadvertently conversions downstream where a reconversion can screw with your black generation. If the downstream conversion is done, they must be done with profiles of connection of device set up to preserve the original black gen.

But even after all that, there is no reason not to use IDS to make even smaller announcements. The size of the announcement has no impact on the merits of the application for the work, and ID is really the most appropriate.

As you laser printer, your original post said that you were printing of 300 pages of text, so, given that you want to check the black only option and do with it. Again, same printing to a laser printer, if you have mixed color images, you must be in final CMYK mode and have you type spec'd correctly, the printer prints all that is spec'd but only as long as there is no downstream of color conversions, which means you can print through a true CMYK RIP with your laser.

  • A few questions about the colors of Patone

I have a few questions about patone color since it is the first time that I use. I want to use them to create a paper letterhead and business cards in two colors.

    1)

I don't understand that no sex is more than coated patone washed out colors. I heard that it's because the way paper absorbs the inkt. That is why the same results inkt in different colors on different papers (right?). My question is why is the patone black no sex so different than black normal (c = 0 m = 0 y = 0, k = 100) or black intense:

    blacks.png

When I print a normal document with cmyk, I can get pretty dark black color. How is it that I can't have this dark with patone color black color? Even text documents printed on a cheap printer can get a darker color than the color of Patone. He looks way too grey for me.

    (2) a first model, I want to print of patone in CMYK color (since I have like 10 different colors on a page of quick comparison). I know these CMYK colors distinguish the colors of patone and I can't get a representation of 100%. But is there a way to convert patone CMYK values?

I hope some of you can help me with my questions.

    Thank you.

You can get shades CMYK Pantone in Illustrator, (Swatches Panel > Open Swatch Library > color books > + PANTONE Color Bridge Coated or lying) but in my opinion, what's the point?  If you print to a digital printer, just use RGB (HSB) or CMYK. Personally, I never use CMYK called "equivalents." from Pantone

Pantone colors are all mixed pigmented inks, which are fluorescent beyond the limits of the range of RGB and CMYK in particular. The original Pantone Matching System (PMS) was created for the printing industry. He described formulations of ink pigmented for each of its colors.

Most digital printers (laser or inkjet) use CMYK. The range of CMYK is MUCH SMALLER than many mixed inks, printed on papers either paved or unpaved can deliver. When you specify no sex Pantone ink in artificial intelligence, according to Pantone conversion tables, HAVE "about" what will look like this color on a sheet no bed, try using CMYK. -In my opinion, this has little relevance to the real world conditions and should be avoided in most situations.

If your project must be printed on a press printing with Pantone inks spots, then by all means, use Pantone colors. But don't trust the colors of the screen; rather get a Pantone swatch book and watch real inks on paper lying and uncoated, depending on the stock you will use on the press.

With printing decreases rapidly for inkjet and web printers, Pantone has attempted to expand its relevance beyond the traction-date of publication (in the books and software alliances, with one such as Adobe) his old PMS inks and their supposed equivalent LAB and CMYK. I say "supposed" because even once, monitors RGB and CMYK inks can never be literally equivalent to many Pantone inks. But if you go to your project on a printing press printing, Pantone inks are still very relevant as of the "tones".

I also put my preferences I > appearance of black both display all blacks accurately and output all blacks accurately. The only exception to this may be when you print on a digital printer, where there should be no problem checking.

Rich black in artificial intelligence is a phenomenon of the screen, at least in the Prefs > appearance of Black, you specify also "out all inks like Rich Black"-something I'd do it EVER do so out for a real printing press. Still, I put my black people in artificial intelligence at the "output All Blacks Acurately" during a press release. If you fail to do so, then the press you will see any minor issue registration, with C, M and look at the back, especially around black characters.  UGH!

    Good luck!  :+)

  • Question about video drivers Satellite P100-257

    Hello.
Question about video driver. Version 14.25... Works (tells... 945 GM chipset); 14.27--works but with ocassional problems (tells... 945GM/GU); version 14,29... (said 945GM/GU) - does not work at all - black screen, but you can hear sounds which tells that XP does all right.

Why that? And what is GU? Pilot info says it is for 945GM, pilot says he's for 945GM/GU.

All kinds of three said they are for Mobile Intel 945 GM Express chipset. Who initially my machine have said there. In section "video card" my machine said no Intel - some Calg... - don't remember exactly the name.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

As much as I know Satellite P100-257 supports the graphics card Mobile Intel 945GM. The code name of Intel's GM Calistoga
This is not the same thing as the chipset Intel 945GM/GU. Both are different and so the graphics drivers are not totally compatible!

The Intel page provides some interesting info on these chipsets:
    Mobile Intel Express Chipset 945GM

Unfortunately, I have not found anything on the 945GM/GU.

  • Rich black display: Brown in files created in InDesign CC

    I have a file in InDesign CS5.5, and it has a rich black shade as C = 75, M = 68, Y = 67, K = 90. It displays very well, it prints well, fantastic.

I take this same shade and put it in a new document with my recently installed InDesign CC. Rich black comes out: brown. I don't know what it will be printed as, but I want to display correctly before I worry about something else. Changing the appearance of blacks in preferences does nothing, doesn't change the performance mode or screen display.

Is there some kind of default new CC (or CS6) which is originally black display mode like that?

You probably have another working CMYK space located in both versions.

  • Question about the tools Panel...

I have a question about the Panel edge tools animate:

In the future, edge animate will have a rich set of drawing tools? At the moment, so wanted to have a symbol, lets say a 'dog', I would have to draw everything first in Illustrator or Photoshop, and then import it into Edge animate (because EA basically allows me to draw rectangles and circles only). In future versions, will there be tools like 'Pen tool' or 'Gum' and other drawing tools know Flash Professional to create symbols?

    Thank you

    JH

    Hi JH,.

Sorry, but we can't comment specifically about whether or when any functionality in the future versions of edge animate. What we can do, is listen to feedback from our users, and to add feature requests for the EA team who can be considered for future versions of edge animate.

When new releases are published, there is also a list of the new features added... so stay tuned!

    Thank you

  • Many questions about the HP 50 g

I just ordered a HP 50 g graphic calculator! I have a few questions about this so hang on tight! What is the USB connector on the calculator? Mini-USB, micro USB, or is it a connector owner, "custom". Then, it would be possible to connect a keyboard to the HP 50 g by using the USB Port? Is there a program that would make this possible? (I doubt it would work if you plug it..) I have a Mini-USB to female USB 2.0 connector. So I could just plug the keyboard right, provided that the port on the calculator is a Mini-USB Port. If this is not so that I could use my female to female USB adaptor to connect the keyboard.

  • Question about warranty after exchanges of RAM on Satellite module series

    Hello together,

I have a question about the warranty. My laptop is 5 months old and now I want to improve it with more RAM. I want to do it myself, and now I'm wondering if the warranty will be getting hurt.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Concerning

    TiG3r

For new models of laptops the RAM upgrade described in s operating manuals. It is public act and it shows the owner of the notebook how do RAM upgrade only.

If Toshiba offers something like this he won't have the negative influence of valid warranty.
Buy a compatible module and RAM upgrade.

    Bye and good luck!

    Hello

I am about to order a Satellite P300 - 18 M and have just a few questions about this:

(Although these may apply for other similar Satellite/Equium P300.)

Is the touchpad made by / to use the Alps or Synaptics driver?

It has the Wireless N network card, is the map made by Intel or Realtec?

And also, someone has experience with face recognition software to connect?

If so, does it take a lot of time to initalise?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jack

    Hello

The P300 - 18M belongs to the PSPCCE series.
It uses the two touchpad drivers. Synaptics & Alps Electric
There is an Intel 802.11agn minicards WLan installed

The face recognition is a nice tool but local to be illuminated and you must take your face the right of the post sometimes it of not very easy

But if you face is recognized correctly that the connection should work properly

You can download and install a new e-mail program when you download Windows Live via Microsoft Update. You can select the components of Windows Live, you want to include by checking a box for each you want. I installed all the. Or you can use Outlook, if you have Microsoft Office and you want to install it.

  • A few questions about the difference between the Satellite P70, L70, S70

    Hello, I have a lot of questions about the P70, L70, S70 series that come with a 1920 x 1080 panel.

    (1) what are the differences between the L70 and S70 series? With the exception of the RAM and HARD drive capacity, books seem pretty identical.

    (2) P70, L70, S70 doesn't support a 2nd HARD drive or it's just the P70 series that support?

    (3) all the three (P70, L70, S70 series) come with the same TFT panels?

    (4) of the above series, which supports mSata?

    (5) all the model of each series are delivered with support from mSata? For example, it could be that L70 - a - 13 m supports mSata is not the case of the L70-a-146?

    (6) all the foregoing, are delivered with a S - ATA II or III S - ATA interface?

    (7) who is the best of these series listed? I'm trying to understand what makes the big difference of S70 to P70 except for the envelope for example.

    Thank you in advance.

    > (1) what are the differences between the series L70 and S70? With the exception of the RAM and HARD drive capacity, books seem pretty identical.

What models Sat L70 and S70 do you mean exactly? There are different L70-xxx-xxx and S70 models on the market that supports different hardware specifications.

    (> S70 2) P70, L70, support a 2nd drive HARD or is - it just the series P70 that support?
As you can see in this [Sam P70 HDD replacement document, | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3903II0000R01.htm] the P70 series supports the 2nd drive Bay HARD, BUT even if there is a 2nd HARD drive Bay, this does not mean that you can use the 2nd HARD drive. In the case where the 2nd HARD drive Bay are equipped with HARD drive connector, you can use the 2nd HARD drive

I also found the [Sam L70/S70 HDD replacement | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/CRU3703HG0000R01.htm] the document on the Toshiba page and there I see this 2nd HARD drive Bay is not available

(> 3) all three (P70, L70, S70 series) come with the same TFT panels?
See point 1). Different P70, L70, S70 models were equipped with different material parts.

(> 4) of the series above, which takes in charge mSata?
As far as I know that some P70 models are equipped with an mSATA SSD of 256 GB.

(> 5) do all the model of each series are delivered with support mSata? For example, it could be that L70 - a - 13 m supports mSata is not the case of the L70-a-146?
See point 4) not all models supports the same hardware specifications

(> 6) all of the above, come with a S - ATA II or III S - ATA interface?
I don t think that SATA III is supported. I guess it would be SATA II

(> 7) which is the best of these series listed? I'm trying to understand what makes the big difference of S70 to P70 except for the envelope for example.
Not easy to answer because there are too many models released in Europea.
And not all models are available in each country. So I guess you will have to look for the models that have been released in your country.

  • Satellite L650-11R - a few questions about this

    Hello there :-)

I have a few questions about my new L650.

I've never had Toshiba notebook before so I apologize if some of these "quirks" are actually quite normal on this laptop. I really want to hear the views of other users L650.

    1)
First of all, by the time I turned it on I saw gradient thin (1-2 mm) along the right edge of the screen that goes from the bottom up. Maybe "degraded" isn't the right word, but it seems that since two or three pixels are kind of discoloration or lose brightness/sharpness to the edge along the straight bezel. It is not really that visible, looks like the colors are desaturated a bit here or brightness is a bit lacking. He can be seen everywhere (bios or no color in Windows, but better in the lighter background).
The left side (or other) seems ok, all this along the right edge is somewhat suspicious. If one can compare? I don't know if it's something to worry about or is just supposed to be like that.

    2)
The other thing I noticed heating of the processor (Intel i3 330M) and GPU (ATi Mobility Radeon 5650). It's pretty hot here right now (I would say that the temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius when using cell phones). He is sitting on the hard surface (table) and nothing is blocking the vents.
However, at "rest" (surf the web & regular light stuff), average CPU temp hovers around 58 ° C. It usually goes from 45 to 62 in just a few minutes after starting, and then I can hear and see (Toshiba PC Health Monitor) evacuate the kicks in. Temp goes back to 50 +, event stops and then the temp rises to 60 + until the vent is used again.
During load full (Prime95 or some games), CPU is going all the way up to 75 degrees (the highest being 77). Fan runs at 75 to 77% during this time, never go faster.

GPU idling is usually around 5 degrees above temp CPU (62-65). During full load (for example. Benchmark of Far Cry 2), I see a lot of stuttering with the latest drivers Catalyst and DX10 (not sure if the stuttering has something to do with heat), otherwise it is ok (no artifacts or anything like that). Temp of GPU during the loading goes up to 74-75, fan speed is locked at 30%, the frequency of the heart 5650 is 450 MHz. left side of the laptop (vent and below) is pretty hot, while the keyboard is warm (or slightly warmer who who).

These time seems correct and safe in the long term? I'd rather events works all the time (they aren't really very strong) and keeping time less than 50, but there are just wishful pious bios control events and I can't control not the bios. :-)

    3)
This is just General related products. :-)
Official specifications of Toshiba L650 say ATi 5650 (between other low range GPU), but I saw a few specifications calling for there 5730 (same model 11R). Is there really a Satellite L650 with ATi 5730 GPU models?

Sorry for the long post, I tried to include the best possible description that I could do. :-)

    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the additional info!
