  Photoshop requires at least version 8.4 of camera raw to be able to directly open these Nikon NEF D4S files which is available in Photoshop CS6 and above versions (not in CS5)

  You can upgrade to a higher version of Photoshop or download Adobe DNG converter to convert raw files to DNG and access these DNG files in Photoshop CS5.

  Have you used the Nikon transfer software or view these files? On some devices it has corrupt files so PS can not open them.

  The D750 is much too recent for Lightroom 3, so there is no way to directly import the NEF files.

  You have 2 choices:

  1. Purchase Lightroom 6/Lightroom CC
  2. convert the NEF files to DNG using the FREE Adobe DNG Converter (8.7 or later), then import the DNG in Lightroom 3

• Photoshop elements 13 does not support for the Nikon D750 NEF files

  I just bought a Nikon D750 (July) and I am running a trial of Photoshop elements 13 for quick treatment, but even after the updates and updated RAW it will not open the NEF files, which is supposed to be supported?

  Thanks for your reply, I discovered the problem and it was an older version of Nikon Transfer installed, used with the old camera, updated for Nikon NX - i with Nikon Transfer 2 built in and the files are now transferred to the computer correctly.

• Photoshop CS6 isn't recognizing the Nikon D4S raw file.

  Just picked up the Nikon D4S, took some shots to Acclimate and glad I did. When I downloaded my PS program says, "Camera Raw can not open this file."  I got the same message when I tried to edit an old picture of my Nikon D300S.

  Can anyone help? I think I have the most up to date Camera Raw.

  I have the camera Raw 8.1. I found that I needed 8.4, so I downloaded the 8.4 converter plug in and I was able to open the images. However, I had to pass through a few stages & of waiting for files to be converted in a dng file. I hope I don't have to go through these steps every time? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  Hi, ATR, just for you say, my firewall etc is managed by software Norton anti-virus, the reason why I could not update was the firewall, entered the firewall of windows 8 and found a facility to allow applications through firewall he, Adobe was not one of them, so I just added 13 elements Adobe and hey presto it allowed me to do all the necessary updates , I now camera raw 8.7 update on 13 items.

  Cannot open the D750 files in Lightroom 4.4. You need at least 5.7 Lightroom to open these RAW files.

  If they open up fine on a computer, then it has no 4.4 Lightroom, there a later version.

  The D300 is supported in CS3.  The latest version of Camera Raw compatible with CS3 is 4.6.  If you have installed correctly, you should have no problem.  Your camera has been supported in at least one previous version, I don't check real closely.  But you need to install and use 4.6.
