  Landfills, essentially using the trunk and may not be discussed in instances of VMware. If you took the course and prepare all the documents indicated in the management plan and installation - most important - a small lab, you should be able to prepare for the exam.

• Passed the VCP exam today, now what that?

  I took the VCP exam today and passed with an even 300. What happens then? Should I wait for VMware to match my training in my review? Y at - it any action required on my part?

  Yes, under the myTasks section you will see the article "VCP on vSphere4" appears with a list of things to do.

  I believe you can pass the test, but you will not be recognized as a PCV until all the prereqrisites have been met.

• 5 VCP exam preparation

  I registered for the exam of secure Channel 5 next month, then to VMworld in Las Vegas.

  To prepare for the review, I have the following plan:

  Use 5 TrainSignal vSphere training

  Reading of VMware vSphere 5 technical Deepdive of Clustering by Duncan Epping and Frank Denneman

  Read Mastering VMware vSphere 5 by Scott Lowe

  Read all the official docs VMware

  Scroll through all the objectives of the action plan and take notes / examples for each

  Unfortunately, I have not access to a vSphere fully licensed environment.  I have to virtualize everything in my lab at home and have no SAN.

  This sounds like a viable plan to study?  That anyone would recommend to add on top of what I have so far?

  I guess that you have finished any vSphere training requirement to qualify for certification?

  I focus mainly on the action plan, the official documentation and use all these other resources as a reference in case you do not understand something, or in the case of the TrainSignal of videos you want to watch something happen.

  I would recommend getting as much practical as you can - your virtual lab can operate in up to 60 days trial mode and can always include a shared storage as a virtual machine running as a target (OpenFiler) iSCSI or NFS share (FreeNAS), allowing you to configure and test the vMotion, HA, DRS for example.

  I am very familiar with Microsoft exams, but none to familiarize with the secure Channel track.

  I'm new to VMware and spin a succession 4.1 with 12 guests. I did a lot of self-study, but want to progress to become certified. I heard I should do a course in class, too, can someone please advise on the way forward.

  I am preparing to secure Channel (VCP5-VTC) review and wanted to ask if there are restrictions to take the authorized class after the test is successful. With the rumor update for version 5.5, I wanted to make sure that I don't have to re - take the exam when the 5.5 classes and exams will be available. I'm planning to take the exam this month and attending the class some time in 2014.

  You can go ahead and follow the course of 5.1 and certification. That review is has not been updated but AFAIK.

• Email address for registered VCP exam

  I'm having a little panic here, I just finished the course to manage install them & configure vmware official but as paid during the registered e-mail address at my work was my work email. When I connect to the vmware training section with my ID from vmware who gave me on the course it shows my work e-mail address

  I booked the review now, but I just noticed that I booked the exam with Pearson VIEW under my email address personal googlemail. I've heard horror stories of people completed the exam but never received the official Qualification.

  Will I have any problems here, or I need to change the email address on my account from Pearson view to my email works? Or is it too late?

  Hi Chris,

  You are right that it is preferable that if e-mail addresses corresponding to registering for courses and registration to review, it makes it easier for VMware to match two records in the respective databases and receive you certification. You can update your e-mail address with Pearson view, but you don't want to just take the exam or if the corresponding recording process happens automatically, you may need to contact the Certification team via [email protected] - give them as much information as possible about your courses and exams and that should be enough.

• VCP exam question - the difference between the file exchange and the swap partition?

  I am currently a student at my VCP and stumbled upon a question and was hoping someone could explain the answer offered.  Essentially the question is asking why you must manually create a local VMFS volume.  The possible answers were: files of storage for the service console log, decentralized storage for all the vmkernel vmkernel swap activity Exchange files for virtual machines that are configured locally and swap files from service console for the console service RAM overcommitment.

  It is my understanding that the swap partition has its own format.  When you create the necessary partitions for installing ESX format the swap partition is 'swap', not vmfs or ext - 3.  Then, because the last three options are to swap/activity files, I chose the first choice, storage for the service console logs.  This study guide says I'm wrong and the answer is VMKernel swap files for virtual machines that are configured locally.   Of course, Miss me something here...

  How you store Exchange files on VMFS partition?  I thought that the swap partition is the only place to have to Exchange files, and then it is on its own partition.  You cannot store a partition on a partition.

  Maybe it's the difference between a swap file and a swap partition which is tripping me?

  Search for, swap space as it is usually is a place to store a replica of memory the system for the purpose of managing memory better (usually data that are accessed most often).

  SWAP PARTITION is now, for the ESX SWAP space.

  And the EXCHANGE FILE is for some particular VM swap space that can be used by the guest operating system. The use of this file is managed by VMkernel. Now, this swap file has some different features from the windows of i.e normal swap, linux or ESX swap space space.

• Failed my VCP exam.  Barely

  Man am I disappointed. I used VI3 to previous work in the past and love it. I took the C class last week, and then I studied all my notes, the Administrator's Guide, the guide VCB & an exam cram book. I took many mock reviews. I scored even 85% on the official simulacrum of VMware. But, wow! To my surprise, I have sat the test this morning and felt like I was in another world with my questions being to me. The model has been COMPLETELY different than the real test and made me feel ready when I wasn't really.

  (without being too specific) Is what color? How this or that interact on multiple data centers? What does a red (blah blah blah) what this means, what's this doing? Oh and I especially liked how he was a test VI3, and one wonders in comparison to VI2.5 including the sale of information and issues ACE as well. What DO I mean? None of this has been discussed in class, and I saw nothing of all this in documentation.

  What hurts the most is that I really know this product well enough and felt really prepared before you go. Don't free resume, without Live online demos.

  So my question is ' where was this info?  And how do I me hands on being unemployed at home with a system that can't run ESX?

  Sorry to hear that. My suggestion is to read the action plan very carefully. See "config max" a few times and read the guide to management of resources several times.
