  I'm having a recurring problem with the background goes black instead of 50% gray when you use Photoshop in maximized screen Mode.  I'm currently under CS3 on Mac Pro 8 - core with the latest OS 10.5.8.

  I had the same problem before on my PowerMac Dual Core.

  During installation, it works normally with the gray background.  Trashing preferences solves the problem, but it comes back.  Could I be inadvertently hitting a keyboard command that is the cause to happen?  Other thoughts on a solution?  I searched without result documents.
