Re: Satellite M30X - display is red perdominatly

My laptop starts fine, but the screen is fuzzy, especially red, but still visible.

I have not have not the know how to diagnose, is the screen, the back ups or the graphics chip on the card mother etc pointers?
The laptop has just ran out of its warranty of 3 years can you believe!

Thank you very much

Hello!

Of course you can diagnose it by yourself buddy. You know that?

Well, I would try to connect an external monitor to the laptop. If the external monitor happens that the same issue it s a motherboard or graphic card problem.
If the external monitor works fine I think the LCD internal or cable is defective and must be replaced.
Check it!

You use the Toshiba display driver? Search the Web site for an update.

  • Satellite M30X has 8 x or 4 x AGP bus?

    Hi guys,.
I just got Toshiba Satellite M30X - 111 (British model), and although the specs on the toshiba site claim that this laptop has ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 with 8 x AGP bus when I go to display settings it says AMP max is 4 x. Anyone knows why is this? Someone here has the M30X, can you check in display properties what your max AGP bus, 4 x or 8 x?

Yes, I am of the Italy and my M30X-113 is AGP4x too. On the toshiba site, they say that there's a bus connection AGP8x. Maybe the bus is capable 8 x but the GPU is no longer able to AGP4x. But it would be strange to me that a 9700Mobile GPU has no capacity AGP8x. In any case, I'm a little disappointed with this thing.

  • Satellite M30X-127 does not illuminate

    Hello

    Need help!
My satellite M30X 127 does not illuminate. When I push the power button, it is DIRECTED in turn. But nothing comes on the screen. There is no sound and the fan does not start. I took it to a repair center and they told me the motherboard is fried and it will cost me 400 pounds to fix.
The guy there offered my 100 pounds for to buy me.
Please a little help. What should I do?

    Hello

Otherwise you will search in ebay for the second hand with the good motherboard unit.
Sometimes people sell books with the failure to display or other parts of damage, but the motherboard is ok.
You can try to use second hand motherboard in your laptop.

  • Satellite M30x-165 - screen is black

    Dear all,

    Unfortunately, my screen is black.

Whenever I start my laptop / notebook my screen (display / monitor) is black.

I can't use my laptop because I don't see anything. The system works.

    Why does this happen?
What can I do against it?

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Best regards
    JJ

    Hi JJ,

A friend of me had the same problem on his Satellite M30x too. He didn t see an image on the monitor internal but external monitor works properly.
Also, do you have plugged an external monitor to the laptop? You see an image on the external monitor?

However, after testing an external monitor that works, he replaced the internal screen FL inverter and the laptop working again properly. :)

If t, you can see an image on the external monitor too, it seems to be a hardware problem, maybe the card mother or something else.
    You can access the BIOS?

    Hello

I checked the Toshiba download page, and it has listed all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities for Satellite M30X.

I just hope that you have installed in the correct order. As you can see there are two display (Intel and ATI) drivers. Make sure that you have chosen the right way. Drivers LAN and WLAN are also there. Just start with the setup.exe file and follow the instructions to facilities.

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite M30X was delivered with a screen 15.4 "(1280 x 800) view wide TFT color display."

Only the dimensions of the screen are important. So if you want you can search a 15.4 "display.
By the way; the display is one of the most expensive parts of laptop. Perhaps a second hand M30X, or a display of second hand would be a better solution as to buy a new screen for around $ 300.

  • Satellite M30x-128: works on sector, but not on battery

First of all sorry for what is such a long post on my first shot! Laughing out loud

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite M30x-128

For the past few weeks I have been charging my battery and then by running the battery until it must be recharged again.

This is due to making connection to the rear a little questionable and needing to be propped up to get it to load.

Then the other day the DC connector in the laptop was released in total (dry joints give up eventually). Before that, the battery worked fine but came down to about 8% of the power.

So now, I disassembled the laptop and resoldered the DC connector on the motherboard. Now, the computer works perfectly over your electric network.

Battery shown LED amber (as in loading) and then, after a few hours as usual, she went green. Great I thought, and so I turned off the laptop and tried to start it via the battery with any connected network.

The laptop will not light. This is fault conditions that I have:

With no battery in it works fine on sector.

with battery works fine on sector.

with no current does NOT battery.

Battery is detected by windows and when I remove the battery windows also recognizes and also shows as being fully charged.

basically everything looks like it should be ok and works ok, but it is not

    Hello

It sounds like power supply to electronic malfunction.
Or the battery is dead and the operating system displays the wrong information about the State of the battery. But it is very impossible. In this case, I assume that you did something wrong by soldering the connector cc.
However, it of not easy to say exactly what's wrong. I recommend to make the laptop service partner because he can start a diagnostic test and can give you a detailed response.

  • Satellite M30X stops unexpectedly

My laptop started to stop dead without warning, even with a battery and during loading of the power outlet.

No downtime, no low battery beeps, no alert - just screen shuts off and the power light turns off. No idea what this may mean, or whatever it is I can run for more information?

Immediate departure after a crash screen displays 'Windows stop not properly', but 'Start Windows normally' works very well.

Maybe overheating! What do you think? Satellite M30x is pretty old laptop and perhaps it should be properly cleaned. Stops dust atop the cooling grill, process cooling and the material may be too hot.

Turn off suddenly without warning typical results from overheating.

  • Satellite M30X: Do I need a voltage converter?

    Simple question...

I have a Satellite M30X, and I go on vacation in South America. I am aware in the different plug type and I know that here they use different supply voltages (120 instead of 220 in the United Kingdom)
Do I need a voltage converter or the laptop has an integrated in-house?

    Hi Alvaro,

Your laptop runs on a fairly low voltage that is provided by your power adapter (15V for your M30X)

It is quite normal that the adapters offer a range of input voltages (usually 100-240) and it should be displayed on the label on your adapter. If you adapter is a multi-voltage unit then it should work as well in South America on the 120V as it does on 220V.

    Kind regards

The only difference I've seen looking at the photos is the dish that connects the keyboard to the motherboard.
My doubt is about the feature and if they are hardware compatible.

Can someone help me in this choice?

    Thanks a lot for all

    Michele

Satellite M30X is old enough laptop model, so I think that you should have no big problems to get the new keyboard. I had similar problem on my old Satellite M70 and I bought the new keyboard on eBay.

At this time keyboards were quite similar and a keyboard could be used on some models of laptops. eBay is the right place to find different hardware parts for old models of laptops and keyboards.
Unfortunately I can't help you with this keyboard control, so if you find the specification that says that it is compatible with M30X you can buy it.

Don't spend a lot of money for it. as I've written before on eBay you can find keyboards for reasonable price.

  • Update the driver for graphics card for Satellite M30x

I need to update the video card driver in my Satellite M30X (ATI mobility Radeon 9600/9700). Where can I find the latest version?

On the toshiba support page, there is only an older version (dic.2004). I already tried to install a feeding at ATI.com but failed (suddenly stops and says that my system does not support this driver). I really need this update...

    Please help me

    Hello

The driver from the ATI site will not help you. It is generally not possible to install the original graphic drivers from sites of s card on Toshiba laptops manufacturer.
The Toshiba own graphics drivers are a bit modified and not the same as the original ATI drivers.

However, the Web omegadrivers.net site provides drivers for ATI and NVidia chips and to my knowledge, it should be possible to install these drivers on your laptop.

  • How to connect a device to capture video for Satellite M30X 127

I'm going round in circles trying to find a video capture device that will work with a laptop computer and would be grateful for advice. For example, I am now looking to the ' Canopus ADVC-110', although still looking autour (but not Pinnacle, which seem to have a bad reputation for the elements of capture).

    Problems include:

    1. the main problem is - many video capture devices require a "line-in" for PC for audio transfer of good quality. This laptop is not a line in, only headphones and mike catches. In addition, I also tried a few RCA pins into the 3.5 mm headset jack, and they were too small. How to solve the problem of getting audio from the VCR to my PC?

    2. the ADVC-110 connects to the PC via Firewire (and S-video), but is a type of SIX pins. M30X is a FOUR pin type. There are adapters available?

    3. Some capture programs seem to require a huge capacity of RAM. A laptop will be adapted to do the job? (I just want to capture old VCR to PC vhs tapes, and then burn it to DVD with Nero 7 or similar).

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

You are right! You must use an external device for the transmission of signals to your laptop. I put t know where you have this info but I have good experiences with Pinnacle product. I used the USB data transfer.

"Canopus ADVC-110 is not known to me, but I put t see why this shouldn't work well." Use made software for video capture and there should not be any problem.

The only thing is that, after registration of video equipment together must be prepared to burn and the unit need a lot of power to do this well und fast. When you buy it and to use on the way I recommend to extend the RAM to 1 GB.

Compatible memory modules for your Satellite M30x are:
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

  • Satellite M30x not recognizing not all USB ports

My Satellite M30x has recently ceased to recognize all USB devices are connected that he, being a huge super biff computer I can only assume all my USB ports are totally exhausted.

If anyone has any other theories id be more than happy to hear... Thanks :)

    Hello

Something similar happened on my laptop. The laptop has stopped to recognize the external device (USB HDD). Someone told me that it happened because I used the safely remove. Usually, if you want to for example disconnect the USB HDD or USB key, you must use the remove before disconnecting the device from the laptop.
I just deleted all ports USB device and Manager after restarting the laptop operating system recognized all the USB ports again. Further, I have connected my external HARD drive, and it worked!

I put t know which external USB devices you use, but sometimes the machines cannot be allowed because the ports USB don t provide enough power.
In this case, you can disable the mode without power failure in the USB hub properties in Device Manager.

    Good luck
