Question/AppMonitor performance impact

Hello

I installed the AppMonitor for a list of the 20 process. Is a comercial product and process control the State of the recovery and begin the process.

I know he uses between 5 and 10 seconds to start again.

My question is:

I could put the quick check at 2 seconds with minimal use of resources or of this change will have an impact in the monitored host or in the FMS?

Best regards

David Fernandez

The best practice is to configure the Foglight agents to collect less frequently than the maximum expected collection time.

If the agent takes 5-10 seconds to collect the parameters, the frequency of collection must be set no more frequently than every 15 seconds. In general, I wouldn't recommend the AppMonitor agent configuration to collect more frequently than every 30 seconds.

More frequent collections impact use of resources on the monitored host and, to a lesser extent, the FMS.

As the agent of AppMonitor will be off sustained next year, it would be a good idea to validate the Infrastructure Officer for process data collection. If ICR agent doesn't have all the features you need, the earlier, these requirements are reported, the better.

Kind regards

    Here is your answer. First of all, to use Chrome as your browser, then you need to go with at least 4vCPU * 32 GB of RAM & adjust the segment size of java for SSO, Tomcat, (TC) Management Server, inventory server and profile based storage to "refine" vCenter device with DB Oracle embedded or external memory. I did, and performance gains went 10 X. This includes the vSAN enabled running clusters. My recommendation that works very well based on design documents:

  • The performance impact on the size of the CHM file

    Is there any performance impact depending on the size of a CHM file?

    Main issues people with the help file performance (whether a CHM file) are related to the number of images, the hotspots DHTML, bookmarks, and links they have in a topic. The number of subjects in a CHM shouldn't be a problem. What exactly you are trying to access the performance impact?

  • Question about the rowchain and performance impact

    Hi all

    We have a table is partitioned and we insert data with values in column PK only leaving all other null column values. After one or two days we will update the column values.

    We are to suspect that our table suffers from rowchain. We did no analysis to see the rowchain as he is busy 24/7 system.  system stats "table continues line" could not useful as we do scan on partitions full and never no index lookup.

    Assuming that we suffer from rowchain what is the best practice to follow?

    (1) should we insert the dummy data in the first place? We wanted to insert some dummy values that is going to be same length of length of data for future update. What is this popular help with problem the chain line?

    Made Oracle deletes data on the block and reuses the same space for the new updated value? (Assuming that the new value of data will be exact same length)

    (2) if the method above doesn't work, then the only solution it to have high PCTFREE?

    -Thank you

    That should help, if your update does not increase the size of the line is not necessary for oracle to migrate.

    You another issue of additional work would not set. What is a two step process?

    How will I know how much of an impact on the performance my powerCLI report will have on the performance of my Server vCenter?
    If I run a report for example which attracts a large number of events of vCenter Server and sorts through them, is that the processing and memory usage will be mainly on the virtual machine, I am under the report of?  How much charge it will put on vCenter itself?  (I see use RAM up substantially on the virtual machine, I am running the report)

  • Oracle statistics performance impact

    We had empty and loaded tables more then 100 million lines, and our DBA put together the statiscis. Now, the tables are truncated, and we need to load data into empty tables.
    My question is applying the statistics of the last run will improve performance or there is no performance gain by applying statistics.

    I'm not a DBA, and so apologies if I ask a question wrong. Thank you

    Published by: anuragtandon on February 1, 2013 21:47

    If you are truncating and make the daily load in bulk then it's an unstable table for sure. Let me paste here what oracle white paper said "an unstable table is one where the amount of data changes radically over time. For example, a queue table orders, which, at the beginning of the day, the table is empty. As the day progresses and orders are placed the table starts to fill. Once each order is processed, it is deleted in the tables, so at the end of the day, the table is empty, once again.

    If you base you on automatic statistics together in order to maintain statistics on these tables, then the statistics should always be that the table was empty because it was empty during the night, when the work missed. However, during the day, the table can have hundreds of thousands of lines in there.

    In this case, it is best to gather a representative set of statistics for the table during the day when the table is filled, and then block them. Locking statistics will prevent the automatic statistics collection job among most of write them. Alternatively, you can rely on a dynamic sampling to collect statistics on these tables. The optimizer uses dynamic sampling during the compilation of a SQL statement to collect some basic statistics on the tables before the optimization of education. Although statistics collected by dynamic sampling are not as a quality or as complete as statistics collected using the DBMS_STATS package, they should be good enough in most cases. »

  • Size video questions/slow performance after update by 2014 CC

    Hi all

    I'm not a business editor, so please bear with me here. I spent the last few days around looking for an answer and were not able to achieve much.

    I'm on a Macbook 2011 end Pro, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6750 M 512 MB, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b).

    I have spent a month cut my first little experimental feature including the Deputy Editor set up for me (and which is currently absent).

    My computer is not rocket fast, but I was able to complete the first past little on first CC (7.2.2?) with few major problems.

    A week ago, I upgraded to first CC 2014 8.0.

    I immediately noticed that my images went from this:

    Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 8.45.39 PM.png

    To do this:

    Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 8.44.43 PM.png

    (Details of the images):

    Because you might be able to say, we shot very old school VHS to help sell the setting of the 1990s. It was a nightmare to find the best way to export everything. I still don't know if we did it entirely correctly - and I hope that this is not the cause of these problems. Also, I know that VHS is only SD - we chose to import the highest quality, which is 1920 x 1440 and ProRes 422, because more of the precision of image was present in low light.)

    --

    I found that I had to select all the clips in each scenario, right click and select 'Set to the size of the image' to have the complete video picture once more. Then I had to restore everything.

    As I tried to regain my edit, the performance has been much slower. Reading is a nightmare. I constantly get the beach ball of death. It takes several minutes to save the project. And he started to plant about once an hour above all.

    But I continued to work for the last eight days, hoping that I would be able to remedy this somehow.

    I have cleared the cache with no luck.

    I read that I could uncheck "Composite linear color" to make it faster, but it wasn't a problem during the last generation.

    My reading and resolution paused is 1/4.

    I read that I should update my operating system OS X Mavericks, but keeps crashing too! Haha.

    I understand that my system is not the best, but I want to just my project to perform as well as on the first CC before the update.

    I just talked to a technician in Adobe who basically told me that he was not a solution here to also back to first CC from 2014 CC - or buying a new Macbook.

    But there must be a way I can get the same performance I did the upgrade, right? I have a feeling that something happened to how CC 2014 using the existing images.

    (Also, I noticed that the clips where I increased the zoom, i.e. 100% and 110%, were back to their original size. And instead of saying 100%, he said now 300%. I guess it's because of the "image size"SETTING", but this was not the case on the first CC.)

    Does anyone have ideas, what can I do here?

    Here are my settings in sequence on CC 2014:

    Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 8.54.58 PM.png

    And CC:

    Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 10.01.44 PM.png

    For some reason, some parts of this window are dimmed and not 2014 cc. Not sure if this has anything to do with the question.

    Thanks a ton in advance everybody! I can't really afford to lose 8 days of work, any help would be greatly greatly appreciated!

    I'll be more than happy to provide additional information.

    I'm really looking to find, in the end, if my only two options are: a) go back to first CC and lose my recent work or b) buy a new laptop, which I can't afford.

    (As a question, is there a way I can transfer my recent work of 2014 CC to CC? I understand this is not backwards compatible, but there must be at least a partial solution).

    Best,

    Jon

    You shot SD... If you really need to edit in a sequence of SD.

  • Space/performance impact of attachments on oracle applications

    Hello everyone!

    We are about to go to allow attachments in our Oracle Apps R12.1.3 (RHEL 5.5 64-Bit. Database 11.1.0.7). Before you go for it, however, we want to know how it will impact storagewise and performance wise.

    Thanks in advance!

    Attachments are stored in the table FND_LOBS - attachments are not compressed. There should be no performance issues don't related - extra storage will be necessary depending on how many and how big are the attachments. Store attachments on the file (instead of the database) system is also an option.

  • Question about performance statistics

    William-

    I was looking on the 'doc' House to see if there was reference to the period of time represented in the performance data given in the output of the script.

    Can you tell me what we actually with the host / cluster (CPU, memory) performance statistics?

    Also - I was wondering why "ESX/ESXi Hardware Configuration" includes CPU utilization and memory - that's just how the API works?  It just seems odd to include these data with summary material...

    Forgive the noob questions (and anything that might follow) I (FINALLY) movement in a project that will allow me to work much more consistent with the API, and this script makes so much to make my life easier.  We put the spotlight on performance and the ability of prediction, so I'll try to learn what can offer the API (overlooking DOCS 9840 & 10665 as time lost...)

    Thank you!

    These are just rough summary level a time interval counters, if you are looking for granular performance information, you will need to look in performanceManager which is the entitity wherein you will get more details.

  • A question on the impact of SQL * PLUS SERVEROUTPUT Optionconcernant v$ sql

    Hello everyone,
    SQL> SELECT * FROM v$version;

    BANNER
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production

    SQL>

    OS : Fedora Core 17 (X86_64) Kernel 3.6.6-1.fc17.x86_64
    I would like to ask a question about SQL * Plus SET SERVEROUTPUT option on / off and its impact on queries on views such as v$ sql and v$ session. This is the problem

    In fact I define three variables in SQL * Plus to store sidcolumns, serial # and prev_sql_id of session $ v in order to be used later, several times in various other queries, while I work always in the current session.

    So, here's how
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON;  -- I often activate this option as the first line of almost all of my SQL-PL/SQL script files

    SET SQLBLANKLINES ON;

    VARIABLE mysid NUMBER
    VARIABLE myserial# NUMBER;
    VARIABLE saved_sql_id VARCHAR2(13);

    -- So first I store sid and serial# for the current session
    BEGIN
        SELECT sid, serial# INTO :mysid, :myserial#
        FROM v$session
        WHERE audsid = SYS_CONTEXT('UserEnv', 'SessionId');
    END;
    /

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    -- Just check to see the result
    SQL> SELECT :mysid, :myserial# FROM DUAL;

        :MYSID :MYSERIAL#
    ---------- ----------
           129   1067

    SQL>
    Now let's say I want to run the following query as the last SQL statement is executed within my current session
    SELECT * FROM employees WHERE salary >= 2800 AND ROWNUM <= 10;
    According to the reference of database Oracle® 11 g Release 2 (11.2) description of session $ v

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e25513/dynviews_3016.htm#REFRN30223]

    column prev_sql_id includes the sql_id of the last executed sql statement for the sid and serial data which, in the case of my example, it will be the above mentioned query SELECT on the employees table. So right after the SELECT statement on the employees table I have run the following
    BEGIN
        SELECT prev_sql_id INTO :saved_sql_id
        FROM v$session
        WHERE sid = :mysid AND serial# = :myserial#;
    END;
    /

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    SQL> SELECT :saved_sql_id FROM DUAL;

    :SAVED_SQL_ID
    --------------------------------
    9babjv8yq8ru3

    SQL>
    The value of sql_id, I'm supposed to find all the information on the sliders for my SELECT statement and also its value sql_text in v$ sql. Here is what I get when I query v$ sql on the stored sql_id
    SELECT child_number, sql_id, sql_text
    FROM v$sql
    WHERE sql_id = :saved_sql_id;

    CHILD_NUMBER   SQL_ID          SQL_TEXT
    ------------  --------------   -------------------------------
    0              9babjv8yq8ru3    BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(:LINES, :NUMLINES); END;
    So instead of
    SELECT * FROM employees WHERE salary >= 2800 AND ROWNUM <= 10;
    get the next value for the value of sql_text
    BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(:LINES, :NUMLINES);
    Which is of course not what I expected to find in v$ sql for the given sql_id.

    After a little googling, I found the next thread on OTN forum, where it was suggested (well, I think that may not be exactly the same problem) to disable SERVEROUTPUT.

    Problem with dbms_xplan.display_cursor

    It was exactly what I did
    SET SERVEROUTPUT OFF
    After that, I repeated the procedure as a whole and this time everything worked pretty much as expected. I checked SQL * more documentation for SERVEROUTPUT
    and also the page of v$ session, yet I don't find nothing indicating that SERVEROUTPUT should be operated off every time that views such as v$ sql, v $session
    are queired. I don't really understand the link in what concerns the impact that can have on the other or better say rather, why is there an impact

    Could someone kindly do a few details?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kind regards

    Hi Dariyoosh,
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON has the effect of dbms_output.get_lines running after each statement. Not only related to the system view.

    Below is what Tom Kyte is explained in this page:

    Now, sqlplus sees this feature and says "Hey, it wouldn't be nice for me to empty the buffer to the screen for the user? Thus, they added the command SQLPlus "set serveroutput we" which does two things

    (1) he tells SQLPLUS you would like run dbms_output.get_lines after each statement. You would like to make this network rounded up after each call. You want that this additional load will take place (think of a script of installation with hundreds / thousands of statements to run - maybe, just maybe you don't want this extra call after each call)

    (2) SQLPLUS automatically calls the API dbms_output "activate" to activate the buffering which is in the package.

    Kind regards.

  • 2 running on the same computer - Question of Performance vmwares!

    Hi everyone, Im quite new post on these forums, so I hope Im posting this question on the right place, if not, forgive me.

    My question is,

    Im trying to run 2 workstations vmware on my computer with my main window.

    I'm using windows xp sp3 on the vmwares as well as on the main window

    Well, my problem is, it seems that with 2 vmwares running, some programs I opened on two of them will slow down the vmwares as it rly looks like an old computer running on vista (for example)...

    So my question is, is anyway that I can do the 2 vmwares perform better?

    Only a vmware works perfectly, but when I got the 2 open and I try to run different things on two of them, they slow down and hit low lvls performance...

    Well,.

    Ive tried to put more memory ram for each vmware

    Ive tried to put less memory ram for vmware wach

    Ive tried to lower resolutions or colors or themes

    But none of them gave positive results, I think that lower the ram to each of them did work a little better, but not as much as I need.

    Now, I had 2 vmwares and 1 of them is cloned from the other and Im wondering if it matters at all in terms of future performance, exactly what I need now.

    My computer specs are as follows:

    core2 quad 2.83 ghz processor

    4 GB ram 800 mhz

    XFX 750i sli motherboard

    SATA hd

    I RLY want and need to have these 2 vmwares works perfectly on this computer.

    What can I do? And/or what say u?

    Any material of parts upgraded? Or the problem is the configuration of the vmwares?

    As I said Im wondering if the vmware clone affects this, and if I should just create a new vmware instead of cloning that... etc etc.

    Or if I should buy more ram... or if its all in the vmwares configuration

    Please let me know what can I do to increase performance or have a perfect combination of 2 stable vmware running on my computer with programs inside also running well.

    Programs are not heavy, Id say like programs for simple tasks. Ive checked the processor used and he's not above 30 to 40%, so I really think it's something I can improve in the settings or parameters of ram or vmware is not cloned configuration or something around that.

    If please post and correct me if Im wrong and tell me what I can do!

    Thank you very much in advance.

    I run multiple instances of VMW7.01 every day.

    Most of your performance problems will be your hard drive bottlenecking, I run W7 64 b with a few gadgets that monitor the CPU, disk IO & RAM so I can see when the hard drives work flat.

    In any case of the performance tips.

    If you have the RAM in VM 7.01 Edition, preferences, tab memory. If you have 4 GB RAM to say or to choose before integrate all VMs reserved host RA

    If your don't have the ram then choose the Middle option. and in all cases try to allocate as much ram as you host can. For example on my 8 Gb VM will allow me to allocate more 5990 MB is needed I guess under W7.

    With regard to your guests. Change the settings for the Virtual Machine, use what is recommended for XP you can use 512 MB, processors, I have not really noticed much difference in performance if I allocate 4 cores or a carrot.

    Disk space I allocate a sum say 40 GB to a XP guest, but I leave the disk extend depending on use so it is not allocated in advance disk space. If you click the utilities button you can also defragment hard drive here as well. I don't know how that compares to defragment the guest himself, but if you have a lot of time in your hands, I guess you could try the guest operating system own Defragmenter, then try the Defragmenter utility VM.

    Network Adpaters get better performance if NAT value, if not to communicate with the host to a guest and vice versa using a bridge the package must go down the wire to the router/server and then travel back to the host even if it's the same thread! You will notice more if you use shared folders & bridged.

    On the Options tab of comments, Advanced option, I think, but maybe wrong that this memory Page trimming may create rea/disk writes further that, if you have a slow hard drive in the first place will be just slow it more. This is one of these options that might work for you, or it could slow a little more things up according to specs pc HW host. What you can do if you have more disks is have your guests to reside in a number of disks to balance i/o across.

    These suggestions can be used to both host and guest operating system Windows.

    In the XP Control Panel, System icon, Advanced tab, settings (Performance) button, choose the setting for best performance option. It will take off the ontop of the Basic windows controls MS fancy graphics overlay, so XP will look like for example W2k/ME/98. Also, if you want to run more than one virtual machine at a time in the host the Advanced tab click and change programs at bottom Services.This time slicing CPU so more time CPU is shared with anything else instead of saying 70% of the time CU are accessible for the currently running program. That's what I run on my W7 host because it passes more easily then. Change use of Programsto system Cache memory to agree that it is more dependent of HW. Finally let windows manage its own virtual memory for optimal performance.

    Other things to consider is the indexing disc, view the properties of your hard drive and turn off disk indexing, well as its only supposed to throw to rest its always something else to slow down your machine with as well as other unnecessary programs that run as a service or an application next to the system clock.

    Finally, make sure that your AV scanner comments VM files.

    I think that kind of covers most of the settings, but I'm sure others will know of others.

    Good luck!

  • VMFS extend computing performance impact

    Hi guys,.

    I would like to know how I can calculate the impact on performance (CPU resource mainly) to have a BATCH of VMFS extend (I know it's it is not advisable) on an ESXi 3.5 environment?

    Indeed, we have prepared 2 ESX Server with 70 VM total and an average of 35% CPU (normally we should have 5%), I want to better manage this problem (as VC report on average 20% of the CPU usage) by eliminating the other thing that can touch the CPU perf... ہ VMFS extension...

    Thanks for your comments

    Concerning

    Julien

    When using extends as far as I know, there is no loss of performance. It could even increase performance

  • question about performance optimization

    Hi friends,

    In our project, according to the changes of condition, a developer has changed its select query.
    This query uses essentially most of the rows in a table
    (consider table_a with col1, col_2, col_3, and col_4 using oracle 10 g DB
    Col_1 is PK).

    The query will in a manner similar to this.
    create or replace package pkg_sample is
       type ref_cur is ref cursor;
       procedure proc_ex(
          p_col_2   table_a.col_2%type,
          p_col_3   table_a.col_3%type,
          p_col_4   table_a.col_4%type,

    Now, I have a question regarding the use of NVL on both sides of the select query.

    As our request includes not PK, its doing a table scan on the entire table full.

    Now, we can create a function based index... do we need to have indications for each combination? (i.e. when the col_2 is not null and col_3 is null, etc...)

    It don't you guys think, we can use NVL on both sides or is it possible to write the select query for maximum performance?

    Thank you
    Jack

    instead of NVL, I would use this:

    and   (a.col2 = b.col2
           or (a.col2 is null and b.col2 is null)
          )

    This way, you avoid conflicts with the coded hard 'a '.

  • Question on the impact of Garbage collection

    I get messages in the log as below...
    2009-09-09 14:33:21.677/691.607 Oracle coherence EE 3.5/459 < D5 > (thread = PacketPublisher, Member = 4): experienced a delay of communication ms 538 (GC distance likely) with Member (Id = 7, Timestamp is 14:24:51.312 2009-09-09, address = 10.0.0.205:8094, MachineId = 2765, location = site: server07, process: 10125, role = ServerContainer); 22 packages reprogrammed, PauseRate = 0.0010, threshold = 1976

    In the case above Member 4 is an active storage node and Member 7 is not.
    Basically, it runs a distributed cache, in a client/server operation.

    I understand that this basically means consistency server is waiting to communicate to the customer and cannot due to the garbage collection operation.

    This is perfect, we expect in this scenario, the client JVM to have breaks from garbage collection, we cross GC optimization at the moment.

    To get to the question later :) Does this mean that this node is unable to communicate to other nodes of customer for 538ms? And so the customer break GC affects consistency server node and therefore all client nodes?
    I expect the cache to always respond to requests to take, but if there is only one responsible for thread of the publication of the packages to clients (as indicated by the name of the thread) so I can't imagine it would be blocked.

    I don't see anything specific in the forums about this. I found the following
    "Although it is quite possible to see the log messages indicating that a cache server" has experienced behind communication ", these messages are generated by the TCMP layer and have no impact on the responsiveness of cache to requests for other customers service." ""
    But wasn't 100% sure that it meant no effect, or no impact on making queries.

    Thank you
    Steve

    This means that this node will be suspended during this period.

    Of course other nodes will be able to continue, but if you do something that affects this node he asks should wait (for example, the aggregation on all nodes).

    However, if you have found (for example) an object of key to another node that will be just fine.

    There are many solutions to these problems, but all can take a huge amount of time.

    (1) by using CG (parallel) differential ParNew
    (2) using the experimental (parallel) GC G1 in JDK6_14 but ready to use in JDK7. I read an article on Chicago Board of Options Exchange using it wisely.
    (3) to aid in time real Sun JVM
    (4) to aid Oracle's JRockit

  • Question about performance.

    Hello

    So I have a mbpr 15 "end 2013
    2.6 i7 quad
    16 gb 1600 mhz

    Gforce NIVIDA 750 (2 GB gpu)

    Update on everything

    I use 2 Dell u2515H on full resolution as resolution 2560 x 1440, the macbook is in clamshellmode, and I connect just like this
    1 TB to a thunderbolt dock

    1 TB as displayport towards each other.

    My macbook is running like crazy fans and I do nothing, I tried to adjust the 1080 displays or something less, but fans are always warping.

    My old macbook pro could run two screens with no problems, the fans only hit when I started working.

    Surely the gpu should be able to handle this.

    And Yes, I plug in the charger, connect the thunderbolts and then press my keyboard to go real clamshell.

    Any help would be received with joy.

    The best
    Johannes Drakenberg

    It may be a question if this is normal or not.  Install a temperature/speed control application.  When this phenomenon occurs, post a picture of the temperature/fan speed.
