Often, but not always, the symptoms you describe are caused by a corrupt print job stuck in the queue or a damaged printer driver.  However before you clean things up, on general principles, that you can download, install, update and run full scans with each of these two free programs:

    AntiMailware MalwareBytes
    SUPERAntiSpyware

Do not operate the two scans simultaneously.  Each will take a long time, so start it and then go do something else for a while.

NOTE: If after completing step has the print spooler is not always running after you launched the command "net start spooler", you will not be able to follow all the steps in "First Article".  Instead, go to the other link and download and get and use the utility 'cleanspl' such as described here.

    • The version of Windows you have, including service pack (start > run > winver > OK)
    • The brand and model of printer you have (includes the manufacturer, model and model number, as in HP Deskjet 6800)
    • How the printer is connected to the computer (parallel, USB, network, wireless, etc.).

  • Black screen "service has not been started" error 0 x 80070426

When I try to boot my system an error code is 0x80070426... then I try to make an order under cmd.exe with net start slsvc and get another error code 57346... so I tried to go into services.msc with software licenses and that doesn't work either I am so confused what to do. All this started because I did an update from microsoft last night.

    Hi ercamoo,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

I suggest you try to validate your Windows license. Visit this link:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/genuine/

If you are unable to validate your copy of Windows, then check the drive for errors.

Follow these steps to check a drive for errors:

    1. open the computer by clicking the Start button, click computer.

    2. click on the drive you want to check, and then click Properties.

    3. click on the Tools tab and then, under check for errors, click Find now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or
    provide confirmation.

To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will report problems but
    not to fix them.

To perform a thorough check, select search and attempt to recover bad sectors. This analysis tries to find and repair physical errors on the disk itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

To check for errors file and the physical errors, select both automatically fix errors in file system and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

    4. click on start.

Check this link for more information:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors

After checking the disk for errors, repeat the validation process.

Let us know if it helps.

Original title: printer all-in-one Brother MFC-7860DW after Windows update problem

Shortly after that I installed an update through Windows for my Brother multifunction printer, I could not scan documents to my printer wireless to my Toshiba laptop.  I got an error message saying "MFC-7860DW LAN is not found."  Yet the wireless connection between the printer and the router is fine, and I can print from my computer very well also.  I did this for a long time so I have something had happened recently.  The update was allegedly from brother.  I spoke with the brother support and they gave me a way to scan the computer using Windows Fax & scan, but I really need to be able to make it from the printer itself.

I have reset the PC to a restore point before that I did the update of Windows, and I uninstalled and reinstalled the software of the printer 3 times, including the connection with the wireless system, all without effect.  When I check the Brother Installation Diagnostics file, it shows that the scanner driver has no installation and connection.  All the other drivers installed correctly.

Any ideas how to install my scanner driver?  Thank you!

  • The error that says "this application has failed to start because sqlite3.dll (also sqlite3.prepare.v2) was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

These messages appear, one after another, at startup.

Something you have running at Windows startup that uses SQLite is a failure. Find out what this program is (so you can stop it) by managing your Startup:

Start > run > msconfig [Enter]

This will open the System Configuration utility. Look under the Startup tab and find the likely culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, apply and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but next time you do, you will get a dialog box saying that you have used the utility. Just check the box that says in effect, "don't mind to this subject again".

Important - do not use the System Configuration utility to stop the process. Use rather Start > Run > services.msc [Enter] and stop all services unless you really, really know what you're doing.

  • During the installation of a program, receive the error message that Windows Installer is not installed properly on Vista

I tried to install a program and I got an error message that says "Windows Installer" is not installed correctly and I need to contact the support staff.  I get also a message when I log that says steetings.ini is occupied by another program and it will not allow the sidebar to come.

Try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to troubleshoot the problem with Windows Installer:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml.

For the issue of the Sidebar, do a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

    I hope this helps.
