Questions zu cloned VMs

Hallo,

I hope someone can help yesterday.

Gruss,

Neon

P. S.

  • After cloning question: I cloned my hard drive storage to a bigger successfully, but now how I reconnect the old hdd?

I want to reformat the old hdd but I fear now reconnect as my cpu works fine.  I don't want to confuse Windows by the connected disk mirror.  I searched through the forums and can't find anything in this regard. I continue to find issues with cloning, which I don't have and I don't want to create everything by making a simple mistake by being impatient and do not ask for help first.

Here's where I am. I have a 120 GB SSD SanDisk with my OS (8 64-bit Windows) and now a HGST 7200 RPM 4 TB HDD 6 GB/s 64 mb cache (the successful clone!) disk storage of data, games, photos, videos, etc.. The HGST replaces what I want the reconnection that is my old Samsung 1 TB 7200 RPM 32 MB cache as an internal backup storage drive but I don't know if it Plug and boot in windows are correct and I can just reformat from there, or if there is something I do with Acronis (software used for cloning) via cd , or if I have to go into bios before reconnecting and do a few manual adjustments it first (if any what should I do?), or any other possibility, I just didn't think. Any comments would be much appreciated!

I think maybe is there a way to connect it to my laptop first, then reformat. that would work of course but there must be a simpler solution and I don't want to be impatient, just try to reconnect to the motherboard via sata and discover I have created a problem to have two readers E suddenly or some other "witch hunt" question post cloning.

To summarize: I have already cloned successfully, do not look NOT of advice on that. I worry just reconnect my old drive and which "traps", I can avoid this case and how!

    Thank you

    Hello

If the player does not have a top OS, just hang up... should be no problem.

Even if the drive has the same name, no problem, because windows will just assign a different drive letter. It can replace the 4 to to something else or it could change the 1 to letter...

Not much. Once your kicked in windows, you can go to disk management and assign any drive you want for both drives letters... Right-click on COMPUTER and select MANAGE

Or... just delete the partitions and reformat it, especially since you saved...

Acronis image will do this I think. I'm sure you could use their Disk Director.

I use both, but I don't remember with certainty if image will be Format\Delete...

There are free bootable programs who will do well. Like EASEUS, Aomei and Parted Magic...

You can either format in advance, or start in windows, do a right click on COMPUTER and select MANAGE, disk management. At this stage you will be responsible to initialize the disk

(select MBR or GPT), and then will come the screen for formatting

  • Question of cloning for SSD upgrade on 12 Macbook Pro

Previously, I did an upgrade to SSD on my Macbook Air to 2012 according to the instructions of JetDrive transcend. Basically connection via USB 3 and using Mac OS X to clear (and format) disc utilities new SSD, then restore again SSD and then remove the original 128 GB SSD and insert the new 480 GB SSD.  For about a month and so far without problem.

Now I'm trying to 2012 Macbook upgrade my Pro partner (on 10.11.6).  I got a Crucial SSD MX300 to replace his HARD drive.  Crucial comes with (or recommend) Acronis software.  And a lot of the messages of the forum recommend Carbon Copy Clone.

My question is if I can use the same method for the cloning of the HD as my Macbook Air (just restore disk of Mac OS X utilities)?  This time, I'm upgrading HARD drive and I don't know if something is different.  At the same time, if I got lucky the first time, I don't not ruin Macbook Pro my spouse this time.

    Thank you.

Yes, you can use disk utility to clone your MBP wives, but unlike CCC, it will not clone the recovery and Partition.

  • Workstation 10 - replicated in cloned VMs IP addresses

    Hi all

I have problems with the use in bridge network on Workstation10. I installed a VM (by implementing Bridged networking) with ESXi 5.5 inside the workstation. It came with success and the virtual machine got the IP address. I, then, is a clone of the virtual and powered machine on the real comments and the clone and the cloned VM got the same IP address as the parent VM (it was a full clone).

Can someone please help me this cela?

  • EBS 12.1.3: a few questions about cloning

    Hello

We have EBS 12.1.3 on AIX 7.1.

A few questions about the cloning of level shared environment of application layer non-shared application environment. We followed 'Cloning Oracle Applications V12 with rapid Clone [ID 406982.1]'

    Environment (shared application layer) source:
-Two nodes in the active application and LBS
-A database of active and a passive database configuration with Oracle Data Guard.
-Terminate SSL at the load balancer
    -Updated CFP implementation

Environment target (level app not shared):
-A single node of the application active
    -One data node active
    -Without SSL
    -No PCP

After the cloning was completed, we noticed the following problems in the target system:

    (1) home page is not available because application $CONTEXT_FILE layer always contains the endpoint "https" and ssl settings.

    Workaround solution:

Change (with text editor) layer Application $CONTEXT_FILE as follows.
    < webentryurlprotocol oa_var = "s_webentryurlprotocol" custom = "yes" > http < / webentryurlprotocol >
    < sslterminator oa_var = "s_enable_sslterminator" > # < / sslterminator >
    < login_page = "s_login_page" custom = 'yes' oa_var > http://myhost.mydomain.com:8000/OA_HTML/AppsLogin < / login_page >
    < externURL oa_var = "s_external_url" custom = "yes" > http://myhost.mydomain.com:8000 < / externURL >

Run the automatic configuration service and application layer.

Is there a better solution and supported for this?

    (2) simultaneous managers do not work properly, because they still have old names of node (used in the CFP in the source system). The solution is used:

    1. connect to the EBS GUI web and delete all nodes of all concurrent managers.
2 shutdown application layer. Check that all concurrent managers have been extinguished. If not, kill the process manually
    3. as a user apps run cmclean.sql
    4 restart the application layer

Is there a better solution for this?

    (3) database ARCHIVELOG mode nonarchivelog mode changes in the target system. Is anyway to prevent this?

    (4) in addition, we would like to make a full clone (app + db levels) of production without closing the application. Is this possible? What would be the best documents to describe it? In Production, we have Oracle Data Guard physical standby installation as per "Note technique Oracle: Business Continuity for Oracle E-Business release 12 Using Oracle 11g Physical Standby Database [1070033.1 ID]. This can be used when executing a clone of warm for the database, right? What application layer? The steps in 406982.1 include AutoConfig in what application level should be running down. Must the application be broken when running "to maintain the Snapshot information?"

    (5) one last question (not related to cloning). Oracle Enterprise Manager console webUI has recently stopped working in IE8. For example, https://myhost.mydomain.com:5501 / em gives "cannot display the Page. It was working properly last week. In Firefox, the same link works fine. Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Thanks for your replies in advance.

No, you must modify the context manually and run the automatic configuration.

You follow the best approach. You could update the details of the server node if you wish.

    (3) database ARCHIVELOG mode nonarchivelog mode changes in the target system. Is anyway to prevent this?

By default, the quick Clone will create the target in noarchivelog mode database.

    Fix.

What application layer? The steps in 406982.1 include AutoConfig in what application level should be running down. Must the application be broken when running "to maintain the Snapshot information?"

You can copy the files from the application tier node, while demand is rising. And, there is no need to stop the application to run "to maintain the Snapshot information."

    (5) one last question (not related to cloning). Oracle Enterprise Manager console webUI has recently stopped working in IE8. If it works from a browser, then it should not be a problem of EM. Have you tried another client and see if it works? Have you changed a setting in your Internet Explorer browser? Please make sure you add the URL of the EM to the list of trusted sites.

  • Simple Question on cloning!

    Hi all

I'm here for advice on the effect of cloning. Now, I have sought and obtained a general perspective on the use of this effect with or without a green screen but not the details. I don't speak technical advice step by step, but I still have to find an instructional video on how this effect (http://tinyurl.com/hd72hmf) can be done. If anyone can explain how its done in 5 lines or less, I think I can figure out the rest on my own.

    Thank you!

Motion control camera so that the camera move exactly the same each time, carefully positioned actor, on reading set to match the audio and masking. That's all there is to it. It's a few layers.

For do it yourself using a locked off camera. If you plan to have camera movements, you get very good follow-up and timewarp to get things to line up.

  • Transparency, question of cloning.

I'm trying to clone the few words on a semi-transparent .png image. To be more precise, the words are 100% opaque white on a background of gray semi transparent. When I use the tool clone (opacity 100, hardness 100) and try to clone the semi-transparent background on white inscriptions, the cloned background seems to be more opaque and the words are slightly showing through. If I once or twice on a single word (like I did with the "NAVIGATION TIPS") that I managed to hide the word completely, but gray seems even more opaque.

    Here's the original image:

    img_help_en.png

And here's what I'm trying to do:

    img_help_en modified.png

    I would like suggestions.

Okay, thanks, it's easier to see now.  The image is partially transparent, because you have loaded from a PNG file - probably a web graph.

Your most direct approach would be to separate the transparent pixels using the layer mask to the function of transparency.  Then, you will be able to manipulate the pixels without affecting the partial transparency.

  • Another question from cloning of HD

I searched through the forum to see some posts on this topic. But, most covered with XP and Vista and I'm under win 7 64 bit. I just installed a 2nd HDD and it works use very well, but I would like to make my primary HD. So I want to clone my boot drive on my 750 GB hard drive. I would like to get a picture with all the features and walls. I would like some suggestions on how to do it. I prefer to just do a drive image to drive but it seems that this will not work.

Suggestions please. I am aware that I could use just recovery disks try to avoid this.

    Thank you.

The last time I did this kind of thing, I wanted to keep my original drive, exactly as it was. My thought was that I could just replace and start over. The most important thing for me was to avoid any chance of a disaster. I had an external location (USB hard drive or network share) where I took normal backups. I used Acronis (my normal backup program) to take a full backup on the external device. Then, I removed the original drive and put it in a drawer. If things went wrong, I'd put the original back and be where I started. Then, I installed my new drive and initialized using an Acronis restore CD so I can do the kind of restaurant I would do if I had to recover from a disk crash. I did a cover on the new diskette keeping the exact geometry of the original, to limit the possibilities of the tool of screwing around with the master boot record and leaving a mess. I started the new drive and made sure everything was there and functional. At that point, I had a big unallocated space at the end of the disc. I then ran a partitioning tool (I use Paragon Partition Manager) to resize partitions of what I wanted. All the time, I had the original disc course.

  • Problems with MAC WET11 cloning features

    Hello

I'm having a devil of a time to set up my v2 WET11 to allow my XBOX be fully connected. I can configure and connect the bridge, ping, ftp files to XBOX etc. Only problem is when I try to play bound. I can see the game in progress on the second XBOX but cannot participate. Related game works perfectly when Xbox is wired to the router.  I know that play bound depends on each game console broadcasting their MAC, so I need to clone the MAC address of the XBOX to use the bridge.

Unfortunately the WET11 web configuration interface I cannot do. Under Settings/Advanced cloning Mode, all controls are disabled - greyed. This includes the control that allows you to turn on cloning.  I took a shot the script behind the page and it seems that it checks to see if 'disable cloning' is selected and if so, disables all controls of cloning, including one that would allow me to get back on. Since the default value is disabled, it is the programmatic equivalent to lock the keys in the car. You can take a look at here emulated interface:

    http://UI.Linksys.com/files/WET11/v2/advanced.html

Of course, the demo is fully functional and do not exhibit the problem...

Many people have described solve their XBOX related play questions by cloning the MAC address of the XBOX and see change settings using the web interface.

I tried different versions of the firmware 2.06 and 2.07, 2.08 USA 2.08 EU. Same results. Tried the Installer Wizard 1.06 worm, but he does not even include the MAC settings.

Had two cats different with online support agents and the two seem as puzzled as I am.

Am I missing something obvious? Depends on the availability of cloning parameters options elsewhere in the config utility?  Is the interface designed for cloning taking place without intervention of the user on the v2 and v1? (doubt)

    Has anyone else seen elsewhere?

I know that people have written code to pull the strings of parameters off the unit then maybe the reverse is true and I can write the script to directly change the settings.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Rick

Well well well - apparently the firmware is not totally compatible with IE7. Downloaded Firefox and the interface works as advertised.

  • Cloning VMachine (II)

Just a quick question on cloning of virtual machines in ESXI.

    1. How do I go about cloning a virtual machine already in Esxi - (I read is just to copy and create a new folder in the database right?)

    2. when I clone a virtual machine already in to a domian - if I change the name of the clone, this becomes the new computer name for the virtual machine? I have to join it to the domain?

I mean, that is, computer A is comptera.test.com (it's in ESXI)

During cloning, if I change the name of Commini. The computer name will automatically change to Commini.test.com?

    Thank you very much

(Incidentally I don't seem to have the Manager of customization available on my client vsphere - mayb that the role is not enabled for me)

I think that you have connected to the ESXi host directly and not vCenter.

I want to emphasize that to perform cloning, you must connect to the ESXi and vCenter.

Check Clone a VM in the vSphere Client for the steps to perform the cloning and it will work thorugh to create comments customization

  • Live cloning of virtual machines to ESXi ESXi

    Hello!

We received a request for a project of construction of a recovery after disaster for their ESXi host. They have a robust with local disks server and another identical that they want to use for this purpose.

So what they want is direct cloning VMs from Server A to Server B, so if the server goes down, virtual machines can be started from Server B and times of work.

They do not have a SAN/NAS solution that we could use to share images.

So does anyone know if it is possible to create a vcli script or a direct clone virtual machines from the hard drive of the server A to Server B's hard drive so that they would work from Server B.

    Best regards, city

    Salvation city,

    Welcome to the forums.

If your hosts are connected to a vCenter, you can script or plan an operation clone from one host to another. Without vCenter, it's more complicated... You can try the script of a VMware Converter operation or the export of the FVO. There is also the old backup / restore solution.

    Good luck.

  • Cloning of Windows Server 2008 R2 / SID options with VMWare

    Hi all

I'm trying to deploy virtual machines to a basic model of Windows 2008 R2 Standard (64-bit) and I was wondering what is the best way to give my unique msn cloned VMS?

Basically, I see that NewSID does not work on R2. I tried to run sysprep - & gt; Generalize about the clones of R2 (area experience off), but after restarting the virtual machine must be re-activated (enter the product key and activate again). In addition, VMWare tools no longer - I found that I have to uninstall and reinstall to get it working again, so the console mouse sensitivity goes down the drain. My screen resolution is also indented by default in the virtual machine and anything on the desktop is erased.

Running sysprep like this just doesn't seem to be an option, because there is too much of what needs to be sorted again once the clone is done. I might as well be reinstalling the OS on a fresh virtual machine. Is that all I'm missing with sysprep? Sort of leave him alone he put the SID and nothing else?

It would also be interesting to know what the guys who run Windows 2008 R2 64-bit with VMWare use (VI / ESX 3.5) when it comes to cloning or to deploy multiple virtual machines from a template.

For example, I just want to be able to clone my base model and get a new SID on each clone that I do. So I want to have another model that has a few additional features or roles installed in Windows and be able to clone from that too. For example, a model of Terminal Server.

    See you soon!

However, I doubt management will believe that article directly at the exit (even if its written by Mark himself)-this process of newSID'ing is as far as I can see in their heads. May take a while to convince them otherwise.

If this information on the website of Russinovich doesn't convince them of the contrary, it will be interesting.

As far as I can tell from this article, as long as I clone models VM that are already part of a domain, I should be fine. In other words if I have a model pre-configured, but are not part of a domain (that is always in a working group) I should be fine if I had to clone 10 of them and put them all on the same network right? From there, I could then take one of these 10 clones, convert to a domain controller, and then take the remaining 9 and add them to this new domain members and all servers should be good - no conflicts or funny happens things of the AD?

Yes, let the models out of the area and let the sysprep/customization to join them upward when it is deployed.  As long you run sysprep, or through customization, or manually, there should be no problem in AD.

I guess I always look for an alternative to newsid just to adapt to this as 'political', said at this stage. How you guys don't deploy R2 2008, VMs of clones?

None of my clients went to U1 or U5 at the moment, there is no R2 2008 deployment in place.  I'm guessing that a manual running sysprep deployed virtual machine might be the best thing to do at this point.

    Hello..

I can clone EBS 11.5.10.2 Linux (RHEL 4) for Linux (RHEL5). Source and target texts are 32-bit.

The database is 10.2.0.4 that running 64-bit Linux RHEL4. The target DB server is RHEL 5 64-bit.

If so, can someone tell me what are the possible things that should be checked and validated before cloning. Some documents of metalink referring a similar requirement would be great.

It may be a stupid question, but you have not explicitly stated this: is the snapshot of parent for virtual machines already joined to the domain? It is a difference that often gets overlooked for linked clone pools during their implementation for the first time. For more details, please see the Guide to Administration of View Manager 3.1.
