Re: Satellite L500 - HARD drive not recognized in BIOS

Hi guys,.

Yesterday, my mother-in-law has been using his computer and play some games. The computer froze and I had to force a shutdown. Upon restart, the computer continued to give the following message is displayed:
PXE - E61: Media control failure, control cable (or something similar)

I removed the HARD drive and replaced him, with no avail. I checked the BIOS, and the disc HARD is still not save in there, so not sure the hell happened.

Anyone has any ideas on this? I'm looking at a new HARD drive otherwise.

See you soon,.

Nathan.

Hey,.

If the HARD drive is not recognized in the BIOS more I think that it s faulty and you need a new. This is the reason why you get up a PXE boot message initially.

Is your laptop still under warranty? Then you can get a new HDD to an authorized service provider for free.
Otherwise, you can buy yourself but it s not expensive. You can use each interface SATA 2.5 HARD drive.

    Hi all

I have a Satellite M70 and I have a Western Digital external hard drive.

    Hello. Deploy a satellite A200.

With disk hard deleted computer will start after market boot disk and running program diagnosis ok. Can now access the settings of F2.

Format external hard drive, reinstall and start with the startup disk, hard disk appears in the bios, the test runs diagnostic ok.
Tried to install Windows XP and XP pro and windows twice starts to install and then comes up with an error saying there is no hard drive present, even if the Bios and a diagnostic boot disk at the same time recognize the hard drive.

  • IDE hard drive not recognized in bios Vostro 200

My friend gave me his Vostro 200 when she bought a new computer. I took the 130 GB drive HARD from my old computer and installed with a mini vertical bridge Sabrent SBT-SCIDE and a Molex to SATA power adapter. When I booted the computer and check the Bios, it does not appear. I checked the connections, and they agree, then I hung up in the old computer to ensure that it still worked. No problems in the old computer and no errors when I ran the disk check. Re-installed in the Vostro, but still not recognized.

Did I miss something as controllers or orders at the entrance?

For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated... ed

Most of the time these IDE SATA bridges do not work - you may need to try several of them until you find one that does - assuming one will indeed work.  The only reliable method to fix an old IDE drive to a new SATA system is to mount the drive in an external USB box.

  • Hard drive not recognized by BIOS in Dell Precision T7910 workstation

    Greetings,

I recently acquired a Dell Precision T7910 workstation without all the hard drives installed, so I went to the store and buy a 240 GB Sandisk SSD put in the hard drive and then installed caddy caddy in port 0 (I also tried port 1 with the same results), and then I turned on the computer and it says "no drives found" press f2 to enter setup or press f5 for the diagnostics. I think there is probably a setting in the BIOS to configure the hard drive that I'm ignorant, so any help would be appreciated.

Is there a CTRL-R (or another command CTRL during POST) to enter a for the LSI controller configuration utility? Possible that if installed/enabled, ports are managed by the controller LSI instead of the BIOS. However, I have not a 7910 to watch... just go out how it worked normally.

    Hello

    ·          Were there any changes made to your computer before this problem?

Step 1: Try running Microsoft fix it in the following article:

    Reference: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/hardware_device_problems

    See also: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Tips-for-solving-problems-with-USB-devices

Step 2: Check if the external drive is getting detected in disk management.

If the hard drive is recognized in disk management and if there is no letter assigned drive, I suggest you make a right click on the drive and assign a drive letter and check to see if it helps:

    Hi trinitario,.

Because the hard drive is not detected in the BIOS also, it may be due to a hard drive configuration that should be changed or a rider. If you need to get in touch with a Local tech-store for assistance.

Note: change in the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • Impossible to install Win 7 on Satellite C660 - 26H - HARD drive not recognized

    I reinstall windows 7 on a Satellite C660 - 26H
The hard drive failed on this laptop, so I added a new Toshiba 160 GB sata drive.

When I try to install windows 7 I get the error message

"no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok"

I get this when I would normally be choose which windows installation disc too. I guess I need driver sata for the laptop?

Where can I get the driver for this laptop sata?
Or do I have driver sata for the new hard drive?

    Any help appreciated, thanks!

    Hello

First check to see if the new HARD drive is listed and recognized in the BIOS. It must appear on the first page of the BIOS.

If his list, and save the changes by pressing F10 and access to the BIOS.

I'm not very well if you need the SATA drivers because AFAIK Win 7 should already contain a standard SATA driver from m.

However, the SATA drivers are on Intel page.
You should look for Intel Storage Manager.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite M30-841 - large hard drive not recognized

    HY guys,.

First of all, I want to say hello, because this is my first post in this forum. Merry Christmas as well!

I am writing because I bought a 160 GB 2hard disk to replace my old 60 GB. When I troed to install it, I saw that it recognizes just 128 GB which, according to my research, is due to the LBA 48 bit not supported on my laptop (Satellite M30-841).

    I tried to everythingmentioned:
-J' have flash Bios o update the 1.70 (last available driver toshiba Web site)
-J' changed the downloaded XP SP3 and I changed the registry to install a key DWORD EnableBigLba.

However, she still recognizes only 128 GB. I'm losing hope to install the new hard drive. Anyone of you has a suggestion that I should try?

I realized that I should update the driver of my motherboard, but I don't know where they are, if there is (I don't even know the name of it, despite the use of everest - which shows DMI.

    Am I missing something?

    Thank you very much

    Icemaster

    Look, man.
The HARD disk controller seems to support the 28-bit LBA.
The disk controllers HARD supporting the 28-bit LBA address max 128 GB HDD.
Controllers HDD support 48-bit LBA address bigger hard drives.
But this is a physical limitation and you will not resolve this update anything.

In your case, there is nothing to see

  • Satellite L500-246 - HARD drive not found in BIOS

    Good afternoon

My problem is that I have a Toshiba L500 - 246 to oblivion, put a password on Windows 7 and now, don't remember.

I decided to start over and delete the entire computer. I clean the fan, I put thermal paste to the processor and the graphics card and decided to delete all partitions and create one.
Want to boot from the DVD, I went into the BIOS to change the BOOT boot, and on the first screen, I get the following message: "HDD / SSD not installed '." I changed the settings in BIOS, but still the same.

When I enter the Windows 7 DVD, you read me well until the window that says he needs the control disk, and in this window, I don't see any disk. I tried with two SATA drives, and I get the same message.

Put his ear on the hard disk drive to start the laptop computer is the sound characteristic of light, but still do not leave anything in the BIOS.

Now, enter in the browser to find the driver, I get the following:

A X startup disk: 30 MB of capacity

The USB flash drive appears as drive me C:

And finally, I get the CD in D drive:

    Why could this be?
Why do I get the USB as a C drive?

    Thanks and greetings

    Your ad is really confusing.

First, it would be useful to know if the SSD or HARD disk drive is listed in the BIOS (BIOS first page)
If his list, the HARD drive is OK and follow along you with the installation of the system
If it is NOT listed, you need to replace the HARD drive

Lets assume, the HARD drive is OK and you have started the installation.
During the installation of Windows, you will be asked to add the SATA controller.

You will find on the page of the Toshiba UE driver the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver
This driver contains the SATA files that you add during the installation of Windows.

    Hope this helps

    Hi all!

The BIOS cannot recognize my new 500 GB SATA HARD drive. When I connect it to the laptop, BIOS says "No device" in the drive options. Tried jumper allows you to change the interface of disc HARD SATA-1, but without effect.

You can use nLite software to create a new XP CD and include drivers SATA (Intel Storage Manager) on this new CD of XP.
The nLite is a freeware software and you can find and download from many Web sites.

    Google is the key ;)

  • Satellite Pro A60 - HARD drive not detected by BIOS

    Hi all!
I received a Pro (PSA65E) Satellite A60 for free... because it has a bug! But I want to fix it and use it.
Problem is that the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS. Strange enough, it is possible to format during the initial phase of an installation of the OS from scratch (I tried with Win XP and Win 2000), but facilities do not proceed any further because it won't start HD. If I try to install a time shild, he can't find some data already present in the HD and gives warnongs... which means that it is also possible to write to the disk.
The BIOS screen shows: no drive.
CD-ROM drive is OK, shown as secondary.
I also look in the forums to nothing does not.
    Actions taken so far:
    * flashed the BIOS, now at version 1.90
    * Replaced the original HD (Toshiba, 40 GB) known to be good, by another more small (Toshiba, 30 GB)
    * Tried to remove the drive CD and checked BIOS recognizes, it has been removed and recognized it even when delivered. The same manoeuvre with the HD does not change the BIOS screen: he says still 'no drive '.
    * Tried with the BACK of Partition Magic version: it says "no disk found. Same thing with the backup came with the PC disks.
Tried other stuff found in Fora them: remove all the power sorce, let the PC for a few minutes... open and checked for visible problems in the area of the disc HARD and so on.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated!

    Thank you

  • Tecra M9-185 - 750 GB HARD drive not recognized

    I have Tecra M9-185 (PTM91E-0G4045G3) with BIOS Version 1.90 dated the 29.02.2008.
It came with HARD drive of 160 GB, which is quite old and needs replacement. I want to upgrade the HARD drive. I tried to use the 750 GB HARD drive, but it was not recognized by the BIOS.

Is it possible to upgrade the HARD disk? Is there a limit to the ability of the new HARD disk that can be installed?

    Hello

Of course, the HARD drive can be upgraded.
The laptop supports the SATA controller. The SATA controller is not limited to a special HARD drive size of my knowledge. 750Go should be supported too. But it might be possible that the BIOS is not able to manage these dimensions.
Try a different SATA HDD with the smaller size.

But question: why you n t choose an SSD (250 GB)?
I have improved my Tecra A10 with a 250 GB SSD and the performance gain is amazing. The machine is running much faster and quieter
