  With luck, if you open hearing and go in Edit/Audio Hardware Setup, you should find the drivers for your pre amp and preamp itself on the appropriate lists.  Select them, and then when you press the Red record button (and select the settings you want) you should record.

  You will certainly find that you open a form any software mixer outside the hearing to adjust sound levels appropriate for recording.

  I solved the problem mainly by using a preamp, instead of just using the sound card of the computer with phantom power for condenser microphone.

• Adobe Audition 2.0 Windows 7 compatibility

  I have a new computer with Windows 7 and installed Adobe Audition 2.0.  I can not access the Windows Recording Mixer at the hearing.  It says cannot find the program mix ' sndvol32/r' and that a replacement mixer applet can be specified in the registry.  I'm not too smart about this stuff, so I am totally cofused.  Does this mean 2.0 is not compatible with Windows 7?  I get comments when I have the pot to the top of the audio.

  I had installed on my previous computer (XP) hearing and had no problems at all.  Does anyone know if / what are compatibility issues with Audition 2.0 and Windows 7?

  But to answer your question. Only Adobe Audition 3.0 is listed as compatible with Windows 7.
  Adobe Audition 3.0 is for Windows XP and Windows Vista.

  However, I suggest that you try and install in compatibility mode:
  Sometimes a program will install, but no functionality is present when the program is not compatible.

  If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

  Use the following steps:

  (1) right click on the program

  2) click Properties

  3) click on the Compatibility tab

  (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

• Edit in Adobe Audition - not replaced

  Hello!

  I have a stand up interview, whose sound is recorded with the video from a dslr t5 built in mic on the camera. The audio should be cleaned up a bit.

  I recently discovered on the 'Edit in Adobe Audition' command (Edit > Adit in Adobe Audition > Clip) when I select the video file in the project Panel. It extracts the audio for me to play in Adobe Audition. I can see the first one to put the audio clip, but doesn't replace the original sound of the clip of film T5 with my changes in hearing. So everything that I have made in the hearing, the T5 is still with its original source.

  Is this a bug or am I missing something?

  Hearing is always a destructive Editor, which means that it changes constantly from the original.  Premiere Pro (like any good editing software) is a not- destructive of the editor, which means that it only reads the original media, and if you want to save your changes, you must export, thus creating a new file.

  So luckily no... There is no way for PP to replace the original sound without creating a new file.

  To get what you want here (what we all need here), hearing must also be a non-destructive Editor, is to work with metadata and asking the user to export a new file to save the changes.  The ideal scene would be to send the clip or sequence of PP at the hearing, without making new audio files.  Hearing would read the original media, like the PP and save all it's labor in the form of metadata, which can PP then read and addresses when moving back for further work.  Only for export would be audio changes in hearing be 'cooked' in a new file.  (Or when creating Audio Previews, audio effects that cannot be processed in real time).

  It's really the only way that hearing can be truly integrated as part of the suite.  Without this workflow metadata, we will not overcome the current limitations of a destructive editor in what should be a workflow purely not destructive from end to end.

  So please, tell Adobe you want Audition to become a non-destructive Editor, forcing the user to export (either from hearing directly or PP later) for changes 'stick '.

  Are there effects on Adobe Audition which will make the song or instrumental play with much better quality?

  I'm going to guess that when you say static, you hear a constant hissing sound (what we would call 'noise').

  If that's the case then the process of noise reduction under the effects/reduction of the noise and the restoration is probably what you are after.  He can't find a sample of only static with no music to get a sample of noise however.  I suggest also that you do not use the default values - rather down the fader to about 20% noise reduction and the amount of reduction up to 10 or 15 dB.  Then make the effect 3 or 4 times, increasing the size of the FFT (in the Advanced menu) and get a noise new printing between each pass.

  However, I must say that this should be a fallback for emergency only - you are better to do some testing to find what part of your string of recording is causing static electricity and repair or replace that.

  If this isn't the sound of hissing and emrecs is right on the cutting/distortion, then frankly there is not much you can do about it.

  You mention DVD in your question... you're not by chance trying to burn on a DVD Rom are you?

  Hearing can only burn audio CDs (not date of CD or DVD) and therefore requires a CD media.

• Save YouTube? Mac (Capitan) and Adobe Audition

  I have a Mac, OS ElCapitan and Adobe Audition CC (2015.0). I need to recover some soundbite of public domain for a project. Any ideas how to do this? I have also a Pro 14 Focusrite and a Focusrite ISA a preamp.

  Don't know much about sound cards, or how to get the sound to Adobe to record. The Mac is already run via FireWire, so everything is played through my encrypted Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 (headphone and monitor speakers) I could just play and record, any ideas?

  Rather than save the clips from YouTube in real time, why not pull down the hosted file and extract the audio track? On a Mac, you can use something like Downie to get to the bottom of the file. Then use QT 7 to select the audio track and extract it.

  Otherwise you can use Audio Hijack from Rogue Amoeba to easily record the clip in real time without bothering with something like Soundflower.

  Once you have the audio, you can take in hearing and move forward...

• Adobe Audition CC & USB MiC peak

  I use CC hearing and connected my microphone USB MiC peak and saved directly in the hearing and was able to hear me, while I was recording.

  Next time I used hearing, he could not hear me while recording but could hear playback via the headset - no changes were made to the program between the two events. I made sure in preferences, hardware Audio MiC was in "Input" and "Master", but I couldn't change the output. I tried several times and spent a total of 4 hours trying to figure this - 2 hours were with Adobe Chat and phone support (they took the screen remotely) without success. Although help people were polite, I think that they are not sufficiently trained to help at least with this problem. I also tried the Midi Setup, and it was a no go as well.

  Thanks - that helped, there is still time of latency, but I think I can make it work. I would like to know how to operate in the Waveform Editor just as it did before if.

  I'm afraid that you do not find what does not exist. What you try to do, is like trying to unbake a cake. You have mixed the ingredients and put them in the oven – this changes and binds their relationship permanently. Exactly the same happens with the reverberant sound in a room. The reverberated sound mixes with the sound direct and all simply not be mixed again. There are apparently a few algorithms around this trial to mitigate the effects of this - which is a bit like trying to isolate one of the ingredients baked in the cake and destroy it. But as Bob says, you end up destroying other parts of your cake in the process, effectively making it inedible.

  This has nothing to do with the settings of the hearing - but everything to do with how you set up the microphone (it sounds to hand) and the room you save in.

  You have the microphone on a stand, with a sort of pop filter between you and him, and it takes about 20cm (8 inches) away from him when you talk. And ideally, you should be in a room that does not have bare walls. If you are in a typical living room, then you must do things like closing the curtains (naked glass is not good) and maybe set up some other kinds of curtains near any other naked walls that you can't avoid.

  All that happens with the walls is that they capture the sound of your voice and reflect it in the microphone, with a slight delay - it's the echo you can hear.

  There is no way around that - it is a problem that you have to correct it at the source - the room check-in. It makes no difference that you could have done.

• Unable to connect to Adobe Audition (2015) through Captivate

  When creating videos in captivate I edit audio by hearing. I would usually clicking on the button in the function of audio editing Adobe captivate "Adobe Audition". After an upgrade to Adobe Audition CC 2015, it comes up with the message "Found no support for Adobe Audition version"
