Reader Extension Server?

Hello

I was told that the only way to create a PDF file and allow users to readers the possibility to attach documents to the form is to purchase a license from Adobe and to set up a "reader extension server. However, I could find no documentation or advice on how to actually buy a license or set up such a thing.

Does anyone have an experience with which can enlighten me?

Thank you in advance,

Pete

The Reader Extensions service part of the AEM Document Services now.

  • Can you Reader Extension Server integrate with Solutions like HP Exstream third 3rd?

    Hello
    I wanted to understand if it is possible to integrate Adobe Reader Extension Server (ARES) with a 3rd party Solution that does not have the ability to generate a PDF document that can be filled up and registered locally and and/or transmitted using eFax or email?

    This kind of integration will bring the solution left 3rd a fillable PDF generatte ability to screen which can be recorded and transmitted?

    Yes, integration of services LiveCycle, so drive - extend a document/form is easy.  I would drive the LiveCycle technical white paper, particularly the section on the invocation on page 7; My guess is that the web services would be probably the easiest. I assume you mean just the processs of reader-extension (where you just add the rights once a form), but the same architecture could apply for data extraction.

  • Attachment of files: Reader Extensions enabled

    I may not be understanding correctly, but have used a couple of example files that have an example 'Add Attachment' (below is an example) and my form is distributed with extension Reader enabled, but this does not work in Adobe Reader.  What is the best method to give the person who fills out the form an avenue to download or attach files?  If I have a web download address for files, is there a way to add that to the form, so they can stay in shape and always 'submit', but send their files at the web address?  Prefer if they could attach the PDF form to keep everything together, but welcome any ideas that will work in the reader, thank you.

    var myDoc = event.target;
    var sFile = "myFile" + NumericField1.rawValue;
    myDoc.importDataObject({cName: sFile});
    var myDataObject = myDoc.getDataObject(sFile);
    var sFileName = myDataObject.path;
    ListBox1.addItem(sFileName,sFile);
    NumericField1.rawValue = NumericField1.rawValue + 1;

    Hi Sparrowce,

    I checked it at my end and I'm also getting the same question. It seems that PDF to perform this task, PDF rights enabled by Acrobat Reader extension would not provide permissions to the document. However, I tried to extend permissions through the Livecycle Reader Extension Server and it worked for me.

    Therefore, I would say that for this question need you the expansion as Acrobat Reader LC Server as a product of office would not be able to provide sufficient rights for the PDF of this concern.

  • CFPDFForm requires Reader Extensions useful

    Came across something interesting today ' hui - I tried to attach a small form with a submit PDF button to a < cfdocument >. When the document is rendered in Acrobat Reader, the submit and dig. signature fields are disabled. I was wondering if there was a way to drive a form generated without having to buy Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extension Server?

    Yes, apparently this has been corrected in the first service pack release.

  • Can use adobe livecycle reader extensions to compile designer of adobe livecycle ES3 file?

    Hello

    I use livecycle designer and livecycle reader extensions to create PDF files. I want to use the action Builder feature, so I downloaded the ES3 Designer. After you have created a few new files, I tried to use livecycle reader extensions are (old version) to convert the file to add the saving function to adobe reader. It cannot convert the file successfully and stuck to the download page of the file as the attached screen. Does this mean I have to upgrade livecycle reader extensions to es3? Thanks in advance.

    He had problems of this kind which were caused by a Flash Player security patch.  See https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#! topic/livecycle/ZRj27vcLXOI

    My memory is a little hazy on this subject, because three years ago.

    There was a LiveCycle blog on this November 11, 2008

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/LiveCycle/2008/11/livecycle_and_flash_player_10.html

    Flash Player 10 broke the sample application Reader Extensions provided with LiveCycle ES 8.0.1 and 8.2.1. When you use it, it basically crashes. The solution is to go back to Flash Player 9 on these machines that you use as LiveCycle clients.

    This problem has been fixed in LC 8.2.1 SP3 as well as in the ES2.

    The key is to upgrade your server, or upgrade to an earlier version (9) of the flash player. (copy of the google group)

    As you say, this problem is caused by security changes in flash

    Player 10.  The Web Reader Extensions UI is based on flex.  For LiveCycle

    8.2.1, the file dialog box appears automatically after the conversion is

    all.  However, in flash player 10, there were changes in how the file

    reference is managed.  Since it is possible to show a file

    dialog box based on the user action) and automatically poping out this file

    dialog box based on the old code base no longer works.  It is a

    known issue in LC ES 8.2.1 and decommissioning for flash player 9 works.

    However, in fix pack 2 for LiveCycle ES Update 1.  (8.2.1.2), this bug

    on flash player 10 has been resolved with an explicit button for

    Download the file.

  • Fill in the fields on the customer side dynamically without the reader extensions

    Hello

    Can I make a call to the server of a pdf form using Ajax technology? I want to fill some textfields dynamically on the client side based on a user selection. I have not the license extension drive still make a web service call to the server. Is there another way to achieve the desired requirement?

    Thank you.

    Yes, there is a better way to do it without Reader Extensions.

    AJAX is not an option, because this is not supported by Adobe Reader.

    Here is the solution:

    Write that a REST based web or any Service Server Page that accepts the query string and meets the specified query string.

    Assume that a Page http://myserver.com/EmployeeDetails?EmpId=1234 server returns the details of the employee as comma-separated values.

    This page can be called from PDF using FormCalc

    the syntax is

    ResultField.rawValue = Get ("http://myserver.com/EmployeeDetails?EmpId=1234")

    EmpName.rawValue = ResultField.rawValue.split (",") [1];          Retrieve the name of the emp of result and fill in the field

    Note that if the page or the web service requires authentication, a basic authentication dialog box appears when you call this method.

    In order to better allow anonymous authentication for pages.

    I have implemented this approach in many projects and works very well.

    Hope that helps...

  • Installation of Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2

    Hello

    Adobe has informed us that we must use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2 instead of Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. We had some doubts as to the reason why, but it is a different matter.

    Now, when we want to order Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2, we indicate on what application server, we install (IBM WebSphere / Oracle WebLogic / JBoss). However, I want to install it on a desktop pc. Can someone explain which of the 3 options I need to order? What is the difference?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Reader Extensions that solve? (Sorry for the stupid question)

    I tried to understand what RE done, but my little brain is not up to it. Here's my situation:

    I have no server. I have a form created using LS which is distributed to 50 users using Acrobat Reader. These users will be complete the form, save it, possibly print and email the filled-inform.

    The form requires some sort of database containing the names and multiple addresses. The names are used to populate a drop-down list contained in a subform repeatable. Whenever a new instance of the subform is created, the drop-down list is populated with the list of names for the selection. Selecting a name causes the address information be completed automatically in the subform.

    My solution so far is to have an another repeatable subform (1 to n instances) that contains the name/address information. The administrator enters the name/address information (1 per instance of subform), and then save the form, and then automatically sends it to the end user. Whenever info name/address changes, a new version of the form is distributed: end user does never update this information.

    It would be useful to maintain the name/address info in a spreadsheet instead. This would facilitate the maintenance of data (copy, sort, etc.). My understanding is that I can not use a data connection in the excel worksheet because of rights on strictly local forms management. This interpretation is correct?

    I want to distribute the form and an excel worksheet in order to update the form and the data independently.

    It seems that RE can address this problem? Is this correct?

    Thanks to everyone for all the advice and information!

    Reader Extensions allows you to turn on player features based on form by form. By default the player would not have the feature in question. There are two versions of Reader Extensions. You use inside Acrobat will allow you to add the right to save a PDF file locally, add a digital signature, and add his comments. The Acrobat version also has a license that allows you to distribute the Reader Extended form will allow only a maximum of 500 users.

    The other version is a server based product and a module inside the LiveCycle server. It has all the features mentioned above as well as the ability to connect to sources external to the form (such as a database or a web service). It supports other extensions, but you did not mention those so I focused on those that you need.

    Note that you need only drive to extend the form once (before distributing it).

    So, to accomplish what you want, you will need the version of the server.

    Hope that helps

  • Remove Reader Extensions

    I have a few forms pdf with Reader Extensions enabled. How can I remove this? We do not want people to be able to save the file (but we hope that they be able to type in the form and print it out). I'm not a "file > save as copy" option.

    As I understand it, the latest version of the reader will allow people to save the filled even when file, but I still want to limit it to people who are still using older versions. Is this possible?

    I use Acrobat X Pro, version 10.1.6. I also have access to Livecycle.

    I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

    Yes, Player 11 is able to save a PDF not activated, but not if the PDF file is an XFA form without mail. XFA forms are created in LiveCycle Designer and are usually configured for Reader, but not necessarily. It is difficult to say for sure without looking at the PDF document.

  • Option of Reader extensions

    We recently bought Livecycle ES4 and I wondered how on the game, the PDF with reader extensions, it seems there an option available that it was easily available in our copy of Acrobat 9.

    Any help is appreciated

    You mentioned that you already bought LiveCycle ES4, is that bad?  Or do you mean that you buy LiveCycle Designer ES4?  If you have purchased Designer then Acrobat would be the right solution for you

  • Backup: Certificates of Reader Extensions

    Hello!

    Please, how do I backup on the Reader Extensions for safety certificates?

    Is it possible to do this in the Administration Console?

    Thank you!

    Marcos

    Hi Marcos,

    Anything in the trust store is in the database.  In an external HSM credentials are not at all in LiveCycle and must be backed up separately. Trust store is saved through the normal DB + GDS procedure which is described in the documentation of backup and restore from backup.

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/LiveCycle/9.0/adminHelp/admin.htm?content=000433.html

    Something that potentially a customer RE would only concern is that the DB + GDS is largely "disposable" in practice and save all this garbage, just to capture the CERT, is a major effort.  In this case, the recommendation would be to save the cert files prior to importation to RE.  In the case of an obligation to re - build the RE installation, re-installation of the installer and re - import certificates lets go back where you were.

    Another possibility is to build the initial system, save it once and then if something goes wrong, restore at this point. The credentials themselves are not changed or updated as you go along, catering for a first "checkpoint" will get things where they should be.
