Hi guys, I am trying to install a new card Lacie esata PCI card (http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=11217) on windows server 2003 on Dell poweredge T410. Windows detects the card and install the driver, but then, it shows an error code 10 "device Can not not started. I tried the update, uninstall, reinstall, adding Lacie driver CD through the "Hardware Wizard', chaning PCI card slot by 4 to 1. But nothing has worked. So please let me know if you think that there is a fix for this solution. Thank you

  • Configuration of memory PowerEdge T410

    Hi all

Let me start by saying our current configuration of memory (Dell PowerEdge T410):

We have only one processor installed, so we have 4 DIMM for use A1 - A4. Only 3 are currently installed like:

    A3: 4GB 2Rx8 1333

    A2: 4GB 2Rx8 1333

    A1: 4GB 2Rx8 1333

    A4: white

in its current wording, our server (running sbs2011) is extremely slow, and we traced it to the use of the RAM. That being said, I went to the store in line of Dell and bought 2 8 GB 4Rx8 1066 RAM sticks to use on the server. I thought I'd take a module of 4 GB, so I then total 24GB (2 GB + 2 8 GB 4).

Read the manual material, I see that mix 2rx8 and 4rx8 is supported as long as the 4rx8 is in the white slot (first location of the channel). I also see that mixture of capacities of ram is supported as long as each channel has a similar configuration. I assumed that this means that each channel had the same capacity. So I thought 8 GB in every channel:

    A3: 8 GB (channel 2)

    A2: 8 GB (channel 1)

    A1: 4 GB (channel 0)

    A4: 4GB (channel 0)

I placed the DIMMs in this thought of configuration I have all together until I started the server and I get an error of the incompatibility of DIMM and the BIOS indicates memory configuration not supported. However, starting the server in windows and it says 24GO and is normally. What Miss me? Should I be worried? How can I fix?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    Hello

It is not optimal because you mix DIMMS in a bank. The system supports memory triple channel. It does this by spreading a Bank of memory on 3 channels. Here is how the banks are set up:

    DIMM 0 - 1,2,3
    DIMM 1-4

For an optimal configuration of the DIMMS in slots 1,2,3 must be identical. In older systems that do not support memory flexible configuration the DIMMS in slots 2.3 would be disabled. Since this system supports flexible memory configurations, it will allow the DIMM to stay, but gives no optimal error.

If you mix memory in this system, you can have 1 Unlike DIMM installed for an optimal configuration. The optimal configuration that uses the maximum memory to the DIMM you have available would be:

    8 GB - 1.2
    4 GB - 4

The best non-optimal configuration would be:

    8 GB - 1.2
    4 GB - 3.4

This configuration will always give you errors, but it is better than the current configuration.

    APITech
I also see that mixture of capacities of ram is supported as long as each channel has a similar configuration.

This does not mean that you must have identical DIMM modules in the channels. It means that channels must be filled even. Here is an example:

    DIMM 0 slots 1,2,3 =
    DIMM 1 slots 4,5,6 =

    Chanel, 0 = 1.4
    Channel 1 = 2.5
    Channel 2 = 3.6

You have DIMMs of different rank, speed and capacity mixed through the channels, but you can't have different configurations. For example, in this configuration if you filled DIMM slots 1,2 and then the configuration is valid for DIMM 1 would be filling in only one MEMORY card into the Groove 4 (if the system did not require DIMM be installed in pairs) or 2 DIMMS in slots 4.5. You can't fill a DIMM in the slot 6 since the first slot (3) in the channel (2) is not met.

The population of channel rule means essentially that you can not complete the second slot in a channel if the first place is not filled. In your housing system 1 and 4 are channel 0. All channels have only a single slot assigned to each memory controller. As long as you have one DIMM in slot 1, you can fill the slot 4.

Memory population rules can be very confusing. If you have any other questions let me know.

    Thank you

  • PowerEdge T410 & Xeon X 5680 compatibility

Anyone know if the PowerEdge T410 with 1.12.0 BIOS is compatible with of Xeon X 5680? The release notes indicate the system is compatible with the 5600 series processors, but I am unable to get the server to actually start with them installed.

    What I tried:

    Reset the BIOS - exclusion-

Reflashed BIOS to 1.12.0 - no - Go-

Removal of all other processors and RAM leaving only bank 1 - No - Go-

Installed one (do not have another) "verified" CPU X 5650 130 w 6-Core-ALL-GOOD.

I now feel that BIOS 1.12.0 is NOT compatible with processors X 5680.

Can someone help and check this for me? My Google-Fu returns no results...

Thanks in advance for your time...

    > Aaron

The fact that the .pdf you linked to is buried several layers on the Dell site solidifies only my argument that it shouldn't take this much effort to find valid information such as those.

In addition, the 1.12.0 BIOS update simply indicates further support for processors 5600 'COLLECTION '. The specsheet.pdf for the server indicates 5600 'SERIES' both of which are easier to find than the .pdf that you linked to (i.e. Google Poweredge t410)

The technicalguide.pdf you linked to only reinforces my feeling that Dell must be clearer about their documentation. Example 6.1 Overview (table 8) the Poweredge t410 Server supports up to two processors. It then lists 95 Watt and 130 watts. Moreover, it gives reference to a set of processors supported but not going only up to the X 5650. It gives no reference what BIOS version was used during the test, but the stamp on the .pdf indicates July of 2011, but the latest version of BIOS is starting in 2013. I hope that these examples, you'll be able to see that just "assume" things like "good indicators" can trip-up the more experienced Sys Admins.

And FWIW the 5675 X are the fastest processors more high watt TDP that can run in the T410. Thanks for me to understand that...

No response is necessary, because I don't care anymore or I'll read.

  • The maximum dimensions are listed for RAM modules in the absolute QuickSpes?

I get around 8000 elite at very good price. I want to use for training at home, running App-V in Windows Server. The quickspecs say the maximum size RAM module for this computer is 4 GB. Is it absolute or 8 GB user modules that I can?

    Hello:

The maximum size memory module that can be installed in every dwelling is 4 GB.

The first PC to elite 8xxx that could take a module memory 8 GB is the 8200 elite.

I know because I have both an Elite 8000 and a 8200 Elite with the memory maxed out at 16 and 32 GB respectively.

  • Supported Memory Configurations (PC3L) low voltage for PowerEdge T410

I note that, when using the first DIMM per channel (i.e. 3 of the 4 memory by processor slots) with PC3L memory, it works at 1.35v, as it should.

When I add a strip of MEMORY on the fourth slot, memory running at 1.5V, thus neglecting the advantage of low voltage.

T410 technical guide says "When they operate at low voltage, frequency and population additional restrictions can take effect."  Fills all the memory locations, considered a restriction of the population in this context?

Looks like a fairly common thing to do (fill in all of the memory locations)...

    Thank you

    Fganter.

Unfortunately fill three memory modules per channel is not supported 1.35 V. systems with 1.35 V memory will be also exploited the memory modules to 1.5 V if one of the following conditions exist:

    • Intel Xeon processors 5500
    • two modules of 1333 MHz DIMM per channel
    • a mixture of both modules of memory standard and low voltage

Hope this helps to clarify the situation.

  • RAID on PowerEdge T410, restarting

When I performed a clean installation of Windows Server 2008 on our PowerEdge T410, with two 1 TB drives attached as players 0 and 1 on the PERC controller, I didn't know that I needed to configure a RAID volume on the controller on the front side, before loading the operating system.  So I need to start over.  Not much, except that, since we do not have a tape drive, it was a chore to backup all data before the first installation files.  Question: Before the installation of a second, what if I were to add a third hard drive (I have a 250 GB), assign the drive letter 'F', create an NTFS partition and copy all my files of data on it? Then, on the second go-around, I configure the PERC and put up my desired RAID 1 array using the two 1 TB drives. Of course, the discs will be completely erased.  Subsequently, once finished the installation of the OS, the OS will recognize my third hard drive (250 GB), such that I can simply copy the files from it on my mirror RAID?

The answer is 'yes '. The long answer includes things like "make sure that you do not select the wrong drive to install to ' and ' after having installed and copied the data above and remove the 'extra' / 'standalone' disc, Windows peut not boot, so you will need to do a startup repair.

  • Determine the number of the motherboard Dell PowerEdge T410

I work with a server remotely try to determine the number of points for our mother. It's a PowerEdge T410, nothing is coming through system information or serial number. In my view, that there is a certain different models available. Is there anything that can help me refine it? We have tried to add a second processor and discovered that the second take was damaged by the manufacturer.

    Antares-USA,

Normally, when you enter your number at support.Dell.com, you can click on the System Configuration and then see the original setup the server was in when he left. If that does not produce the information, then you must simply PRIVATE MESSAGE the serial number for me and I can let you know the motherboard installed.

  • ESXi and Dell Poweredge T410 install issues...

Hello, we just bought a spanking new beand Dell Poweredge T410 with S300 raid Card... useless day, Esxi 4.0 or 4.1 will not install on it... We get an error message during the installation:

"Could not find a data device to decompress the image for.

This server was prchased Feb 2011... can someone tell me how I can get installed on esxi?

The S300 controller isn't a device supported for ESXi. You must add a supported RAID controller. There are many other RAID controllers available for this server. The Perc 5 and 6 controllers are also good choices and are available on sites like e - bay, etc.
