Re: Satellite L40: strange sound USB

Hi everyone :)
First of all sorry for my English...

I recently purchased a L40 - 17U satellite with vista home premium.

Everything works fine, but I do not understand one thing...

When I close the Panel/lid and computer goes to sleep/hibernate play a sound (exactly its system - as when disconecting usb). When I open the lid and computer wakes up and plays a sound too, as connection usb... but it's strange, the sound is without ALL the usb devices connected... There is no USB device connected to one of the three usb ports...

All the works of devives (if logged in) usb very well before and after putting into hibernation, there is no problem with usb, next to that strange noise... There may be any internal device that is disconnected and connected when hibernate? It is not a RTL8187B wlan card (I found somewhere on the internet information, from a guy who has the same sound in his L40, he took off the wlan card and the noise was still there... but for this, no info on what causes this noise)

I have in my fujitsu siemens Li2727 Office book, and there is no noise like that when going to Hibernate...

And my question is:
Is this normal? You have in your L40 the same? What is this mean sound?

Thanks in advance
Tom

Eventually it s only a problem of Vista;

I found this article Ms knowledge base:

* + A USB device may no longer work correctly when Windows Vista comes out of standby or hibernation + *.

Check it out.
Maybe it helps.

Good bye

I really need help from anyone out there. I installed Windows XP Home edition on my Toshiba Satellite L40 after that I realized, there is no sound. I tried to install all kinds of updates, drivers and all, but still nothing.

All make me is that I have no audio device.
Grateful for the help as soon as possible.
    Holla.

Do you have the yellow marks in Device Manager?
Are you sure that you have installed all the drivers?

Have you installed SP2 or SP3 for Windows XP? You must at least use SP2 for XP.

And as said Akuma, check the Microsoft KB to the hoftixes. Before you apply this update, you must remove the driver. Otherwise it will not work.

You can also search in the forum, there are already discussions on this topic.

  • Satellite L40: low sound quality

    Hello

I have the problem with the sound quality in L40.
Some at the level of the volume of some movies divix is good but in a bit of sound is very low. Likely it has connected with setting the sound card and when I play the movie with surround codec, the sound is very low, but when I play movie in stereo codec, sound is loud and clear.

Where can I change the audio settings and make sure that movies with sound wil surround play in stereo?

PS. Sorry for my writing, I know is terrible ;-)

    Hi Darckar

Satellite L40 unknown for me, but all the settings of the sound that you can find in Control Panel under sounds and Audio devices. Check all parameters, in particular under the Audio tab > audio > Advanced Audio properties.

I don't know if this will help, but you can check in any case.

  • Satellite L40 USB, wireless, modem, and its failure

I'm trying to solve a Toshiba Satellite L40 and ask yourself how I diagnose a hardware failure.
Problem is that the free wireless and sound had stopped working and it would freeze whenever a USB device has been inserted.

Decided to do the new install of XP, but it failed each time to 34 minutes.
I've suspected of hardware failure as well as a USB was curved touching another PIN to cause a short circuit.
Bent it back but install still failed at 34 minutes.

Remove the wireless card, always not so I removed the modem and it went through without error.
Installation of two causes fall in XP install.
Have installed all the latest drivers and even flashed the BIOS, however, still have the following problems:
Insertion of a USB device causes yet portable no freeze, no sound and wireless / modem not picked up by windows during the installation after the installation.

    Shows Device Manager:
1 exclamation point on "Microsoft UAA bus driver for High Def Audio"
2 "unknown device" in the USB controllers but not exclamation mark - peripheral USB not connected.

It is possible that the 'short' USB has damaged a controller on the motherboard is causing the failure of these devices?

    Any help would be appreciated

    > 1. Exclamation point on "Microsoft UAA bus driver for High Def Audio"
Win Xp requires the Sp2 and Sp3.
Patches are part of service packs and are necessary for its work.

    > 2. "Unknown device" in USB controllers but no exclamation point - USB devices not plugged in.
The internal webcam is connected to the USB controller then perhaps, you add the webcam software.
Otherwise this could have something to do with the USB port defective

  • Strange noise coming out of my Satellite L40

I noticed two times a strange noise coming out of my Satellite L40

He came out of the blue and I use a DSL wireless connection.
The sound of my cell phone was off.

Is that what anyone has noticed the same thing or do you not know what it could be?

  • Satellite Pro A60: strange sound coming from speakers

    Hello.

My brother has a Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 - my old laptop. However, it has a strange sound question. I wiped it a few months back, and the sound worked fine. However, after a week or two he suddenly started to sound like the speakers were blown out.

I made the assumption that stakeholders were indeed blown and connected to external speakers - but they made the same noise! I was wondering, this sounds like a card his fries, or a drivers/software error?

If it is a mistake to sound card, the sound card can be changed?

    Hello

without changing the card its couldn t, it s on the motherboard and if you want to Exchange, you must exchange the motherboard together.

First question: did you always guaranteed on this machine?

    Then my suggestion:

Back up the data on the machine, the recover with the recovery CD and then the noise should be gone. If not, and if you still have warranty on this machine, so it would be better to bring the machine to a service partner for a checkup of material.

Give some feedback if you have any additional questions.

I had just got my laptop reformatted with XP Pro service and have no sound. Downloaded drivers for the realtek and still no sound

    Help please

    REDA

    Hello

Satellite L40 is equipped with a sound card high definition and this means that you need to install SP3 first, then the audio driver.
SP3 contains two patches from Microsoft you need for this sound card.

So remove the audio driver installed, install SP3 and then reinstall the audio driver.

  • Strange problem on my Satellite L40-139

I've been strugling with a problem for a while now, and I don't have a lot of aid assistance. Its like my new Toshiba has a memory problem, but I don't know if its caused by Windows Vista or if its HW related.

    This is what happens:

When I surfed with IE7 og have 7 tabs open at the same time, his similar windows runs out of memory, all of a sudden I can not open a new tab and do a right click on the touchpad does not react. If I can minimize IE7 and right-click on the desktop nothing product.
If I then close some programs (his only Yahoo Messenger og coreTemp running (coreTemp shows how hot your cpu and min is constantly between og 56 64 degrees celsius)), then right click works again.

Usually when that happens, I can't even upward Task Manager, but if I close Yahoo Messenger so that I can, and now I see that it is used about 47% memory, under process I can see that:

    Yahoo uses up to 50MB
    IEXPLORER 27-150MB
og Dwm.exe takes up to 120 MB.

The problem also happens if Yahoo is not started, so this isn't the cause.

I disabled aero and minimal use of all things Vista comes with, then the I me maximum performance following most of the instructions of www.Vistaguide.dk but the problem persists whenever I use IE and use more than 7 tabs (this should not happen, and using more than 7 tabs is perfectly normal).

In addition to surfing the net, I use it for video playback with VLC or GOM player and music from Winamp. I don't play games.
Here he is never short of memory.

His Danish Vista Home Premium and in general I think it runs worse than what Home Basic on 2 GB of ram.

My laptop is a Toshiba satellite L40-139:

Intel Celeron M 520 clocked at 1.6 Ghz, 2 GB DDR II 667 Mhz (which fits the model), Toshiba 120 GB HDD S - ata, Atheros Wi - fi, 943GML chipset.
Comes with Norton Internet security pre-installed.

I put auto tunning high heat: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglev = high

It has not solved the problem.

Basically its like Vista is simply out of memory, but I can see in taskmanager which is not the case since there are only 47% of 2 GB of Ram with a 4096 MB swap file.

What I don't understand, is that there are other people who have a similair system and they do not have this problem.

I scanned for viruses and other dirt with Dr Web Cure and it found nothing, neither Norton.

The things that I think could be causing this is:
1 Norton Internet Security 2007, which could have a flaw that makes this place.
    2. the CPU is has a 533 Mhz FSB and Ram a 667 Mhz FSB (should be only a problem if the Ram is slower than the CPU). Memtest says they are OK.
3 Vista has an error which allows to not release the memory again, but it stacks up just up until the error occurs.
    4. the fact that there is a flaw in my CPU or chipset.

If its 4, the Toshiba has a program so I can test it?

The problem has been there since I bought one even with th initial Ram inserted.

I love hearing from Toshiba, which may be the cause/solution for this, and if someone else knows it please let me know, I can't be the only one.

    With greetings

    Jan Johansson

    Hello Jan

You are not alone with this. You won't believe me, but it happens on my two laptops. I use more Satellite M70 with WXP and Satellite P200D with Vista Home Premium. This strange issue with IE7 arrives on two laptops.

I know with certainty that at the beginning M70 I didn t notice this problem. As you know anytime a Microsoft automatic update and maybe a few patches is responsible for this. Sorry, but I don't know what we can do. Only solution is to close IE7 and IE7 end process running in Task Manager.

Just for example: I tested it with Opera browser and there is no problem at all. If you want you can test also.

  • Satellite L40 - 14F - can't make my sound card works with XP

I can't make my sound card works. I tried to install all versions of drivers, but not sound.
Then I tried installing high-definition sound updated for windows XPSP2 and still nothing.

Ultimately, when I installed the drivers for another computer, I could see a sound card in Device Manager, but I got! the driver and it says "the device cannot start. I installed a new original drivers and once more, nothing has changed.

Is there a possible way to solve this problem?
PS. using Toshiba L40-14 f :-) and Windows XP pro with service pack 2.

    Hello

Satellite L40 - 14F belongs to the series of PSL4CE.
XP drivers for this series don t exist on the Toshiba page at the moment!

I have found that the package of XP driver for PSL48, PSL49, PSL4C and PSL4B model number!

So, it seems that you simply try to install incompatible drivers!

If I m not wrong not the device uses the Codec Realtek ALC660 chip and chip high definition audio Intel HDA (Azalia)!

Check the driver from the Intel page and upgrade the XP to the last State at the beginning
