Random text boxes disappeared

Hello

I have an InDesign document with about 280 pages in it. Text suddenly boxes randomly on the pages disappeared. It's not like the text block is always there either, the whole frame and the text has disappeared.

On the first screengrab you can see how the home page has all of his text, but the next page only has his cap. It's random act that disappears is inserted in the last 40 pages of the document.

What of weird, is that when I try to move the pink image on the page with the text missing the size of changes in direction as a whole. Yet, if I move the image of the light bulb on the page above which has not been affected everything works normally!

What continues? I think its some kind of glitch, he is now deleted in such a way that I was able to manually in the text boxes on more than 30 pages. This document in the direction of my university degree I need solve the problem.

Matt

I was able to take a quick look, and I have good news. I've seen this before, and it is recoverable.

Your text is still there, but there is only one kind of bug which casuses blocks of text to become large and unselectable infinitley using the usual methods. However, if you place a sprad with a problem and issuing the Cmd + a cammonad to select all, then press and hold e eth Shift button and disable everything that you see on the spread, the text block will remain selected. You can then press Cmd-Y to access the history editor, copy the text and close the story editor windows and press BACKSPACE or delete to delte the existing framework. Now draw a new frame where it belongs and paste the text.

The graphic elements that have disappeared can probably also be selected in the same way and should be removed and replaced.

I looked at the file history and noted two things: the file crashed and was recovered on March 25 (probably when the damage began), and you have not updated version 8.0.2 ID. Run the update before you do more work, then try my suggestions on a copy. If successful, export this file to .idml as a "belt and Suspenders" approach to clean, and then save it under a new name (do not overwrite the original file) and continue to work with that one.

  • Text in a text box disappears when you click on outside the text box

I work on a Macbook Pro in 10.7 Lion.  I use Adobe Acrobat X Pro.

I create a text and type the words in the text box.  As soon as I click outside of the text box, the text in the text box disappears.  The text box is still there.  As soon as I click inside the text box text is displayed again.  I confirmed that the text is black.

I've seen several posts on the same problem but none of the solutions I've seen work.

It's so frustrating to think I am giving up Adobe Acrobat X Pro and using a free PDF program using Windows 7 in Parallels on my Macbook for editing.  Given how much cost Acrobat X Pro, I'm pretty fed up with Adobe in general.

I followed a link to a solution for editing the registry in Windows, but I don't know how to do this on a Mac.  In addition, it is simply absurd that Acrobat X Pro is totally useless for a simple PDF document editing.  This is not a form.  It is a PDF document with any of the other fields.  I just want to add text.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, there are a lot of things here. Part of the confusion is the different terms that are used, and where you posted. Although you have confirmed that you do not work on a form, you DID post on the forum of forms, so it is not surprising that you have lots of advice on the forms.

I think I discovered something by looking at your file and experimentation. You add text, probably the only way you've found to this day. It's something rather old and creaky called "typewriter tool", who use not as much today. However, in Acrobat X, it is easy to find under "adding or editing text box. What you add is not like a regular text on the page, it's really a sort of commentary.

There are many more types of comments comment, including much more powerful tools for adding text tab. You may find you prefer these, but let's look at the problem of the typewriter.

Your problem is that your comments are opaque, less than 1%. It is slightly transparent, and so they are invisible. How has it happened? Don't know, but I have a guess. Is not serious, I have a fix. The problem is that this thing of opacity is a real parameter but without tools for setting it. Now it is defined, we must get rid of him somehow.

    1. you say, I think, that you have a computer where all is well. On this computer, do a text box to write. Save the PDF and get to the problem computer.

    2. open the good PDF on the problem computer.

    3. Select the comment Look for the one that you added in the list of comments.

    4. double-click the entry in the list of comments and make sure that it selects the right one. It takes the box of typewriter.

    5. right click on the entry in the list of comments, and choose Properties.

    6. click on "Make default properties", and then click OK.

If all goes well, the right setting (100% opacity) now applies to all mailboxes in the future typewriter.

  • Text box disappears when you use the text tool

I downloaded a model for a leaflet to 3 parts and I create a text box, as soon as I take my finger off the mouse button, the text box disappears.  If I type, the text appears, but it has a colorful background.  If I switch to the selection tool, the text box is once more visible, but as soon as I hit the text tool, the box again is no longer visible.

I guess it may be a setting somewhere in the model (this doesn't happen to me when I'm working on one of my own files) but I can't find the setting that controls this.  Any ideas?

    Thank you

What color is the highlight? Rose, a font missing, green means custom tracking/kerning. These ar the two that you're more likely to see applied to an entire line. Yellow is substituted glyphs (typically ligatures, but it could be all cpas or samll so caps) and colors for the kepps violations there, but I don't know them off the top of my head. All these can be turned on or off in the Composition section of the preferences.

  • text boxes have disappeared

My big document was very well for weeks then (at the end) I opened it and random text boxes were gone on random pages. I saved in the .idml file and reopened in InDesign and as with a different name. Everything was fine, but I want to share what happened.

The layers palette still showed objects on my layer and acted as if selected when you click on the next square in the layer name, but they were not there so "select all" on the page or "show the contours of the block." Everything seemed to be recognized in the layers palette and selected in the layers palette, a small box appeared in the middle of the spread. If I clicked on the box, an icon as he wanted to link or place my text, but he would not. I quickly realized that I had to register under .idml and spend. Not sure if it is worth to find what has become corrupted.

I'll be happy to answer your questions if anyone wants to understand it, but mostly shared with the name of the topic, if someone can find if they need.

Snapshot shows the layers palette with several apparently chosen objects and the corresponding selection (what is real small) in the middle of the spread.

So if the box was clicked on a bounding box error message came up.

In my view, this is a bug in the CC, and you should report it to Adobe - feature request/Bug Report Form

In addition, if you stil with the problem file, save it for presentation to the engineering team (mention that you have the file in your bug report).

  • Help! Outlook is cut my text box.

I have problems with Outlook 2007/2010 cutting random text boxes in my e-mails. Screenshots below.

I tried to copy the email, removing the text box and retype and even to take a screenshot of the text box and inserting an image into the email. He always gets cut in Outlook. The funny is that I had what happens earlier at a different point in the email. So I shortened the length of the email, thinking it was that a bug was the length of the newsletter. Now, this text box is fine and it is broken.

This e-mail is created entirely using e-mail E10 Editor. Any suggestions are appreciated!

    Hello

We had the same problem with one of our emails. This is what the support team advised:

1.) outlook has a very bad way to treat a large number of div / table cells and structure

Therefore, it is best to group as many objects into a textbox.

2.) make sure that all positioning is 'positive' as negative requires a method more "flexible" management HTML that doesn't just have Outlook.

    I hope this helps!

  • Hover over the text box

Is it possible to have a text box appear when you hover your mouse on a specific area of a form?

For example: if I wanted to give a brief description of a group of radio buttons, the user would place their cursor on the Group of radio buttons and a text box appears with the brief description.  The text box disappears when the cursor is moved away.

I don't want it to appear on the screen all the time, nor do I want it to appear when printing... when the user places the cursor over them.

    Thanks in advance

Yes on the accessibility palette there is an option of the ToolTip. Enter the text in the tooltop field and it will be bahave like you ask.

  • The existing letters disappear in pdf when I add the text box

If I get letters in the text disappearing as soon as I type anything in a new text box. I have acrobat pro 8.1 Windows XI.

My pdf document looks very good. All the text is there that's supposed to be here. I have to add areas of text on some pages, so I click "Add text", I click on any area in my document and the text box appears. As soon as I type anything at all "random" letters disappear throughout my document. I say randomly is a l e meantime, etc, but it's the same letters of the words disappear each time. A month ago, I was working on the very document that does exactly the same thing and had no trouble adding text without letters endangered.

I've been playing with it for several hours now and I'm ready to punch a hole in the wall.

    Any ideas?

Thanks for 'all' the help (I'm kidding, of course) but I figured it out on my own.

Tried many, many things and what has worked in the end increased the dpi of the pdf when it was created first. I'd put it at 300 dpi, which was the same default setting for all other documents I created and manipulated without a problem, but for some reason, it does not work now. I tried to 600 dpi and it is fine. All letters remain in place when I add new text boxes. Probably the other ppp settings would also work, but I have not tried.

  • Disappeared from the text box in a submenu (was: problem Adobe Muse)

    Hello world

The text box in a sub menu I created disappeared and don't know how I can return it as its created automatically for the structure of the site.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Ian

Thanks for sharing the file. Seems that the submenu got corrupted somehow.

To force the Muse recreate it, please go to the Menu options and change the type of Menu: 'All the Pages' to 'higher level Pages.

Once the submenus will turn off switch back to "All Pages". This time, you will be able to see the missing submenu.

In this sub menu process will lose the formatting that you would need to do it again.

    Kind regards

    Vivek

  • The text in a text box in InDesign disappears when I resize or move

I have a running footer in a text box on a colored background. I want to push the text up a little so that it is centered in the colored band. But when I do, the text disappears. It is not aligned to the baseline grid and the text wrapping is disabled.

Can anyone help? I use InDesign CS 5.5 on Windows.

If you delete the color box, and then move the text, already done?   I think it may be an object hide it is the origin of the problem.
