Question of fonts in InDesign

I'm on a Mac running 10.6.8 and using creative site 5.5. Today, suddenly, almost all Adobe fonts are not recognized by InDesign and Photoshop. New documents, documents former, seems not to matter. Other fonts seem to be good. Those who do not work in CS 5.5 seem to work in Word, and other software. Do not use font management software, just FontBook. Small businesses, where the owner is a technical support too, so... easy go. Thank you.

have you tried clearing that implements cache fonts?

  • A really basic question about fonts in InDesign

I'm new in the world of graphic design and teaching myself by trial and error and Lynda. One of my biggest problems in my project design is the selection of fonts. There are about 4 million, six hundred, two hundred twenty two thousand and seven policies .2 in the world and see that a 8 points of the just "Sample" version is not made for me.

I'm reluctant to apply each police to turn my text to see what it looks like. When searching the Web, fonts displayed in the glory of the point 20, require at least a download, if it's not a transaction by credit card as well. Am I missing some obvious sign that facilitates the selection of fonts Manager. Perhaps a preference secret which could consolidate at least of fonts by family instead of alphbetically?

Please help before go me blind. My eyes are starting to cross.

Thank you! in advance for your Help.

Oh Steve it is a better way to see the live type games, not black.

    Since InDesign Secrets.

Select the text frame with the direct Selection tool, by clicking in the character Panel. Use the arrow keys Ko, high-low, to see the change of type of live.

  • Google base fonts in InDesign

Hello. When I use Google Fonts in InDesign in most of the cases, the baseline fonts is far too low. Using the same font in Photoshop everthing seems to be fine. I use Windows 10 and, for example, the fonts 'Cairo '. Is it possible to get InDesign to show the fonts correctly?

    Thanks for any help, Daniel.

If what you mean is the distance between a line and the next, then this is the metric of the police involved. While I do not share the amount of the spacing distance, metrics were likely miscalculated as I don't see the reason for this value.

One of the reasons for this particular font settings are the inclusion of Arabic glyphs, which require a greater value than the glyphs of Latin/Latin extended because of the brands that are above and below the glyphs themselves.

If you do not need Arabic, Cairo is an Arabic version of Titilium Web.

    Advice much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Cannot access fonts with InDesign CC 2015

Help! I just downloaded the new 2015 versions of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and Muse of the Cloud. The problem I have now is that I can't change my fonts. InDesign sees the police, but does not allow me to click on the list and change the fonts. I thought it was because the version of the suitcase was old, so I've updated Suitcase Fusion 6 and the problem persists. Help, please.

I can change the police but only if I type the name in the box. It's frustrating. To make matter worse I didn't uncheck the box to keep the old version. All I see in the cloud is the old version of InDesign CS6. I want to just return in 2014.

Anyone have this problem or know of a fix.

    I use Mac OS 10.10.3.

    Thanks-Todd

    Hello

Sorry to see you facing problems with the latest version of InDesign.

We understand why this problem is considered and have another workaround and then deleting preferences and caches.

This issue is seen with the Menu mode of fonts "search first word only." Please use the 'Search font set name' mode to work around the problem so that solve us this problem.

To change the mode click the search icon (magnifying glass) the box to change the menu font and choose 'Search entire font name' in the drop down menu.

We deeply regret the inconvenience caused.

  • Where can I download associated fonts with InDesign?

    Hi all

I recently downloaded InDesign CS6 after purchase.  The Download site I noticed one, maybe two additional associated downloads that was InDesign fonts.  Unfortunately, after you download InDesign I couldn't find my way back to the source page in order to download fonts in InDesign.

Can someone point me to this page?

    Thank you for the charges,

    Gwyn.

Go to the Adobe Store for your country and sign in with your Adobe ID and password.

Click my orders and then my order history.

Locate the order number, and then click the download link in the downloads for the fonts column.

  • Fonts for InDesign

I have a few new fonts that I really like to use in InDesign CS4 (pending my upgrade to arrive).

I put the in a folder of fonts in Adobe InDesgn CS4 under Windows, Program Files, Adobe file.

My problem is that they do not appear in my list of fonts.  I tried Indd, closing and restarting my computer.  I'm doing something wrong?

    PC, Windows XP, CS4

    Thank you

In fact, they should work perfectly in the folder Fonts in InDesign, but won't work in InDesign. Put htem intothe system fonts will make it available for all applications.

Perhaps the fonts came in one archive .zip which must be expanded?

  • Problems with fonts in InDesign CS3 in Snow Leopard

Has anyone else had problems with the font book and InDesign CS3?

Just had some new Mac Mini running Snow Leopard against Migration Assistant an old Mini. Initially, every thing seems to be great. But on the opening of the ads in Indd CS3 I noticed that fonts disappeared, even if they have been enabled in the font book.

Then I reinstalled the necessary fonts and we don't use iLife and iTools products, I traded the Helvetica TrueType for the version of Adobe.

    It does not work...

So, I have rebuilt the Mac fonts installed, once again, a CD original and installed InDesign CS3 clean (orig DVD)...

Yet once again, did not work.

Now, I know I can put fonts required in the folder Fonts in InDesign, or store them in ~/Library/Fonts, but since we have a library of 3000 + policies that manage our users with the font book, it will become unworkable.

Anyone could launch a patch or fix this, another way...?

There is a Snow Leopard update, you will need to search in preferences/software update system after the upgrade. After the reboot, this problem has been elminated for me, fortunately!

  • missing fonts in Indesign CS3

I have a weird problem with missing fonts in InDesign CS3 and Photoshop CS3 under Windows 7 64-bit. PostScript fonts are not on their menu, but are listed as being installed in the menu \windows\fonts. Fonts are also available in Microsoft products and in Framemaker. The strange thing is that the old saved files that use PS fonts have always listed fonts (but not other fonts PS). If I open a file inherited with the particular font to PS, I can create a new InDesign file that will have this font available. If the legacy file is not open, the new file will not police as an option. I know that the CS3 products are pre-Win 7 64 bit, but Framemaker, for all its ancient code, works like a charm.

By fonts PostScript , we assume you mean fonts Type 1.

There was a problem in CS3 as you describe. The problem is solved with the CS4.

The solution is to copy the Type 1 fonts (both the.) PFB and. PFM for each font file) in the InDesign and Creative Suite-specific fonts directory. They will be seen by the CS3 applications.

  • Nexa fonts slows InDesign

    Hey guys,.

Been using InDesign for years, I have a question though.  There is a particular (rusty Nexa) font that I use for a job that seems slow InDesign down for analysis.  When I scroll the pages, it is slow and you see this content redesign.  Is it possible to speed it up?

I'm on a MacBook Pro 2011 and CS6, it is powerful enough.  It's just that a police.

    Any suggestions

    Thanks in advance

If titles were in their own areas of text (I bet they aren't!), then you can apply a framework of performance level object of «Fast Display» display

  • Different fonts in InDesign & Pages

Hello.  I am new to this forum and InDesign, but I'm having a problem and thought that someone may be able to help.

The problem is with a book that I have built and am printing in InDesign CS4 (for Mac)... Typography (Baskerville) seems different in InDesign it does in Apple's Pages or MS Word.  I use the same font to the same size.  None are in bold or italic.  The difference, which is much more pronounced on the printed page than on the screen, seems to be more often in thick letters.  In Pages and words, most of the lines is thin and there is a great contrast between thin and thick lines.  In InDesign, the thin lines appear to be thickened and there is less contrast, as if the text were medium weight.

It's disappointing, because I greatly prefer how the text appears in the Pages and Word.

It's a question that someone else has met?

    Thanks for the help,

    Ben

Because InDesign treats the text as a hybrid of the text characters as you know, and also as objects - that is, a character has a way around it (like an outline or border) and a filling inside the way - it is possible to define a line property for the path that is independent of the filling. (Sometimes the path is called "stroke;" a little ambiguous, because apply a line property to a path, such as thickness, color, pattern and a few others, is called "adding a stroke to a path" or simply "make a way".)

What it means for your situation, it's that if the paths of the text characters picked up a stroke property, they will look thicker and blockier. open spaces in letters as o, c, e, and so on, fills in. Select text and check its property STROKE anywhere that the race can be measured, for example the Panel concerned or the color of the characters of the panels property pane Styles of character or paragraph Styles.

The washed out low contrast may be due to the configuration of preferences for the appearance of Black. I think that it is by default in rich black rather than 100% black.

These adjustment differences can occur with the text that was created in another application and place/imported into InDesign.

Search for characters from the STROKE and the appearance of black in InDesign help.

EDIT: I forgot to say that you don't want generally no line (zero points) on the text. The appearance of black is more a matter of personal taste.

  • The Stempel Schneider - question marks font family

I hope you are all well. Adobe Font Folio 11, I have recommended Stempel Schneidler Std novel for a client of the Publisher of book of stories for children, but the question mark character (?) is strange - the dot is the basis you would expect, but the main race was made backwards! It is not usable, so I recommend Palatino just to the question mark, using find/replace. I see that another book published by Walker Books is set in Stempel Schneidler Roman and the text is Mark points, which are normal and recognizable. I can buy this version of Adobe, or is there another solution?

I am afraid that they have used the search & replace feature too.

There is no police of Stempel Schneidler without this question mark outstanding.

  • Missing fonts in Indesign

Hello, I have problems, find missing fonts in my Indesign CC program. At work, they use an earlier version of Indesign CS5 and of course the fonts are there, but when I work at home, I can't find the fonts anywhere in my CC version. I need this problem as I work from home due to problems of connectivity to work. I read in some forums of old, and I'm sorry, I guess I'm a noob here, but there was so much confusion open type, Extensis Suitcase... and so on.

I need a very clear answer how get these fonts on my computer. I don't know why Adobe have brought to this program. Also, I looked through fonts Type Adobes kit nothing helps. So, it's really confusing. Please help me because I need this resolved as soon as POSSIBLE!

At work, use file > package... and include the fonts. Take the case of the House package and the fonts should be available in the file without having to install.
