Receiver 0x800cc78 on Outlook Express

HI, I have the same problem.  When I followed your link, there is no published offers. When I do a search on this links page, it brings back me to this forum.

Outlook Express 6 with 0x800cc78 error code

A google search says it was a mistake to register.  But there is nothing on the page Mircosoft.com either.

Help if possible

Dee

Note that the thread is a year old.  At the time when it was created, the two Chris_P.  and me am referenced websites that existed at the time.  Since then, these sites have moved.

Notice, too, that this thread is on the networks on Windows 7.  Therefore, questions about Outlook Express, which runs only on Windows XP and earlier versions, are off-topic.  The desired forum is http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-networking/.  I've separated your message from the old thread and made a thread on its own in the appropriate forum.

One last comment: Please check again the error code.  Error codes such as trying to describe contain eight hexadecimal characters after the '0 x '.  You included only seven, that in fact there is not an error.  Update your message to include a valid error code.

Assuming a simple typo, I suspect that your error code is 0x800ccc78.  If this is the case, please see the following:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310876

You can also check out some of the many other threads that mention this error:

Recently (for the first time) I consulted my ISP mail service. Since then, I have been unable to receive messages in Outlook Express, even if I can send them. If all worked correctly before you enter you e-mail service so I guess that it s a virus or a malware application.

Your Inbox may be altered.  Go to file | Identities and set up a new identity and add your email account and see if it works.  If Yes, then you can try to import older identity, but you may need a program to extract messages otherwise (see www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/).  You should not ignore the request to compact the database messages, like at the time, the Inbox and other folders get corrupted and you lose messages - see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 .

I can send and receive Outlook e-mail messages and can send emails on Outlook Express, but cannot receive them on Outlook Express. Get the 0x800C0133 error message number.   Problem seems to be with the program Outlook Express and think I need to reinstall.  How do you do that?
    Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.

Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  • e-mail receiver problem in outlook Express.

I have geniune Microsoft Xp Professional Service Pack 2. Now, when you use Outlook Express, I am able to send and receive and my mail is downloading also it shows there are new messages in the Inbox that is unread but you know that I am not able to find that the messages exactly where this is going. I am not able to see my new messages arrived in my email... So, dear Sir, I want the solution for this. Looking forward for your positive response as soon as possible. my email is "* address email is removed from private life." Confirm to me

Make sure that when you are in the Inbox that you saw. Current view | Show all messages checked and do not check the chat messages.  Then see if the messages.  Also check other folders and see if the messages are transferred to other folders.  Message rules to do this.

Otherwise, you may have a corrupt message store.  Then go to file | Identities and setup a new identity.  Then add your email account and see if there is a problem then.  If it works fine, then go to file | Import | Messages to get the messages from the old identity.

Also, be aware that antivirus software can interfere with the functionality of the ENP.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

And it would be wise to upgrade to SP3 of XP.

    Outlook Express on windows xp

    Hi plf816,

    1. When did you start to question?

    2. you will remember to do recent changes on the computer before this problem?

    3. do you receive error messages when receiving emails?

You can temporarily disable a security software and firewall installed on the system and check if the problem persists.

Note: Be sure to enable the security software and firewall on the computer after checking.

    Hope this information is useful.
