Satellite A660-18 - Solution for WLAN switch disabled people

I finally solved this annoying problem, my laptop is a Satellite A660-18

Out of the box it just wouldn't connect to the wireless network. With the combination of keys Fn + F8 of the report: "Wireless communitcation is disabled, please enable the wireless communication switch.

Of course there is no such switch, just the FN + F8 key combination. After having tried various forums and technical support, I solved the problem myself.

The solution is:
Go to the folder on your c drive "program files\Toshiba\TBS. Then scroll down the list of program files and double-click the file named TBSWireless.exe and hey presto, wireless communication goes on (Amber Light lights on the lower right front of the computer). Now the combination of FN + F8 key it will turn on and.

Bye to all

Absolutely great job, Fin_1!

Thanks for this solution, but I have to say that I didn't notice this problem on my Satellite A660 but it might be useful for other owners A660 :)

    Hey,.

I think that the best place to get this a HARD drive caddy is an authorized service provider. The guys are able to order all spare parts Toshiba so they can check what the good caddy, etc.. I think that it s best option for you because so you can be 100% sure you get the right part.

In addition here he s here, only a user to user forum so no one can post the part numbers.

And by the way: list of ASP, you can find here:

    Hello

To be honest, I never tried to connect my laptop to the TV with Intel® Wireless Display, but I found some information on the page from Intel:
    http://www.Intel.de/content/www/de/de/architecture-and-technology/Intel-wireless-display.html

Here's a nice HowTo movie created by Intel:
    http://communities.Intel.com/Community/Tech/intel_widi

    But the requirements are:

    CPU Core i7 - 620 M, i5 - 540 M, i5 - 520 M, i5 - 430 M, i3 - 350 M and i5 - 330 M
    In addition, you need Intel HM57, HM55-, - QM57 - or - QS57 - chipset
    And preinsatlled Windows 7.

Should check this with your laptop!

    Hello

It's strange, but what message you get Windows exactly?
If I disable the WIFI using the hardware switch I get only the message that the portable peut t connect to my preferred wireless network but all that s.

An alternative you can also disable/enable WLAN using FN + F8 key combination.
In addition, I would try to update the driver WLAN you can find on the Toshiba site.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite T110-11U looking for WLAN Driver

    Hi all

In the traditional way, I joined the forum because I have a problem, but was unable to find a useful solution.

I have a Satellite T110-11U I bought years while in the United Kingdom. As I'm about to upgrade I'm about to give to a friend who is currently irrelevant.

The original HHD gave a time there is forcing to adapt again and load Win7 64 bit independently. I want to say I have to reload discs, but they never work!

I loaded all the latest drivers, but the WIFI driver does not work. From Toshiba Web site says I need a driver for Intel (wlesslan-20150928095045), but I'm sure it's a realtech interface.

I connected the laptop to the internet via the LAN interface and did a search in the Device Manager. Nothing. Still shows the "other devices".

Can anyone share a link to the driver that I need or offer any practice, but not too much technical advice as to what I can do.

    Thank you

    Ady

    Ok

  • Satellite Pro C660 - BSOD for WLANs by FN + F8

    Hello!

(Sorry for my bad English, but this is not my first language)

I have a problem with my (Windows 7-64 bit) Satellite pro c660.

When I want to activate or DΘsactiver wifi (fn + F8).
I see the wifi turns on, but after 2 seconds, I got a BSOD...

So I'm looking for drivers for my card (Realtek RTL8188CE) network and it does not work...
I search a lot and I found this forum. I find a lot of problem of "my fn +; '. does not work"and respond you"try to install VAP. I have download this PPV to my computer and right after having extracted the files, I have this message: "Please restart your computer."
I reboot and it still does not work... So I try to uninstall PPVS but I can't found on the Panel.

(I now see the fn + F9 (of / activate the touchpad) does not work.)

I have TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility version 1.62.0.28C.

    Hello

    Your message is very confusing
First of all, I don t think that missing WLan driver would cause a BSOD.

From my point of view you have a lot of problems with the system I m not quite sure if the resettlement of VAP would solve all your problems and I doubt that this would be solce your BSOD problem.

So I advise to use the recovery disk to put the laptop back to factory settings. If the BSOD would still appear after that the laptop was recovered, then I guess as a hardware problem (probably faulty module WLan) causing this BSOD

  • Satellite L500D Pro - Solution for drivers HD4100

    Problem:
After a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit on the of Satellite L500D Pro vor of the Radeon 4100 drivers cannot be installed.

    Solution:
Just take the 32-bit Windows 7 Toshiba Support drivers and everything works fine.

I spend my afternoon to find a solution to this and although I found many people with the same problem, there is no answer except 'no install windows from the CD of restoration' - which is absolutely no solution!
Then I tried everything that I could imagine and take the 32-bit package has been the salvation.

It should also work on other laptops with the same graphic card.

    Hi Eroghor,

Thanks for sharing this information with us. It s very useful! :)

But why is no recovery disk? It of best that you can do. Pick you up at the factory with all the drivers and tools. So you don t have any problems with the installation of the driver, and you can have fun with Notepad. :)

  • What is the last solution for the problem disabled Windows Firewall in Vista?

I have Windows vista 64 bit on a PC.
I've tried about 5 different error 0x6D9 code search solutions.
    Nothing seems to help.
In short, when I pull up the GUI firewall I press "Turn firewall on or off" and get "due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings.
When I hit "Update settings now", I hear a 'boing '.
When I pull up of Windows Firewall with advanced security, I said that "Windows Firewall with Security Advanced snap-in failed to load." Restart the firewall service on the computer that you are managing. Error 0x6D9 code.
In addition, Security Center is not displayed.
My firewall has been down for at least 5 months. I've ignored except that now I really need for my taxes. TurboTax does not refresh without a firewall running, it seems.
I tried: Windows updates. Yes, they have updated.
    I disabled my firewall.
I turned off the normal charge and tried to do a clean load without any program except for MS loading programs.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
I tried to do the Security Center to activate automatically by running services. The only problem is that there is no security poster Center.
    http://www.Vistax64.com/system-security/197568-Security-Center-service-cant-started.html
Under the instructions on How to use the file system tool Checker to troubleshoot system missing or damaged files on Windows Vista or Windows 7 , I ran the scan of the file system (sfc/scannow) checker. It found corrupted files, but the system said that they couldn'b be repaired. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
I cannot access the analysis files and don't know what I'd do, even if I could read. seems http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833 is beyond me.
Y at - he other recent advice?
I disable Kaspersky when I do this job, but I regularly clean the computer with K and let it run.
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hey Buddy,

Do you mean the Config Free? You can download it from the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If you have the error code 10 on LAN card, it seems that the driver isn't installed so. You can find it on the Web from Toshiba site too.

If your laptop is not supported for Win7 32 bit, you won't find them on one place but should probably take Win7 32 bit drivers for the different laptop models.

Is that what you have already installed Win32bit on your laptop?
Do you need a specific driver?

    :) Look, man

Each screen (TV, LCD, TFT, portable computers display, external display, etc.) that may affect your eyes if you would not follow the rules recommended by the manufacturers and specialist eye ;)

You should take a break between sessions of computer work and games.
You must keep the distance to the screen and remember that your environment is bright enough

Read the operating instructions and ask your eye specialist how to avoid red-eye ;)

  • Satellite A660 - Why do I need to stop when I want to restart?

First of all, let me say I am Portuguese and my English is not perfect.

So, I recently bought a _Satellite A660-1CJ_ and I was very happy with her in the early days. While some problems began to occur. However, with the help other posts in this forum, most of the problems have disappeared: all of them, with the exception of 2. I will mention one now and the other later (after I know a little more about what actually happens).
    So, here's my problem:
When I _shutdown_ my PC and then run it, everything goes as usual and start windows.
However, if I try to _restart_ my PC (in the menu of windows - instead to turn off and then turn on) it gets stuck with "Innovation leader TOSHIBA" or something like that. Nothing happens. I have to press the power button and it turbs quicky offshore once again, then I start and is normally boots.

If anyone knows how to fix this please help me.
    Thank you...

    Hello

I can t he understand. I also have Satellite A660 before me for 2 months and everything works perfectly, no problems at all. I must say it s one of the best phones I have ever had.

When stop you the laptop, how long it takes until it start to himself?

Have you disabled correctly this problem s BIOS wake LAN in the BIOS?
Also, try to reset the BIOS to default settings.

If you have connected an external equipment, you must remove them. I can imagine that an external device causes the start if you need to delete all.

  • Satellite A660 - Broadcom internal wireless adapter does not work

    Hi all

My first post to this forum - I have a new laptop of Toshiba Satellite A660 - only had for about 4 weeks and it turns out be a disaster for me...

Firstly - I spend weeks getting everything on and configured as I want - then the hard drive begins to die...

I just returned it service center Toshiba and NOW wifi has stopped working...
Internal broadcom wireless adapter doesn't work - but according to windows and built-in Diagnostics it works...

HOWEVER - when I try to use wireless with the built-in adapter may not detect all wireless networks...

I then plug in my adapter netgear usb wireless backup and I can pick up and connect both of my wireless home networks...
I am moving abroad in a few weeks and need to know that my laptop will work/be reliable and not have any problems-if anyone can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.

    John.

Before starting the scan for available wireless networks you have activated WLAN card correctly?
