Re: Satellite M105 is screwed now

After solving my BSoD TECRA problems (well almost) enough to put XP PRO works with the new 1 TB drive and a new extra memory I thought to be smart and put the old HDD 160 GB of the TECRA in the Satellite BUT I finished in deep OOP with this PC as well...

Having a summer never used a legal copy of XP PRO (well I use it for a few days with the 1 TB drive in this PC) but that the HARD drive is now in the TECRA running on XP PRO OEM Code of the TECRA product I ran the product recovery CD...

Finally I gave up trying to get the Satellite at work and decided that I can try to reinstall XP PRO

BIG MISTAKE, I'm done with errors of key typed even if I entered exactly right key information, and you must activate this copy of XP, before you can log on errors when I try to log into Windows.

The HARD drive that was in this PC has crashed a few years 80 GB and a new 80 GB HDD was put in and a legal copy of XP was installed... However now MS say support which is an illegal copy when I phoned them. I said OK, I have a completely unused copy of XP PRO and gave them key figures, I expected to validate the key that was in the PC but they did send me a useless web site now it seems that my totally legal copy is illegal and that the only person who knew this number key except I was the guy from MS support...

A Satellite that will not work with the 160 GB drive in it and do not let me do anything so I...

With the old 80 GB drive in it still works fine AND it did not work with the disk of 1 TB in it when I tried to fix the BSoD on my TECRA so I am totally one as to what is happening with the drive of 160 GB to this machine... This HARD drive * WAS * works well in the TECRA before I switched and put in the 1 TB HARD drive

I now have a USB - SATA Caddy so I can look at and change things on this record, I don't really want to re partition/reformat it but it looks like this is my next move

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP PLEASE.

Thanks for your comments

  • Slow internet via Satellite M105

Just upgraded my Satellite M105 with two matched 1 GB memory modules previously, he had a module of 512 MB in it running XP PRO on a new 1 TB SATA HDD and it seems much slower than before.
I just upgraded all of them that I had a problem with WiFi drivers (doesn't) but which is now very good.

Run tests of speed on speedtest.net and it is very slow sometimes BUT when I use my Gmail or web page it seems to take forever and hesitates with entry of data in email and on a web page when entering URLS, and things like that.

I tried both Firefox and Safari, and they both seem to be VERY VERY SLOW seems to be offline in MS OFFICE Word, Excel and OpenOffice seems to also be works well, it looks like a network problem.

Tried both hard wired and WiFi, and it seems to be substantially the same on both.
Speedtest.NET running on my desktop computer is fine, so it is not a router or ISP problem

My DT is 15 + DL and 1.5 Mbps UL portable DL 5 Mbps and UL.5 Mbps

    Any ideas?

Can someone also tell me what I should have installed to networking drivers

    I have:
    Atheros AR5006EG Wireless Network adapt
Provider Driver Atheros Date 16/09/2005 see 4.1.2.111 of the C:\WINDOWS\system\DRIVERS\ar5211.sys file

The file Driver Provider Microsoft Date 01/07/2001 C:\WINDOWS\system\DRIVERS\RTL8139.sys see 5.398.613.2003

To download the drivers check US support page - http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

In my view, the problem is the HARD drive. Your Satellite is not the latest model laptop and I don t understand why upgrade with 1 TB of HDD. Original 80 GB to 1 TB. Sorry, but not logical for me.

Check it with compatible 80, 120 or 250 GB HARD drive and post results.

  • Installation of recovery on Satellite M105-S3004

    Hi I'm new here.

I have a Satellite M105-S3004 bought more than a year ago. The dejected XP operating system about a month ago. I tried to reinstall it by myself because the warranty has expired. I tried several times but all failed. I'll try to describe what I saw as accurate as possible below. Thank you first of all for good guys in this forum.

At first, my laptop rebooted automatically when he was running. Sometimes when I turned it on, he tried several times to start Windows XP. Between these tests, the screen was blue with error message to this topic. He was so fast that I couldn't read anything. Finally my laptop didn't start XP even in safe mode, with the following error:
    \windows\system32\config\system missing or corrupt
Then I started to reinstall XP Home edition (I have a Toshiba Recovery DVD. But first I do the opinion of t to use. It seems different from a Windows XP CD. "But I was finally told of Toshiba Recovery DVD has a copy of XP media center version). I tried three times to reinstall XP Home Edition. The facilities have been successful and I could restart the notebook after installing. However, if I turn it off completely for several minutes, then lit, error message:
    \windows\system32\config\system missing or corrupt
    or
error: load needed DLLs for HAL
I was completely lost. What the hell was going on? One of my friends suggested that the hard drive is broken. I bought a new one (same model) and tried, my cell phone was dead to
    Setup starts windows
    during the installation.
I also run the Memtest86 memory testing software + and found one of the memoirs of 512MB (533 MHz) is a mistake. I only replaced with an another 512 MB (667 MHz), run successfully the test software, no error, then reinstalled XP Home Edition. When I tried to restart, failed with the error:
    \windows\system32\config\system missing or corrupt
I took the 512 MB of memory (667 MHz) and one integrated on the left. This time I even could not in the BIOS. (Toshiba is really wired. For my computer, you can replace only a memory. The other location is built and you can do nothing. I have never seen this before.)

Now say something about the recovery DVDs. When I followed the instructions and put it in the DVD player and tried to boot from this DVD. First of all, it went well.
    Loading RAMDisk image
    Then the error message:
file \i386\system32\ntoskrnl.exe could not be loaded. Error code # 4
This happened before I replaced the memory.

After replacing the memories I tried the recovery DVDs. The error code is different:
file setupdd.sys could not be loaded. Error code is 4.

Now, I can't help. I spent a lot of time on this computer. I feel really frustrated. Before I send my laptop for repair, I hope I can get some advice from you guys and I can learn what is really happening. Million thanks in advance.

    Hello

He is a man very long history.

I read your whole post and in my opinion there's nothing wrong with the HARD drive because you were able to install the OS on the HARD drive but there may be something wrong with the two memory modules.

You're right about the memory locations.
It seems that only a module of memory is upgraded to the user and the second memory is hidden somewhere beneath the keyboard.

You have replaced one module but possible malfunctions second too!  :|
It would be really interesting to know if this problem could be solved by the replacement of the memory two modules.

In your case, I would recommend contact a computer technician, because as you said it of very difficult to find and remove the second module on the Satellite M105.

Then, you can try to install the OS of the delivered Toshiba DVD or from the original CD of Microsoft windows.

    Good luck

  • Satellite M105-S3041: where to find a second memory slot

    Hello everyone!

I just desperately on the TOSHIBA forums for an emergency with a few tech question (more than a problem).
I own a TOSHIBA Satellite M105-S3041, I currently have Windows Vista Edition full, but only with 512 MB of RAM.
Yes, he did run the badly slow, so I bought 4 GB of RAM (two sticks of Kingston 2.0 GB).

Now, the real problem comes when I begin to wonder "how I go to install", I turned upside down from my laptop and I find this small 'door' affluent as a memory icon little engraved.
So I guess that's where the RAM memory.
Now, my wealthy laptop RAM TWO modules for up to 4 GB of RAM, as stated in the User Guide, but when I opened the small 'gate' I saw that he was (or seemed to) that a SINGLE module and I couldn't see the stick of 512 MB of RAM today!

Until "my computer is running on imaginary memory!
Laughing out loud! "and I can not find the second module!

Help, please! I need to install any memory now and here where I live there Center support TOSHIBA No. or even a dealer who could help me!
So I depend only on TOSHIBA online support!, IF possible, in response, I can get a link to a video tutorial or maybe you guys include photos in your answers to guide me?

    Thank you very much!
    Trino A.

I think that it has already solved the problem. ;)

    Otherwise, he would publish again.

  • Need to reset the Protector Suite fingerprint reader - Satellite M105-S3084

My wife was interested in using the Protector Suite fingerprint reader that came on his Toshiba Satellite M105 S3084.
She tried to register, but it looks like someone has already registered and need of the original candidate of fingerprint or password.

I have extracted a confession from my teenage daughter, but he does not recognize her fingerprints, and she can not remember the password.
She thinks about one of his friends were playing with it (it was a year ago).

Anyway, we can reset everything, so that my wife can do it again?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Seems the same problem I have... Following error message box appread.

I used to use VISTA and I have registed finger the index print until yesterday. I deleted all the partition and then installed Windows 7 and installed all the drivers. I could all registry middle finger, but I was no longer able to index regisger.

Another reason, I created a new windows profile and delete the old profile of windows. After that, I could not record not only the index, but also major as well. I guess these finger print data stored outside the windows user profile, but I can't find where it is. How I remove registerd information?

  • How to connect by Satellite M105-S3084 on TV?

I have a Satellite M105-S3084 equipped of XP SP-2. How can I connect to a TV so that the image appears on the TV? I looked at the manual and it doesn't have a description of the ports on the back and sides of the laptop, or it identifies not what kind of cable I need.

In addition, special precautions or settings I have to do? I used it with a digital projector, but it was a different cable installation.

It is placed on the left side S-video port. Use an S-Video cable and connect it to your TV. Please note that this will transfer the video signal only. For sound, you must use headphone output port.

I put t know not in what country you live but make sure laptop and TV have the same setting (PAL or NTSC). Also, be sure that the S-video TV port is successfully activated.

  • Can I use a module of RAM 2 GB in Satellite M105-S1021

My TECRA stopped with the BSoD (on another thread) and I had to leave my old Satellite M105 - S1021 and try and get it going again.

First problem was running PRO XP without service pack and it was a * LEGAL * XP home upgrade - tries to install the SP, I received the product key was not valid message - cannot find the CD of XP Pro I used I called MS Support (sounded like in India) and vain - I expected to be provided with a valid key BUT NO! Why MS play the stupid guys like that on a software product is stupid IMHO and brief overview just puts a bad taste in the mouth and make me want to go to UBUNTU LINUX.

So I had to search in a room full of hardware and PC (sad hoarder I have still a few BACK/WIN 95/98 machines) until I found a CD of XP PRO with a product key if I had XP PRO installed on this Satellite laptop and installed the latest SP

BUT then I discovered that this laptop as well as it having previously PRO XP without a service Pack installed, there only 448 MB of RAM installed.

Looking at the memory Crucial site they recommend an upgrade to 2 GB BUT it's 1 GB x 2. Opening the door of memory I see that I don't have that one not slot the two connectors.
An upgrade to 2GB created using two modules of 1 GB Mem is therefore not possible.

    So my Question is:
Can I upgrade to 2 GB using a slot OR slots on this L/T only able to take modules 1 GB Mem - I guess as I can / could get a module DDR2 PC2 - 5300 Mem.

OR only can I put in a single module of 1 GB Mem.

Can you please first tell us we are discussing here on laptop Tecra or your old Satellite M105 - S1021?

For the Satellite M105-S1021 I found follow the news:

    Memory5
-Configured with 512 MB DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM (using a memory module, a memory xpansion open housing)
-256MB (min) / 2048MB (max), 512 MB of memory accessible service more accessible by the user memory available slot for 256 MB, 512 MB or 1024 MB DDR2 PC4200 533 MHz SDRAM.

    Compatible memory modules:
    PA3412U - 2M 51 Toshiba 512 MB DDR2-533 memory Kit
    PA3411U-2M1G Toshiba 1 GB memory DDR2 - 533 Kit

    Hello

This means that your mobile doesn t boot with AC/DC adapter and AC/DC adapter too?
    Really strange what s

Have you tried to remove the battery and the AC adapter? If you remove the two you should an hour and then reconnect the two. Maybe it will work.

If this isn't the case, it seems to be a hardware problem. You must contact an authorized service provider, you can give them a call to speak to a technician.

  • Missing letters when you type on Satellite M105

I use a Satellite M105-S3084 (Windows XP MCE) and fighting in vain with a keyboard problem since I bought it first. I tend to type fast, especially the double letters and find that very often a single of double letters appears on the screen. For example, 'kk' translate to 'k' only and the similar missing letters even if not doubled. This causes a lot of waste of time correcting what I type.

I know that there are parameters under control Panel\Keyboard ("repeat delay" and "repeat rate") which allow the adjustment of speeds, but I found the frustrating to use. I tried both with different settings and still have a problem with the missing letters. Maybe I don't know how to define that, and I just get frustrated, or there is another bet in another place which I do not know.

Others have had this problem with the mising letters while typing and found a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello, Jeff

If I'm remembering right, there was a similar problem with the Satellite L10 and L20, I don't remember. This problem has been fixed with the new version of the BIOS. US models of laptops are not known to me, but if you have time you can check IRIS ask on the page we Toshiba. You will find many interesting documents.

Check it out under the http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/supportcentral/supportcentral.do?id=m1

Maybe you will be lucky and find something on your problem with the keyboard.

  • Satellite M105-S308: silent acoustic CD/DVD icon appears in the taskbar

I used my Satellite M105-S3084 for quite awhile (year?) when suddenly for the first time a new icon appeared on my taskbar of Windows XP.

This is the icon for the acoustic CD/DVD Toshiba muffler.

Because I've never had this icon appears before (and yes I used my CD player a bit), I became concerned about his sudden appearance.

What is malware? What could arise? Do I need? Can I stop it from running?

    Thank you.

    > Would be - this malware?
No, it is not malware. This is as designed Toshiba utility. When you listen to music CDs, you can switch to silent mode, and the DVD player runs very quiet.

    > What could arise?
It is not easy to explain. This utility usually starts with Windows.

    > Do I need?
No. I am sure that you can live without this utility.

    > Can stop it from running?
Yes you can. Either remove you it from the startup folder system or check or even entered in the System Configuration utility, under the Startup tab (start run MSCONFIG).

    Good bye

  • Slow start up and close on Satellite M105

    Hi all!

I had some problems with my laptop Satellite (M105-S3031). The problem is when I turn it off, I have to wait more than 1 hour for it can restart and when I do a restart, the laptop turn off, but he's there, he is not again. The other problem is that I can't play music (mp3) with it already installed software to support that can music but the laptop do not (frezz).
I hope someone can help me with these problems.

    Hello

It s a really strange question. It s very unusual.
My old Toshiba laptop not that I bought several years ago was not able to open the .html files. The laptop each time frisottés after opening the html files.
I sent it to the service provider and the guy changed the whole motherboard.

It seems that the laptop is new and the warranty is valid.
Everything must be done for free

  • WiFI does not work on Satellite M105-S1021

My TECRA stopped with the BSoD (on another thread) and I had to leave my old Satellite M105 - S1021 and try and get it going again.

WiFi does not work on this laptop, even with the switch at the front, running and when I put in a USB WiFI module with an external antenna I get a very bad signal from my router wireless in the next room< 20="" feet="">

    Hello

I found the specification for this old Satellite M105 series data sheet:
    [Satellite M105-S1021 | http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1372978& rpn = PSMA2U & modelFilter = M105-S1021 & SelCategorie = 2756709 & selFamily = 1073768663]

Looks like the laptop was equipped with a map of Atheros 802.11 wireless network b/g.
If your internal wireless network card does not, even if you have enabled the external WLan switch, then I recommend check device manager first check that the area of Wlan Card network adapters usually map Atheros Wlan must be there if its not listed, install the Atheros Wlan driver

In addition, next to the switch hardware Wlan, you need to activate the WLan using Fn + F8

Regarding the USB dongle and a weak signal of Wlan:
Well, maybe the USB dongle aerial signal is too low on the other hand you should test connectivity using 802.11 B or 802.11 G standard only
