Rebuild Photo Library Package

We have been a long time of iPhotos more user 35 000 photos.  In November, we moved to a new iMac and upgraded to Photos. At the same time, we moved all of our users-files (including photos) on a NAS (Drobo 5N) formatted in FAT32. After several months, it became clear that Photos and FAT32 do not work well together (e.g. photo images streams did not come through). At this point, I decided to try, and the external USB3 drive in the iMac formatted MAC OS.

I tried to copy the package to the library of Photos of NAS to USB3 disk attached to the iMac. It repeatedly failed with the NAS directly connected to the iMac which I believe is the most direct route.  Research online, I saw that under iPhotos, it was possible to open the bag and copy files/folders separately, and then rebuild the package.  It took several days, I finally was able to get all the USB3 drive.  Photos opens and photo stream works perfectly.  I'm now trying to find a way to rebuild photo library on the USB3 drive package.  The function 'Fix the library' (Command-Option) doesn't seem to work (I guess because there is no package to repair).

I have backups from before we moved in Photos and on the NAS

Any thoughts?

Thank you very much!

David.

The function 'Fix the library' (Command-Option) doesn't seem to work (I guess because there is no package to repair).

Did you rename the folder with library copied, after you copied the components more separately?  If you rename the copy, so that the file name extension is ".photoslibrary", it should be recognized as a pictures library package and display the correct Rainbow flower icon.

To repair the library, hold down the option key combination - greet and double click on the library directly, not the Photos app.

To change the file extension name select the library in the Finder and enter ⌘I to open the information panel.  In the file name of the Panel section to disable "Hide extension", then enter the extension changed.

I have an imac with mac sierra.  When I go to system-> Preferences-> icloud and try to choose 'photos', he keeps by unchecking it. no error message. When I opened the photos app and go to Preferences-> iCloud library its selected.

I had which also occur at first. Is photos showing a short message 'check library' before it resets the check mark for iCloud > Photos?

In this case, fix your photo library.  After I fixed the library, it was possible to activate system preferences-> icloud-> Photos.  See this help page: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.2/?lang=en#/pht6be18f93

Important: You must back up your library before repair of your library.

    • If the photo is open, choose Photos > Photos of quit smoking.
    • Press Option-command and double-click on the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or click the Photos icon in the Dock). The library of repair window opens.
    • Click on fix to rebuild your library.

The second problem can also indicate a problem with the library:

under the albums, there is a folder "all photos". Celle one of the high 'photos', seems to have stopped to update, as the choice of background under albums, "all photos" has all the latest photos and continues to update.  Anyone know if this is normal or what is wrong?

Photos seems to be missing in the 'Photos' album, but the power be sorted differently from the album picture all.  Select one of the photos in all the Photos that does not appear in the Photos, ctrl-click and use the command 'display in the moment '.  If she does not appear in the Moments in Photos, fix the library.

  • Cannot restore photo library

A few weeks ago, my 2010 Macbook Pro began to reboot itself every hour approximately. I ended by wiping and restore with my Time Machine on my Time Capsule backup if the problem was still there.

My second option was to back up all my files to another disk, then restore again, with a clean slate with my important files. However, when I imported my 80 GB library of Photos (Photos Library.photoslibrary file), it is said there are only 358 photos, not the 20,000 or that I know that I have. I did this once before where all I have to do is select the photo library file in the app Photos and Walla! I have all my photos. It did not work this time.

I tried to restore it with the Time Machine backup again if she has the same problem (only shows 358 images). Currently, I'm sitting with a new installation of El Capitan and a 80 GB Photo file. What can I do to fix this?

    Already tried:

    -Repair of the photo library

    -Reboot Macbook

    -New installation of El Capitan

-Using an older photo library file saved in my Time Capsule

-Upgrade to Mac OS Sierra because why not try when you're desperate?

Any ideas/solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this. My photo library dates back to 1997, so anything will help.

My second option was to back up all my files to another drive, and then restore again,

How the DHM has been formatted and connected to your Mac.  It must be formatted as shown in this screenshot and connected by cable:

One thing you can do is to open the restored library package

and look in the folder of masters to see if your original files are there or you have the 358 Photos or if you have all of them.  Do not make changes, just watch and get an idea whether they are there or not.

  • After recovering to the photo library, it downloads all the images once more

    Hello

I had a problem with my external hard drive and to wipe and transfer all the data from my backup drive. I also store my library of photos on my external hard drive. After having successfully copied library hard disk, now (at the opening of the photos) tries to download all the photos again to the cloud. Now, he began to create duplicates in my library as well as in the cloud. It's super annoying. Apple really has no idea how to deal with their cloud services.

Is there a way to say the photos that all pictures are already online, as well as locally? I mean, no not all images have a unique identifier?

    Thanks for any help guys!

    Marco

It should not create duplicates - where you see there duplicates?

Whenever you change the libraries of Photos, move a library or rebuild a library to download again to verify that the synchronization is correct

Is there a way to say the photos that all pictures are already online, as well as locally? I mean, no not all images have a unique identifier?

That's exactly what is happening - to see if the photo is available online, it is to download it and check

  • Photo library

Pictures location on a MAC now? Since the software completely useless 'photos' was created, it took control of my pictures and I can access is no longer the files into other applications. Why am I not in the control of this machine more?

Can someone tell me please how to find my photo library, as I have digital pictures that I can copy is no longer 13-year return

    top or insert into documents.

very simple, in fact trivial and exactly the same as the only methods supported for more than eight years since at least iPhoto ' 08 - documented here - How do I access the files in iPhoto - either:

1 - Use the media browser in each download/tie/open window in the source pane left down under Support == > photos == > Photos, or

2 - Select the photos and export (menu, file == > export- export of iPhoto ) to a folder on the desktop and use there

and support us is as simple as plugging a properly formatted external hard drive and the launch of TimeMachine

The fact that you don't know how to use a package and not taken the trouble to learn how certainly does not worthless - a crazy statement - amazing that since 13 years you have not learned the simple things

  • I lost "photo library", how do I restore it?

I just tried to open the application 'Photos' (or icon) on my Mac and received a message that says "Photos could not find the system 'photos library.photoslibrary' how can I do to recover it?  I have about 10,000 photos which are lost!   I run a separate hard disk as a time machine which is connected permanently, but I've never had to use it before.  Any help would be appreciated.   Mike George

Photos first launch with down option and check to see if there is more than one library in the open window:

If it is not shown it follow these steps:

Download and run to find any file to search for a file named "historicalmarker.plist" in the name of the file. It is a file that is found only in the library of Photos.

FAF can find areas that Spotlight can not as invisible folders, system folders and packages. If there is a library of pictures hidden somewhere on your harddrive FAF will find.

Finally, if you still can't find the library, go to your pictures folder and launch Time Machine.  Go back until you see the library of Photos in the pictures folder.  Select it and use the restore button:

  • ICloud photo library - double images and memory iPhone 5 c problem

    Hello

After months of deliberation, I decided to convert my Aperture on Mac in photo library and link the family three iPads and my iPhone to iCloud photos. I made sure all software updates have been installed on all devices, including the Mac. After 22 days of continuous download, I have now all the pictures in the clouds!

However I have 2 problems. My 30 k + original images expanded to 40 k + with thousands of duplicates and my iPhone 5 c memory (8 GB - what a mistake!) is now full and I cannot take photos more or update applications on it. I guess that duplicates are albums on iPads.

Before I converted, I checked and the documentation stated that the Photos would be recognition of duplicates and not replicate in the cloud. I also checked the box to optimize the images on my iPad and iPhone not realizing that even with the optimization of the paltry memory on the 5 c would be totally inadequate - the iPad is very good.

Now I have more documented and install PhotoSweeper on the Mac seems a possible solution to the problem in double - the alternative is to go through each image!

Re the problem of the iPhone, the only solution I see is to stop the iCloud photo library on the phone and then remove the images on the phone. Who will free the memory, and I will then be able to take pictures I have to take pictures by other means. It's not ideal for a functioning flawlessly, but when my contract is up this summer the next phone will be a greater amount of memory and hope it will be seamless!

Any advice please before going further?

Photo Sweeper is a good package and works well and is course - so are duplicate Annihilator for Photos and PowerPhotos

You could try turning off ICPL on the small phone, cleaning of duplicates and leaving all s = complete uploads and downloads and stabilize and they new the on with photos on the iPhone - optimized it can handle then - worth a try

  • Photos referenced in the photo library are in the iPhoto library

I have 26 pictures in my library of Photos that are referenced photos. I want to collect my library of Photos. However, when I try to do it says Photos that I need to allow it for the folder that contains these 26 photos. Unfortunately, this folder is inside my old library iPhotos, which is a package and therefore cannot be accessed via the dialog window Photos gives me.

I tried to find 26 photos manually via the Finder via "Show package content", but I can't find them. A Spotlight search did not help either.

Does anyone know how add these 26 photos referenced in my photo library.

The strange thing is all the other photos (over 7,000) migrated my iPhotos library my library of Photos with no problems.

I have 26 pictures in my library of Photos that are referenced photos. I want to collect my library of Photos.

Have you tried to select the photos referenced in Photos and then use the command "file > consolidate?  To copy the original image files referenced in the photo library and making photos managed them.

What happens when you try?  I see that sign.

  • Share photos added to the photo library via the menu are not visible on the Photos

    Hello

I started using DxO OpticsPro 10 to process Raw files. When I used the share menu in this application to "Add photo" pictures are exported but not visible in the Photos app. I see that they are in the photo library (Show Package Contents > Masters), but they are not visible in the Photos in the Photos app. However if I use "Export to Application" instead of "Add photo" in DxO OpticsPro the Photos app opens and the image is visible.

You can't always do and changes directly to the photo library - you must use the program of Photos to import photos - adding photos to the library has no positive effect (and may even cause problems)

  • iCloud Photo library of backup hard disk external

Assuming that you don't use referenced files, copy & paste "Library.photoslibrary Photos" package to a hard external lead backup all my pictures in Photos? If I open this file on another computer, I will be able to access my photos?

Assuming that you don't use referenced files, copy & paste "Library.photoslibrary Photos" package to a hard external lead backup all my pictures in Photos?

Yes, you can simply drag and drop the photo library on an external drive.

But make sure, that the file system of the disk is Mac OS extended (journaled).  Otherwise, you may experience problems with errors in the file. (such as described here for Aperture: using Mac OS X extended, for your Aperture library locally mounted volumes)

Turn the meter of "Ignore ownership on this volume" for the external drive, if you want to open the library of another Mac.

If I open this file on another computer, I will be able to access my photos?

Yes, if the first mac has the same version of Mac OS X installed. Versions of Photos must be the same.

Using iCloud photo library? In this case depends on your preferences to "Optimize Mac Storage".  Optimize Mac storage' active your original photos will be in iCloud and not on your Mac and not copy on the external drive.  "Then you will need to disable optimize Mac storage" and wait for your photos to download before copying the library.

  • How to clean Install - photo library

    Hello.

My software installation appears to be the culprit in some things that happens with my Mac. A clean installation seems to be asked - but I am concerned about the Photos.

On a lightning drive, I dragged the package more (minus 40 GB). But it took a lot of time copying - less than an hour.

I synchronize with iCloud photo library of Photos on my Mac. I run also two Time Machine disks.

What I do not know if it would be better to put my data on the own Mac newly installed among readers and place then a version of my pictures of my drive on the newly installed software or activate an empty library and download icloud on Photos.

Which would give me the less convoluted version of my library of Photos to reintroduce? I won't be able to use Time Machine as a RESTORATION because I don't want to reintroduce the other problems.

Nothing is more important to me than these photos and videos of my son's life.

What is the safest and most secure solution?

Thank you all for the continued support.

  • Photos Photos-library refer to iPhoto Library

    Hello

I have a huge problem. Long ago, I migrated to the Photos.

Now, I realized that many of my Photos in my photo library are only references to my iPhoto library that no longer exists.

But there are no Photos in my Photo folder (I can find them via "show package-contest" in the finder)

So there are a lot of pictures, showing in my photo library, but the reference to the original file is in the folder/library-iPhoto-rather to the pictures library folder where the file exists. This causes an error message when I try to do something with the Photo that is referenced.

How can I fix? I always tried to repair my library with no result.

The attached Message is German. But it shows, Photos trying to find several Photos in:

    / Volumes/Macdata/Pictures/iPhotoMediathek...

    Instead of:

    / Volumes/MacData/pictures/Fotos- Mediathek...

where the Photos exist. In my Fotos-Mediathek there is a folder called/2014/12/30, and there are Photos!

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Kwicks

Copy the Masters record photos in your photo library to a record Volumes/Mac data/Pictures/iPhoto-MediathekXXX/masters...

Once you have copied the folder there, rename/iphoto iPhoto-MediathekXXX - medial.photolibrary.

So try, if Photos can now find the originals it. T it?

  • Incomplete miniature view of the blackBerry Smartphones photo library

    Hello
I copied a load of photos from my laptop on my memory card but when I put in the phone (Bold 9780) new photos are not displayed in the photos app.
This could be due to the postage stamp (suppose BBThumbs.dat) file in the folder still only data for files that were taken direct on the phone? If so, how can I force the system to rebuild.
If this is not the case, how to actually do the phone re-scan the file to rebuild the library and show all that?
    Help!

Normally, if you make a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with the phone smart BlackBerry power, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart, the device will rescan and rebuild thumbnails and cache.

Try it again once if you already have.

  • IMPORT EXISTING 'Photo library'

LightroomCC just purchased/installed on Mac with the latest version of OSX El Capitan. I already have an existing 'Photo' library on my folder on the drive hard 'photos '.

I need to 'import' these pictures in the Lr catalog but the file > plugin route does not work as my library's picture not iPhoto!

Tried to use the import pane, followed by player > user > pictures but the library does not appear in the list of content in the images, even if it is there through the Finder. There is, as I can still use it.

I just want to fill the catalogue with existing photographs.

    Any thoughts?

I'm not a geek, but used the opening for many years.

You mean Photos Apple (S at the end).

You must copy, maybe move, the Masters folder in the package folder Photos Library.library to another folder on your hard drive. Then you can import them into LR.

None of the changes you have made in Photos Apple will be included, but at least you'll have your images in a program that does not take full control of their.

To access this folder of masters, you will need to right-click on this package of library and select to display the contents of the package. It will then develop in a few other cases being the masters record. Just copy/move it to another folder you create on your drive.
