After cloning question: I cloned my hard drive storage to a bigger successfully, but now how I reconnect the old hdd?

I want to reformat the old hdd but I fear now reconnect as my cpu works fine.  I don't want to confuse Windows by the connected disk mirror.  I searched through the forums and can't find anything in this regard. I continue to find issues with cloning, which I don't have and I don't want to create everything by making a simple mistake by being impatient and do not ask for help first.

Here's where I am. I have a 120 GB SSD SanDisk with my OS (8 64-bit Windows) and now a HGST 7200 RPM 4 TB HDD 6 GB/s 64 mb cache (the successful clone!) disk storage of data, games, photos, videos, etc.. The HGST replaces what I want the reconnection that is my old Samsung 1 TB 7200 RPM 32 MB cache as an internal backup storage drive but I don't know if it Plug and boot in windows are correct and I can just reformat from there, or if there is something I do with Acronis (software used for cloning) via cd , or if I have to go into bios before reconnecting and do a few manual adjustments it first (if any what should I do?), or any other possibility, I just didn't think. Any comments would be much appreciated!

I think maybe is there a way to connect it to my laptop first, then reformat. that would work of course but there must be a simpler solution and I don't want to be impatient, just try to reconnect to the motherboard via sata and discover I have created a problem to have two readers E suddenly or some other "witch hunt" question post cloning.

To summarize: I have already cloned successfully, do not look NOT of advice on that. I worry just reconnect my old drive and which "traps", I can avoid this case and how!

Thank you

Hello

If the player does not have a top OS, just hang up... should be no problem.

Even if the drive has the same name, no problem, because windows will just assign a different drive letter. It can replace the 4 to to something else or it could change the 1 to letter...

Not much. Once your kicked in windows, you can go to disk management and assign any drive you want for both drives letters... Right-click on COMPUTER and select MANAGE

Or... just delete the partitions and reformat it, especially since you saved...

Acronis image will do this I think. I'm sure you could use their Disk Director.

I use both, but I don't remember with certainty if image will be Format\Delete...

There are free bootable programs who will do well. Like EASEUS, Aomei and Parted Magic...

You can either format in advance, or start in windows, do a right click on COMPUTER and select MANAGE, disk management. At this stage you will be responsible to initialize the disk

(select MBR or GPT), and then will come the screen for formatting

  • Services Windows problems after cloning a HARD drive

    Hello

I recently cloned my HARD for one SSD drive, using the SSD as my boot device. Since then, I was able to successfully access Windows services.

For example, I've tried to expand a partition on my SSD and went to computer management. I got a message saying that it

"cannot open log events on the computer service.

I click OK and the computer management opens.

Clicking on device management, I get a long enough message that appears that says

'Disk management could not open Virtual Disk Service (VDS) [name of the hard drive]. This can occur if the remote computer does not support VDS, or if a connection cannot be established because it has been blocked by a firewall of Windows. For more information see on diagnose and correct this problem, see Troubleshooting Disk Management by using disk management. »

I click OK and the message disappears.

If I click on Services and Applications in the left pane I get WMI control and Services in the central pane.

I double-click on Services, scroll down to virtual disk, double-click anywhere on the line, I get

"Windows could not open the service of virtual disk for playback on the local computer. Error 1726 the remote procedure call failed. »

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening? What have I done? Why am I not able to access disk management?

I tried sfc/scannow and I get the message

"Protection of resources Windows could not start repair service".

    EEK! What have I done?

Thanks for the help, but I thought about it.

I had turned off by mistake in my BIOS PATA, and causing the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, however. It's very appreciated.

  • HP Envy Touchsmart j122TX 15: cloning of HARD drive for an SSD and installation on HP Envy Touchsmart 15 j122TX

I will replace an old 1 TB HHD by a new 1 TB SSD Samsung 850 EVO on my HP Envy 15 Touchsmart j122TX. I also have Acronis True Image 2015. How can I go on cloning of the HDD to the SSD and installing the SSD on my HP, implementation of the operating system in order to ensure a good performance? Please give me step by step instructions I'm inexperienced. Thank you for your support.

You need a bootable media because you cannot clone Windows player while it is in use. If you start another source (bootable support) leaving the main hard drive passive and quiet, so it can be copied sector to the new clean disk. I explained you start from the Acronis Disk and when the interface is in place you select "utility" and one of them is 'clone disk '. This is how you use the bootable disc in the cloning process.

As with the post before me you simply remove the MSSD. However, in this case the user would do a clean install. Cloning will be hover over the driver of storage for the SSD controller and will not have to load the RAID driver separately. The way you do it is much easier.  I would like to dissociate the WSSD since the main hard drive using Intel Rapid Storage (disable acceleration), remove the WSSD and start-up of the former hard drive without the WSSD in place one or two times before cloning.

  • Portege S100 - upgrade after cloning BSOD & HARD disk

    Hi all

I wonder if anyone can help me please. I have a laptop Portege S100 with a standard 80 GB drive. I want to upgrade to a 200 GB drive.
    Here's what I did.

I ran Acronis to save an image of the 80 GB HARD drive. All backed by an external USB disk and checked. I inverted the readers and restored the image on the 200 GB drive. All restored and verified.

I restart the PC with the new hard drive in place. "Windows XP" logo comes up, then aarrgh blue screen. Stop x7B.
Swapped the old disk, system boots fine.
Check in the BIOS, with the old hard drive in place that the RAID configuration is enabled by default

New swap disk, JBOD configuration is enabled in the BIOS. Could this be why it is not booting? If I want to activate the RAID configuration, it is ok, but I'm told that it will wipe the hard drive!

I have no qualms about wiping the new hard drive, but it will work? If I change the RAID configuration, then restore the image? The only reason why I have not done it so far is because it took some time to create the image, and then writing it back on the new disk and at that time there the owner of the laptop is needed it back. !

    Help appreciated!
    Thank you very much
    Alex

    Hello!

Can you post the BSOD detailed please?

I'm a little confused on RAID m parameters are you wrote. As I know the Portege S100 can handle only a single HARD disk.
In addition, you must use the same settings as with the old HDD RAID.

Maybe the SATA controller has a limitation of LBA 28 bit and can't handle a 200 GB HARD drive. In this case, the larger HARD drive should have 120 GB. Here you can learn more about the limitation:
    http://www.48bitlba.com

Last but not least, you can see the new HARD drive for errors. Maybe it s faulty. For this, you can use the Drive Fitness Test:

Sorry, but for the moment I put t have more ideas.

    Monastir,

What happens when it stops it is have a Sata driver. It is on the drivers cd you received with your computer. You can also start the computer and press F2 to enter the bios. From there down to Configuration system - SATA Operation and change this to ATA. It is located to AHCI. Save the changes and restart the installation. Once you have loaded Windows and drivers installed, you will need to go back to AHCI.

Am trying to re - install Acrobat 9 Pro (includes the Distiller) after installing a new hard drive. iMac 27 "2009, ElCapitan 11.11.6. I have the original dmg file. have also tried copying from back up. Same thing is happening anyway. It seems to load correctly. When open it asks my password but not to its own serial number. It is open, but don't watch not at the full bar at the top, that the word Acrobat, and it does nothing? Worked very well before the old drive crashing. On the same operating system?

Not compatible does not mean that it cannot work (even if sometimes this does not mean that). This means that it has never been tested and not be fixed; This often means people have seen strange and unpredictable issues.

Acrobat makes changes to the system, it is always more vulnerable. DC Acribat is the current version. If the goal is to slow down completely, perhaps more profitable subscription activity.

  • I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now want to import some RAF b HD files

I use LR 6.5 on an iMAC. Files RAF Fuji originally, I imported from an SD card worked and exported in the form of PSD and then after saving the files on an external hard drive RAF erased from Lightroom. I now have to import some RAF of the HD files but LR shows them as dazed out and said that they have already been imported when I hover over the thumbnail. I have this problem when importing files in the same HD Canon CR2, and who have been treated exactly the same. Anyone got a clue as to why this is happening? Thanks, Phil

    Hi Phil,

If Lightroom then reads these as duplicate files, it shows that they are already present in your Lightroom Catalog.

You can search by file name and check if the image is present in your library.

    Kind regards

  • Level question on my laptop hard drives.

    Hello

I have 2 hard drives of pre - counter on my laptop.

They are exactly this article: http://www.keenzo.com/showproduct.asp?ID=3288986

I would like to know if there is a problem to be replaced by 2 more high speed drives (7200 RPM).

And what else should I notice for compatibility for my laptop.

For example, could switch to this http://www.keenzo.com/showproduct.asp?ID=3588508 drive

I can see there a slight difference in the physical dimensions, but what worries me the most is the difference in the field 'shape factor' which should "Plug-in module" instead of "internal hot."

    Thank you in advance.

You can use this player. I think the dimensions are a mistake. The dimension that you have to be careful about is (should be 2.5 ") width and height (9.5 mm)... all laptop SATA disks except the news versions 1 to meet these dimensions (they are thicker than 12 mm approximately). Portable hard drives are intended to be and are generic, interchangeable, standard of the industry. As long as it's a SATA drive with the dimensions above above, you should be fine. Understrand to strip the caddy off the coast of the old disk before replacing with the new bare drive. Generally, you remove 4 screws in the corners of the car and then a connector any covering the SATA interface (on some models not all).

  • HP Envy 860-008na: HARD DRIVE C: no space (main road), but my D: has 1.81 TB?

Just brought my new PC and was struggling in the game with peaks of lag.

But after restoreign to factory settings, I noticed that my C: drive has only 117 GB? Where that my D: drive (reprise?) was 1.81... TB!

C: drive is supposed to be the essential motivation for computer? The PC is new not edited or modified... Ask yourself why this fault/problem and how to fix it.

Here's a photo of basic while I was looking at why I had no space in C: drive and the delay of the spikes.

As I was obliged to put games on my D: drive due to lack of space on my C: drive, it could cause a problem with lag spikes that occur?

Cheers, need an answer as soon as POSSIBLE

    Hello

I'm not a gamer but know game files are large and have to move a lot of graphic data and CPU to run correctly.

Your new PC comes with a small 128 GB SSD (fast) and a slow 5400 RPM 2 TB HDD.

So you have an inherent bottleneck of design. Games must be installed on the HARD drive slow or you quickly run out of room.

The only solution I can see (there may be others) would buy a lot more SSD for the OS volume (C.) Install games on C:, instead of D:. That would eliminate the bottleneck of the data transfer.

HP Recovery partition and recovery disks/USB can be finicky. You may be tempted to replace the slow HDD with a SSD. It would work, but you may need to buy a 2 TB or SSD of greater. The recovery discs or a USB recovery drive will be used (did you create a set of recovery discs?) to install on the new disk configuration and can choke if the replacement of SSD HARD drive does not match the 2 TB HDD. Increasing the primary disk larger than 128 GB should not adversely impact factory reinstall HP using HP recovery discs or a USB recovery drive...
