  There are three updates that I tried to install using Windows Update...

  KB2284742, KB2249857, KB2388210

  These three are recent updates and all three fail with 800700c error code 1.

  I tried different things fix this... Fixit of Microsofts utility, System Update Readiness Tool, update windows update.

  I downloaded the stand alone Setup program will install the packages for each KB article, but non of them. None work with this same error code.

  I tried, as suggested by a MVP, try to install the stand-alone packages in Mode without failure. It wouldn't work because the service has not been started.

  I'm out of ideas... any suggestions as to how to proceed from here.

  It seems that Windows Update will be always updated, patches for Windows KB947821 was installed here where the others have failed.

  However, I have read somewhere in my search for a solution to this problem that a repair installation will not solve this problem. I think I'll just bite the bullet and due to a relocation complete Windows 7.
