Reading excel data file in Oracle form data blocks
Hi allI want to read the data from the excel file in the data block of the module of the form. There are many resources available that explain how to put the data in oracle forms in the excel sheet, but I can't find a single resource to achieve this functionality. Can someone please help me get around this problem. Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Bilal
Bilal,.
There is little documentation available through My Oracle Support, which shows how to read an Excel file in a form, but you need a support contract with Oracle to access the document (how to read data from an EXCEL worksheet in a form using WebUtil Client_OLE2 [813535.1 ID]).
I've seen this issue come up in the forum from time to time, so I wrote a small form demo which illustrates playback in Excel in a form. Discover forms: how to read an Excel file in a form. This demonstration uses the WebUtil library, so you must make sure have WebUtil correctly configured in the Forms Designer, as well as on your application server.
Hope this helps,

How can we export itno csv data file for oracle forms
Hello
How can we export itno csv data file for oracle forms
For example. I have the block called A.what never the data displayed on a block, when I click on a button, displays the block data, must be exported to the csv file.
My application is running on the unix operating system.
Please help on this.
First of all. What is your version of forms (for example: 11.1.2.2.0 not 11g). Finally, who will use the .csv file? If it is a user on their client computer - CLIENT_TEXT_IO TEXT_IO or WebUtil are standard packages used to export data to a file of Oracle Forms.
The amount of data to be exported? If you export only a couple hundred lines - export of Froms will be OK. If you export more lines than that (300 + lines) then the export will be extremely slow to your username. Keep in mind that forms is not designed to perform data exports - there are better tools available for this...

Create the form for enrty of data such as oracle forms tabular block by ADF Table!
Hi guru and Experts
I need some solutions for Oracle JDeveloper11g which is very essential for me.
+ Q1. Is it possible to create a form master detail which block detailed will be a tabular as like oracle forms . If possible I such example? +
Q2. How can I create a preview to the point like oracle forms overview at the point of tables?
Q3. How can I add LOV/list items / check for a table/table column?
Q4. If it is possible to insert a new record in the table of the ADF, so I need to save all your data by pressing a key SAVE event
I wish you all already taken I want developed. Please give me a better solution.
Thank you.
Zed
====A correction to the above – if you want the table to be modified/inserted you cannot drag and drop as a master-detail, because the detail will be in read only mode.
Instead first drag the captain and drop as a form of ADF
Then, drag the details below and drop it as Table of ADF.You can drag since the operations node in the data control the operation createInsert to add a button that will add a new empty row to the table.

Rename the file in Oracle Forms before copy on another drive
Dear all seniors
I want to ask how to rename file before copying it to another drive.
In fact when we get the drive to open file then it this time before copy I want to rename it.

DECLARE
filename VARCHAR2 (500);

READ_IMAGE_FILE (filename, 'None', 'IMAGE6');

Change the line above with the following line. He renames as copy.HOST ('xcopy "'|| filename ||'" \\172.172.0.4\Combo_pic\'||:EMP_CODE||'.jpg',no_screen); ---here EMP_CODE is a column value.
Above code renames in emp_code value.
I hope this works...

Why is the number of e/s so close to the number of blocks?
Am I missing something here?
Thanks for your help
The column entitled "bed" is the number of blocks read, not the number of read requests.

How to import data from CSV file in a table using oracle forms
Hello
I have a CSV file and I want to insert in the oracle database in a table by using a button under forms of oracle.
the user can select the CSV file by using the open dialog box.
can someone help me find the method to import and select the client machine file?
THX.You want to import the contents of the file or the file itself? I assume that you want to import the contents of the file. For this, there are really only two options to make an Excel (.csv) file and import into shapes; WebUtil or a JavaBean. Some examples of both:
WebUtil: How to read an Excel file in a form of Oracle
Oracle is CJP/BEAN - project ExcelTry them both and see which works best for you.

Import Excel data into Form Designer
I developed a dynamic form in Livecycle designer that will be sent to hundreds of schools throughout Nebraska. There is a table in this form that has buttons to add or remove a line while dependent students informtion can be entered in this table. How I shape now works perfect for most schools, however; with the largest schools that will enter in over 200 different lines of information, it will be a long unessarily task. Most of these schools already have the information that we solicit in an Excel file. Is it possible for an end user of this form, using the adobe reader software to import excel data into the table?
-Susann Wenzel
It is possible, but you will find may be more difficult than what it's worth.
1. you must manipulate the worksheet to make it look like a DB
2. you must set up an ODBC connection on the system running the form and the worksheet...
3. you would have to change to point to the worksheet from the definition
4. you wish Reader the form using LiveCYcle Reader Extensions to allow the ODBC connection occurs in the drive.

What type of file I use to read a large file of data?
I want to store data in a file and access it later. The data file could reach between 500 and 1000 MB in a binary format.
I might have some memory problems.
I didn't need all of the data in memory, only a few data every time that, for my calculations.
If I use a binary file, I can't read only a few data. I have to load the entire file and then read the data I need.
Is this correct?
If I use another type of file, can I read that a few bytes without loading the entire file?
Maybe a TDMS file?
I would probably use a TDMS file for this because it could also be read in excel if there was enough - just little more flexibility. But you can also do this by using binary types. You don't have to read the entire file when you use binary files. See below.

How to import data from the Excel worksheet file in a table DB using a filebrowse
Hi friends,
Im having a table has with the following columns as
< Li > ID
< Li > Employee_name
< Li > Department
with empty data in it.
Im having an excel sheet that contains the data for the table has for the column ID < Employee_name < Department
If it is possible to import excel data sheet empty table A that I have in the DB using a form of front-end APEX which is having a file navigation item only.
So, if I store that excel sheet using a navigation button in table wwv_flows_files, then automatically all means this sheet file data in the excellent flows_files table must be inserted into the table empty i have.
It is possible to store the data this way using a browse.
Brgds,
MiniHello
If you're on APEX 4.1 create data loading page. Then the end user may download the CSV data to your table.
Excel can be saved in CSV format.Kind regards

Import excel data in oracle tables
Hello gurus,
Importing excel data in oracle tables...
I know it's the most common question on the wire... First, I searched the forum, I found lots of threads with loading data using sqlloader, excellent in conversion. Txt, file delimited by tabs, file .csv etc...
Finally, I was totally confused in terms of how to get there...
Here's wat I
Here's wat I want to do... .i don't know if its possible- Excel file on local computer. - i have laod data into dev environment tables(So no risk involved, but want to try something simple) - Oracle version 11.1.0.7 - Sqlplus and toad (editors)
SQLLOADER could be an option... but I don't want to go the unix server to place files and newspapers and stuff.- Without going to unix server can i do everthing on local system by making use of oracle db and sqlplus or toad
Wat will be the best option and the easiest to do? and wat format better convert excel csv or txt or tab delimited etc...
If you suggest sqlloader, any example of code will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!!!Hello
Toad version 9.0.0.160, you can directly load data excel file (or any other specified) to table using the navigation "database > import > import the data in the table.
You need to connect to the database, then go to the above navigation. Select the table, validation interval (i.e. commit after each record or once all records), map columns in excel file to your table and press ok.
It loads data directly to your table. But, if you use characters multibyte (such as Chinese) in excel file you want to load, then you must make some settings in your machine.
Don't know if its possible in another version of Toad.
Concerning
Imran
