    Hello

    I have a database of all the archives are in the disk. I made a backup of an archive with RMAN and I have my backup files. This archive is applied to a standby database that uses ASM and I know what the path inside the ASM where archive must be. I catalogued my backup in my database pending.

    I need the command to restore an archive specific my backup to a specific path of my asm. Can you help me with the command?

    Thank you

    It should work.

    SET ARCHIVELOG DESTINATION TO '+DG1_FRA/ORCL/tmp';
      RESTORE ARCHIVELOG FROM SEQUENCE 1 UNTIL SEQUENCE 100;

    Edit: If you have 11g, you can restore your archivelog destination to archive normal and use the command of cp asmcmd copy it where you want.

    Hello

    Standby database configured with broker and application really remake in time; However, I want to change it to archive the journal apply mode without losing the broker configuration. Is this possible? If it is not possible to use the broker to make archive log apply, I can remove the broker and use Data Guard to set up the day before to use the archive log apply?

    Concerning

    Hello;

    Broker automatically allows real-time applies to databases on hold if the standby database has standby redo logs configured.

    Stop repeat applies

    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'PRIMARY' SET STATE='APPLY-OFF';

    Repeat restart applies broker

  • Restore the newspapers archived on RAC

    3 11.2.0.1 on redhat 5.2 CCR node. Try to restore a newspaper archived with script on a node 1 RMAN session.
    run {
    set archivelog destination to '/u01/flash/tmp/restored_archlog';
    restore archivelog logseq = 1812 until logseq = 1821;
    }
    The script ran OK, but only processed yarn thread #= 1. It does not work for newspapers archived to get the error thread # 2 and 3
    RMAN> restore archivelog logseq = 899;
    RMAN-03002: failure of restore command at 02/07/2012 13:51:26
    RMAN-20242: specification does not match any archived log in the repository
    Guess I could run the RMAN command of other nodes to retrieve those wire # 2 and 3. But is there a more convenient way to restore newspaper archived for all threads from a single RMAN session on onenode?

    Thank you

    In a CCR environment, it doesn't matter on what node you issue the restore command. Each node must have access to each thread archivelog.
    The message you said archivelog with sequence 899 unknown in the repository (controlfile and recovery catalog, if it exists). Maybe it's an old old archivelog starting from the repository?
    The message does NOT say, it is not found in the backup.

  • Archiving and restoration works not-attention

    Hello

    Today, I edited a client page - knowing what I messed up (I did) I was able to restore.

    When I went to a restaurant, the oldest page to restoring it to has been my first edition of this morning. NOT the last working page / published.

    Live Chat with support from the BC explained that this is because all the archive pages are deleted after 90 days. And there is no way to restore the latest version of work.

    Essentially, this denies the entire restoration and Archive feature. Unless you make a change to each page on your site within a period of 90, you lose the last working version.

    WORKAROUND - has your customers save a non-edited version of the page to create an archive of first / original page. This ensures that they have something to return. Explaining that will be great fun also.

    Get your act together BC. This isn't version control.

    Hi Karl,

    You have the data for this reason after 90 days will be removed.  Thus, although unhappy Please note we note this in the section archive / rollback.

    Kind regards

  • Data archival and Resue

    Hello

    I dropped to know some examples of data archiving and more use it once. I've heard of fragmentation, shirnk and other methods but I just wanted to know how to use it
    example is apperciated

    Thank you
    Also in addition to him, you can use partitions to share the table archived with a score of the work table for the archived lines will be logically added to the lines of the work table.

    can u please give a simple example on above statement

    Example for a single table. What you can use as a partition key may depend on your existing data structure and the row of the table. If data allow, that it can be optimized by exchanging the empty partition with an existing table (which is very fast) (not included).

    1. create tablespace ARCHIVE1900 datafile ' / replaceable_disk/data/archive1900.dbf'

    2. create the WORKING_PARTITIONED table (YEAR number / * it will be the partition key * /, OTHER_COL number, YETANOTHER_COL varchar...) partition of range (YEAR)
    (lower ARCHIVE1900 partition (2000) tablespace ARCHIVE1900,)
    lower DATA2000 partition (2010) DATA2000 tablespace.
    partition lower DATA2010 (2020) tablespace DATA2020)

    3 move the data in WORKING_PARTITIONED of WORK. Remove the WORK. Rename WORKING_PARTITIONED to WORK.

    4 archive
    4.1 create tablespace table WORKING_ARCHIVE1900 ARCHIVE1900 select * from WORKING where 1 = 0;
    4.2 change the partition of table WORK Exchange ARCHIVE1900 with table UPDATE GLOBAL INDEXES WORKING_ARCHIVE1900;
    All data from the partition of WORK ARCHIVE1900 is now in the WORKING_ARCHIVE1900 table.
    WORK ARCHIVE1900 partition is empty.
    4.3 change only archive1900 read-only tablespace;
    4.4 alter tablespace ARCHIVE1900 offline;
    4.5 BONE lever unmount or eject a /replaceable_disk

    5 restoration of Archives
    5.1 mounting /replaceable_disk so you have ' / replaceable_disk/data/archive1900.dbf' available
    5.2 alter tablespace ARCHIVE1900 online;
    5.3 modify the partition of table WORK Exchange ARCHIVE1900 with table UPDATE GLOBAL INDEXES WORKING_ARCHIVE1900;
    All the data in the table WORKING_ARCHIVE1900 is now in the partition of WORK ARCHIVE1900. WORKING_ARCHIVE1900 table is empty.

    Enjoy.

    The example is approximate. Here can be syntax errors. then test the approach carefully before implementing it.

  • Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor didn't finish and restore to Windows Vista

    I try to install Windows 7 and started using Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to examine the State of Vista.

    A number of questions appeared so I did the updates or of facilities such as specified. I then re-ran and it shows now no problems.

    The only things without green ticks are the wireless printer which he cannot evaluate but does report does not as a problem.

    The upgrade of Windows runs almost until the end and then fails and rolls back to Vista. When you are finished, he said to use Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor!

    Where should I go now?

    Notes:

    • Collect all the important application discs and discs of hardware driver, you might need to be reinstalled.
    • Consult the manufacturer and the site of developers of software for available updates and inquire about the status of compatibility with Windows 7. It is possible that if the software is compatible with Windows Vista it probably will work with Windows 7, because they share the same driver model.
    • If you use software like iTunes or Adobe programs, don't forget to remove and disable them before you run the installation program.

    Back up your data:

    When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. Windows Vista, depending on the edition you are running includes a form of backup. If you run editions such as Windows Vista Business, Enterprise or Ultimate Edition, you can use the built in backup of the computer of your Vista installation. This can be handy if your installation of Windows 7. For instructions on how to use the backup of the computer, see article following here. Of course, you'll need an external hard drive for this task.

    If you are running editions such as Windows Vista Starter, Home Basic or Home Premium, the only option available to backup the standard backup and restore that archive the records of your account with some settings. If you need a similar to the complete PC backup option, you will need a third party too.

    See the following article from Microsoft MVP JW Stuart on how to make a backup of a Windows here installation using Acronis True Image here

    Alternatively, you can use for backup of Windows Vista is Easeus backup, JW Stuart also has an article about it here

    Other steps that you can use to check your data is secure before the upgrade creates a backup of Windows Easy Transfer. Learn more here , this option is very limited and should be used only if do not plan to return to Windows Vista because the easy transfer of backups can be restored in Windows 7 or Windows 7.

    What you can do before performing the upgrade?

    You can perform certain tasks of pre-required to ensure a migration smoothly between Windows Vista and Windows 8. If you use a computer such as a Dell or HP brand name, go to the website of manufacturers for the model computer you are using and download the latest drivers available for this computer. Store them on a disk or a USB key. You should try to get important factors include network and video drivers. Its possible that they might have only Windows Vista, those that will work with Windows 7.

    Other things you can do:

    1. Uninstall all security software before attempting to upgrade.
    2. Disable any encryption software, that you may have installed such as file encryption, BitLocker Drive encryption.
    3. Disable/uninstall software utility to drive such as CD/DVD burning utility or third-party programs such as perfect disk defragment.
    4. Make sure your computer is updated (devices and applications).
    5. Disconnect external devices before installing.
    6. Check your hard drive for errors:
      -Click Start
      -Type: CMD
      -Right click on CMD, and then click Run as administrator
      At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r
      Exit the command prompt.

    When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.
  • Another thing you can do is to disable startup items:
    • Click Start
    • Type: MSCONFIG.
    • Press enter on your keyboard
    • On the general tab, click Selective startup.
    • Under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    • Click the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    • Click OK.
    • When you are prompted, click on restart.
    • After the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary material. Remove (USB) universal serial bus devices. Remove or disable network cards, sound cards and cards of the series; and then restart the installation.

  • At what stage archivelogs are restored?

    DB version: 11.2.0.4

    OS: RHEL 6.5

    I'm going to run the following command to restore and recover a hot backup. I want to know, at what stage the archivelogs are restored to archive the diskgroup?

    I understand that the RESTORE DATABASE command will only restore the data files. RECOVER DATABASE command will restore the backup archivelogs and apply it, or do I have to explicitly execute an ARCHIVELOG RESTORE order before the RECOVER DATBASE?

    run

    {

    the value of newname for database '+ DATA_DG;

    restore the database;

    switch datafile;

    # RESTORE ARCHIVELOG... ...

    recover the database;

    }

    Another question:

    Before applying the archivelogs, RMAN will restore the archivelogs log_archive_dest_1 location mentioned in the pfile file. Right?

    * .log_archive_dest_1 = "LOCATION = + ARCH_DG'"

    During the recovery stage RMAN should automatically restore the required archiving logs.  You should not do it yourself.

    Newspapers should find your pfile log_archive_dest file.  If it is not set by default is $ORACLE_HOME/dbs.

  • RMAN restore level 0, 1 incremental level and ARCHIVELOGs

    I can't understand it and I read through the documentation and the web.

    On linux 64-bit in 11.2.0.3, I do weekly backups of level 0 and increments of 1 level every night. During the day, I also do ARCHIVELOG backups.

    I know I need to restore the LEVEL 0 database files (which I can do it), then later increments of 1 LEVEL of restoration (which I just can't), then apply ARCHIVELOGs (what I do).

    My problem is HOW to apply files of database LEVEL 1 of the above LEVEL 0 incremental backups restored?

    Thanks in advance!

    default channel: deletion of Journal archives

    And I haven't used the command "recover archivelog deletion of database; I used "recover the database.

    This isn't a problem. At the time of recovery, it is common that you see these messages.

    During restore, RMAN restores the archives at the local site, and finally when the recovery is complete, it deletes the temporarily stored archives.
