Re: Satellite A660-1DW - Caddy for second HD

I would like to swap the DVD drive for a 2nd HD can you please point me in the correct caddy for the Satellite A660-1DW

I found various carts but I'm not sure of the correct version for my laptop, as the model was not mentioned

Thank you

Shaun

Hey,.

I think that the best place to get this a HARD drive caddy is an authorized service provider. The guys are able to order all spare parts Toshiba so they can check what the good caddy, etc.. I think that it s best option for you because so you can be 100% sure you get the right part.

In addition here he s here, only a user to user forum so no one can post the part numbers.

And by the way: list of ASP, you can find here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

Good luck! :)

I ordered an A660-17F of Argos and when it arrived it is an A660 1DW.

To be honest for this basic trick, both models are more than enough.
Compare the specifications of laptop there is no much difference.

I can see by Satellite A660-1DW has a processor more powerful if you obtained for the same price it is OK.
I put t know if it's some sort of error or no, but you perfect portable ACE. Keep it.

  • Satellite A660-1DW - video editing facilities

My 14 year old son wants a Dell Studio 17. Its call for video editing facilities. I wish he had a Toshiba Satellite - possibly the A660-1DW - but I don't know if this device or any other laptop Satellite A has these capabilities and, if so, what they are.

Can someone help / tell me, please?
    Thank you, David

    Hello

I just checked the specs A660 and figured out which is powerful enough for your laptop. I mean, if you install video editing programs can easily process them. But you must decide which laptop to buy Dell or Toshiba

  • Satellite A660-1DW - fault LED and arrow keys

I just bought an A660-1DW. Everything seems to work fine except that the arrow and DELkeys do not always work. Most of the time they are very good, but maybe once in every twenty depressions you must press the button twice or even three times or he press very hard to make it work.

This is a new laptop, and no liquid has been spilled on it.

I found an entry in the knowledge base that deals with a similar problem for other types of satellites, but not the 'A' series. He recommended to switch off, remove the battery, wait awhile and turn with FN / N / 1 keys at the same time. I did, but it has no effect.

Someone had a similar problem? I have to send the laptop back to fix, or is there something I can do myself?

All opinions and advice are welcome.

    Matt.

The described issue was slightly different. It's a keyboard delay which has not assigned a particular button, but all the keys on the keyboard. But this has been fixed by the BIOS updated.

In your case, it sounds like keyboard problem
    Perhaps it should be replaced

  • Arrows left and right rarely work on Satellite A660-1DW

    Hello

I bought this laptop a few weeks ago from Argos to replace my old Vaio specification was the best I could afford. (it was purchased as an A660-17 but the label on the laptop says A660-1DW)

Was pretty happy with it, but suddenly the left and right arrows must be pressed extremely hard getting them to consider same work. Even in this case, it's rare!

I use the computer a lot so don't want to have to send for repair, and most of the branches of Argos seem to be sold out of them now.

Anyone have a suggestion of easy fix? (hit along I know)

    Thank you very much

    Mark

    Hello

I think that it s a keyboard problem that needs a replacement for keyboard
The guarantee must be valid, so I recommend t change yourself because everything will be covered by the warranty and everything should be doe for free.

So get in touch with a local ASP and ask for help!

  • Satellite A660-1DW - screen graphic problem becomes faints

Hi guys, this is the first time m write on any shape... !!

Basically, I bought toshiba A660-1DW from argos 4 months after using it for 4 months VGA (display graphic problem becomes faints and a little colored lines appear on the screen)

.. as I had the warranty for the laptop, I went to argos, told them the problem rather than send it back for repair they just have me service number customer toshiba...

returned home rang Toshiba, they gave me a few REF a bit and asked me of the drop to the argos... the next day went to argos they accepted and send it to toshiba for repair... after 3 weeks they have me called yesterday picked up the phone after using the laptop for 5 minutes, same problem was there...

then I took it back to argos they still accepted and send it for repair, but they also said if the problem 3rd time I'll have to take the same branch of argos from where I bought the laptop... .fondamentalement I bought in HOUNSLOW and I live in slough.

the conclusion that I am crazy about her, here it is... TOSHIBA AND ARGOS these people got the WORST service you will ever find anywhere on the other hand,

THESE PEOPLE ARE MUCH MORE BETTER THEN TOSHIBA because IF THE CUSTOMER IS NOT happy with the product they will replace or Exchange streight away...!

    Hello

I had a problem with my laptop and the ASP has replaced everything for free because the guarantee was valid.
The guys are really helpful and friendly, so I did a very good experience with the Toshiba service and notebooks of other manufacturers can also be defective

Of course, there might be some difference between the different cases, but I can't say that the service is not ok

  • Satellite C660 - mouse freezes for seconds

The mouse on my Satellite C660 is driving me crazy. As well as the functions I put t use, it hangs for seconds every time after passing on. I got to plug a USB mouse, which seems to stabilize on a Clipboard as well.

Is there a driver I can download to replace one installed and return to traditional mouse operation?

    Hello

    Do you mean the touchpad?
The touchpad driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba UE driver page:

  • Satellite A660-18 - Solution for WLAN switch disabled people

I finally solved this annoying problem, my laptop is a Satellite A660-18

Out of the box it just wouldn't connect to the wireless network. With the combination of keys Fn + F8 of the report: "Wireless communitcation is disabled, please enable the wireless communication switch.

Of course there is no such switch, just the FN + F8 key combination. After having tried various forums and technical support, I solved the problem myself.

    The solution is:
Go to the folder on your c drive "program files\Toshiba\TBS. Then scroll down the list of program files and double-click the file named TBSWireless.exe and hey presto, wireless communication goes on (Amber Light lights on the lower right front of the computer). Now the combination of FN + F8 key it will turn on and.

    Bye to all

    Absolutely great job, Fin_1!

Thanks for this solution, but I have to say that I didn't notice this problem on my Satellite A660 but it might be useful for other owners A660 :)

    Hello

To be honest, I never tried to connect my laptop to the TV with Intel® Wireless Display, but I found some information on the page from Intel:
    http://www.Intel.de/content/www/de/de/architecture-and-technology/Intel-wireless-display.html

Here's a nice HowTo movie created by Intel:
    http://communities.Intel.com/Community/Tech/intel_widi

    But the requirements are:

    CPU Core i7 - 620 M, i5 - 540 M, i5 - 520 M, i5 - 430 M, i3 - 350 M and i5 - 330 M
    In addition, you need Intel HM57, HM55-, - QM57 - or - QS57 - chipset
    And preinsatlled Windows 7.

Should check this with your laptop!

  • Satellite A660-1DW will not update to W7 SP1

    Hello

    I have a problem my A660-setting 1DW up-to-date Windows 7 SP1.

The service pack was never offered by Windows update and after having a look at this [Microsoft Website | http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2498452#method4] it seems that this driver is perhaps the problem. I can't find an alternative on the Toshiba web page driver drivers and update the driver, although the device manager tells me I just have the updated driver.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    Try updating the chipset driver?
Chipset driver seems to be up-to-date

In addition the laptop is equipped with a + Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset + so if you want to, you can check the available drivers Intel page, but in my opinion, it is not necessary.

In my opinion, the chipset driver is not the reason why the SP1 cannot be installed automatically

Try to install SP1 manually. Download from this page and run the installation file:

  • Satellite A660-1DW - adapter in the box?

    Hi newbie here.

It is perhaps the most incredibly stupid question on here but anyway. I bought a 1DW A660 Argos today and get it home, unpacked the portable, but seem to have only the power cord with the standard bog 3 pins taken end, wrong thinking that the power adapter is missing and that he should come in the box.

I know it's a stupid question, but with how companies are cutting back on what they give you these days I just want to be sure before going and raising hell in Argos!

    Thank you very much.

    Hey,.

It s no stupid question, boyfriend ;)
It s always interesting to share everyone's experience here and you can ask what you want about Toshiba laptops.

Anyway, normally with Notepad, you get a power cord adapter and normal that you wrote. So you need a power adapter in the box beside the power cord.

If this is not you must contact the seller and explain the situation. I m sure that you get for free a power adapter because it s just a mistake and nobody's perfect. ;)

  • No Satellite A660-1DW no available connection & the State of the map down

    Hello

Earlier this evening, I closed my laptop, its implementation mode 'sleep', while the battery is dead in mode 'sleep'. When I opened my machine up once again to go online (via radio) icon wireless (bottom left of the screen), showed a red x over the bars, declaring (unrelated - No. connections available)

The symbol wireless between the speakers and next to the power button is on, but when I press FN + F8, it indicates "wireless communication is disabled. Please activate the Wireless Communication switch.
Also, the wireless light on the right side of my laptop is not on.

When I click "Troubleshoot" he says just "turn wireless capability", but it is already on!

There is no problem with my router or modem that I can not connect my HTC Desire phone, through the same wireless connection.

"When I open my Toshiba Board and go to Wireless & network, and then he said:" adapter status: Down "the doctor to connectivity and Wireless Lan ' Type 80211" wireless

I tried to uninstall the adapter and drivers, don't know if I done this properly and reinstalled but it still doesn't work. I also tried a restore of the system again, did not work.

Any ideas, or specific details / I need to give to allow anyone to find a solution.

p.s. I can connect via ethernet cable.

    Hay buddy

Please note that person don't sit at home and wait for new assignments to answer. Your ad is a few days here and sooner or later, someone will react and write an own opinion.
I know that several other forums Toshiba where you can wait for weeks and no one will write a Word so please stay cool.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem. What you need to do is to restart windows and also of your router. After restarting windows enable WLAN card and sweep the area to see if your WLAN will be visible.

Also check if the wireless adapter is listed and installed in Device Manager. According to specification for laptop, your laptop has Broadcom BCM94313 WLAN card inside. Latest version of the driver you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads

    Where can I find drivers for Satellite A660-14 t for Win7 32 bit. ????? ?? ??????

    Help, please

If your laptop is not supported for Win7 32 bit, you won't find them on one place but should probably take Win7 32 bit drivers for the different laptop models.

Is that what you have already installed Win32bit on your laptop?
Do you need a specific driver?

Each screen (TV, LCD, TFT, portable computers display, external display, etc.) that may affect your eyes if you would not follow the rules recommended by the manufacturers and specialist eye ;)

You should take a break between sessions of computer work and games.
You must keep the distance to the screen and remember that your environment is bright enough

Read the operating instructions and ask your eye specialist how to avoid red-eye ;)
