question of tool pen to curve lines!

Hello illustrators.

I watched this tutorial of 1 minute:

http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=7YuBcgJv6OM

and this guy did a beautiful curve, but what is the tool of his replacement? IM also add that it is a point between the line, but when I try to

a beautiful curve, rather im getting a triangular look line.

He is just using the pen tool. But check the General preferences. Disable remove Auto should NOT be checked if you want this behavior.

Personally I find this behavior, a pain in the long term, but you can use it if you like :-)

  • size of the line tool pen

Is it possible to adjust the size or the color of the line that is made by using the tool pen?

No, other than a hack to use with it to create a shape layer and put a hit on the way.

Means generally that you're trying to work on a layer locked.

  • New path-layers of all lines with the tool pen?

Hello! I am currently using Illustrator CS6 as a test version, and when I use the tool pen to make a beaver (school work), it all end in a single layer. I want to have a new layer-path of each line with the pen tool, so I can remove rows from the layer panel too. For the moment, it's a layer that has a picture of a beaver, and I can't see the individual lines that I drew. When I used CS5 recently I had no such problem.

There is a setting that I can change or does have something to do with the news of CS6?

If you want to see a 'sex' for each object changes the display of the layer panel by choosing Options from the Panel menu in the layer panel. In the lower part of the Panel options window, make sure that groups and objects are both checked. You will then see a 'sex' for each object.

I quote 'sex' here because technically they aren't the layers. They resemble layers and are in the layer panel, but they do not exactly allow options that allow actual layers. You can select and move objects in the Panel this way however.

  • Question about the pen tool (w / photo inside)

Hi all! I have a question about the pen tool. I think that this picture is very useful for my question:

    Demonstration.jpg

So in this pic is an orange rectangle, and within this rectangle is a blue strip. I would like the blue band surface perfectly (not too much and not covered) the edge of the rectangle. For example, on the lower end of the blue band, you can clearly see that the band does not extend quite far to the edge of the orange rectangle. At the top of the band, he's a little more (a little hard to see). I work with some complex shapes when you use the pen tool and it's really slow me down to compensate for over/under Forms. If she could just snap to the borders of the other forms that would make my life a lot easier. Thanks for reading and please help!

Duplicate the orange shape and change the fill color to blue. Draw your new shape on that layer, using the Intersect option.

  • Newbie question: using the pen tool

Hi, I drew a shape with the tool pen in Flash CS4. When I double click on the line, it highlights the whole shape, but I can not complete for some reason any.  If I single click, that part of the line is highlighted (before he changes the angle). How can I get this line to connect as a form to invoke filling on it?

    Thanks, Mike

This does not mean that having a closed shape.  is there a visible gaps?  (if you have a vision problem, you can use the magnifying glass tool.)

or post a screenshot of your sketch unselected.

  • Question of behaviour tool pen

When I want to draw a line in the vicinity or exactly on a trajectory of filtration the pen tool don't sart a new path access but still the one 'old '.

    Read the help:

Disable or temporarily replace the automatic pen tool

You can temporarily replace or disable the automatic change of the addition of anchor or delete Anchor Point tool.

    • To ignore temporarily switching, hold SHIFT as you position the tool pen on the selected path or an anchor point. This is useful when you want to start a new path at the top of an existing path. To prevent the shift to compel the pen tool, release shift before you release the mouse button.
    • To turn off change, choose the command Edition > Preferences > General (Windows) or Illustrator > Preferences > general (Mac OS), and select Disable Auto Add/Remove.
The pen pointer changes between X and / when I'm at a point nearby, a little further is no problem, but I want to be able to start a new path where I want to start.
With or without shift etc. filtration continues by clicking on "new". What I am doing wrong?

    Version?

At least through CS3, the pref to remove auto does not affect auto-join infuriating behavior of the Pen, which is what it looks like you're maybe strugging with.

There is an incredibly clumsy substitution for that, too:

Suppose you want to start a new path where a not selected (sheesh! Which is brilliant the idea was that a pen should DESELECTED path editing?) existing path begins or ends. MouseDown beyond a distance of magnetism where you want than to be; Press and hold the SPACEBAR while you drag to the location where you point it to be; then mouseup. The resulting will be the beginning of a new path, instead of auto - join the pre-existing not selected path.

I don't know if this hellish behavior has finally fixed in CS4, or if a toggle preferably was provided, but I seriously doubt.

  • function tool pen

    Hey all!

Ive had a question about the pen tool!

notice of ive in illustrator when I use the pen tool, if you click from one point to another and then add a point in the middle of the road, he make a beautiful curve as in photoshop, rather it's a v-shape, where as in ps if you do the same procedure u get a beautiful semi circle shape.is because of the difference between vector and bitmap , or adobe wanted a slightly different function programs?

    Best regards.

As far as I know, the pen tool functions simply differently in the two programs.

Try practicing a lot with the pen tool in Illustrator, I found easier to then use the pen in Photoshop, rather than the other way around round.

Also, after looking at your picture attached, I can tell you that the next step in Illustrator to make it look like your image from Photoshop is to press "Shift + C" to get the adjuster to anchor or something and it allows to make and adjust this intermediate anchor in the illustrator image. In this way, you can do the curved line as the line of photoshop.

    Hope that helps!

  • How to draw parallel curved lines in Illustrator?

    brand.gif

I am completely new to Illustrator. I looked at a few tutorials about it.

I want to create a bunch of parallel curved line in illustrator as circled above, however, it is quite confusing because how do.

Can someone guide me step by step?

In fact the part circle of your example is just a unique, path path, so we really don't know what you want in terms of "parallel curve."

In any case, a specific way to get parallel lines of any kind is using delay of path.

Also use the pen to draw a path:

With she is selected, choose object > path > offset path.

Enter a positive value. Note that when you use the offset path on a path (as opposed to a closed shape), the offset goes 2 ways.

Use the direct selection (white arrow) to select the unwanted bits and remove them:

Leaving just the original path and its new parallel path:

  • Dynamic tool pen

I use an iMac, mid 2011, worm 10.11.6 and PS CC, worm 2015.5.0.  I use the tool pen to make a path.  When I place a point and move them the tool to place another point, there is a line (path) which is connected to the first point of the tool pen, as I have the pen tool.  When I look at a tutorial of the pen tool there no line of the first point of the pen tool until you click to place the second point in position.  What causes this difference in the way the pen tool performs? A preference?  Can I change any setting that will allow my work of the tool pen as the tutorials?

    Thanks for your help?

Looks like you have elastic checked in the options of the tool to the pen tool.

    If so, uncheck the elastic

  • Where is the tool pen?

It is a very simple question that I can't understand, and this may sound stupid. Where is the tool pen? I'm pretty new to sequels, I used CS6 for a long time but now in DC, I can't find the pen tool, it used to be in a bar on the top and now it is not there. I feel very stupid, and there is probably a very simple answer. I want to make a mask. IM on mac using Adobe after effects 2015.

the first thing I teach my students is "reset workspace. When you start with the software and it has so many shortcuts you'll ruin things. probably, you don't see the tools Panel. Windows-> work-> reset standard space.

and if you want, you can use the shortcut 'G '.

    see if it's ok now

  • How do I move the two forms at the same time using the tool pen

Screen Shot 2016-05-17 at 12.03.13 PM.pngI tried merging groups 1 2 and 3, so they can be handled together. I've grouped them and they merged, but when I try and move with the pen tool they move separately. For my project, I need to be able to change the shape of 12 and 3 using the pen tool, how would I go to do this?

they set out like a vector Illustrator diagram, I've merged them there and imported, but they always move separately.

    Thanks in advance

If you work with multiple masters and the tool pen, you use the Ctrl/Cmnd key to change the pen of a selection tool that resembles a small white inverted V. You can drag a selection around multiple points on a path and then hold down the SHIFT key and select more points on a different path. Once selected you release the Ctrl/Cmnd key and when you go near a selected vertex selection tool appears again, but this time it is a small black reverse V. and drag.

If you want to transform these points then all you have to do is press Ctrl/Cmnd + t when they are selected and you will actually have a better tool paths of transformation you get in Illustrator.

He is essentially on the functioning of the tool pen in Illustrator if you select the direct selection in artificial intelligence (the key) and then the pen tool (p key) and use the Alt/Option key to switch to the top to convert or Ctrl/Cmnd to direct selection points.

BASIC Edition of masks stuff covered in the help files and explained in community resources, if you enter editing masks or change forms or the pen tool in the search help field at the top right of the AE.

If you are using multiple forms on a single shape layer, you can do the same by providing that the forms are curves of Bézier or Rotobezier.

If the paths of the form or masks are on separate layers, you are out of luck. There is no way to change the multiple paths on different layers at the same time. I don't expect that there is a way to do it. Here's a short demo:
