Records MPEG4 and Media Center Extenders

Comcast told me hat they will use MPEG4 for HD channels.  I use an InfintiTV tuner and checked with them to see if there are problems there.  The response below indicates the only question of the reason could be to try to watch shows recorded on the extensions.  That is the case, and if so, are there patches?  In addition, it seems that I need to understand my Media Center/Codex if / MPEG4 compatible graphics card - how to makes?

Hi Rick,

You should be fine. The InfiniTV isn't a video device, so it will decode ever any video, nor does care what is in the flow of the cable company its passage all Windows. However, Media Center/Codex / graphics card must support all MPEG4. Media Center supports MPEG4; but can't stand does not send protected content MPEG4 for MC Extenders. There are some little quirks like this arise, Microsoft may or may not trouble and/or add support in situations like this.

Hello

Please contact Microsoft Community.

I want to tell you that as with reason informed by Infiniti TV Media center supports mpeg4, however we do not support the protected content. For compatibility with graphics cards, you need to contact the manufacturer and Codex I suggest you use your favorite search engine.

Will be windows media center recording a first HDHomeRun in "sleep" or hibernation mode?

    Hey, Logan,

Windows Media Center records the first home run HD programs or any which TV tuner installed. However, you may need to follow a few rules.

-If you turn off your computer, Windows Media Center does not have a regular program. The computer must be turned on or "standby mode" to record a television show. The computer will not automatically in standby mode if Windows Media Center is open.

-Make sure that you turn off the screen and lower or turn off the sound if you have one at the request of a record in the middle of the night and don't want to be disturbed.

-Your scheduled recording may not save in the following situation: schedule you a recording in Windows Media Center to start in less than ten minutes, close Windows Media Center and put your computer into standby or hibernation mode immediately. Use or one of the following options to save your record programmed:

    a. do not close Windows Media Center before you put your computer on standby or hibernation.
    b. after having programmed a recording, wait a minute before you put the computer in standby or hibernation.

How to play files .srt with the movie files from MCE connected to Windows 7?

Standard DVD settings do not appear in the Extenders to select subtitles, and I mainly .avi.

    Thank you.

    Hello jackdidit3,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Show captions or subtitles in Windows Media Center:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/show-closed-captions-or-subtitles-in-Windows-Media-Center

Please note that on Windows 7, Windows Media Player and Media Center make use of media of Windows (WMF) framework Foundation instead of DirectShow for playback of certain types of files. Consequently, the DirectShow like DirectVobSub subtitle filters are not used.

WMF is used for the following formats: MPEG, WMV, MP4, MOV, M2TS. Other file such as AVI and MKV formats, Microsoft players are (in most cases) able to display subtitles.

  • My Windows 7 Media Player and Media Center disappeared

I have a Dell studio xps, 64 bit, Windows 7 ultimate 2010 edition computer. Not being not able to identify what was going on with her, I called technical support. She concluded that a driver had to be updated and I had a virus. (I have Norton and System Mechanic, and Malware Bytes) It has been never picked up by my virus software.

Everything was a lot until this morning and I discovered that I didn't have Windows Media Player and no Media Center either.

I spent the day doing research and trying to find the answer, but I couldn't.  I found a similar question to mine, but it was in vista (like evertime that I look for a solution to a problem for 7, all I can find is for vista).

Thank you very much for the help.

    Hello

    1. are you referring to the Media player and Media center shortcut icons?

    2. has the virus deleted from your computer?

    b. check if you can shoot to the top of Windows Media Player from here.

    Method 2:

If you are not able to take, then go to the location of C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player and double-click wmplayer

Note: If you are able to launch Windows media player, create a shortcut and check if it helps.

I suggest you try the following methods to solve the problem of Windows Media Center and check if it helps.

  • Records of Vista Media Center starts and stops at the wrong time

I use Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1 and that you may have noticed that when I schedule recordings for some a particular channel, Media Center starts 2 minutes beforehand and ends 2 minutes in advance.  This affects only shows record from my local affiliate Fox - all other shows for other strings start and stop at the appropriate time.

I checked the system clock with the start times of the shows and both are correct.  In fact, I saw one day Media Center started to record for a show that did not begin until 08:00 at 19:58 (according to the system time).  I had my TV on at the same time and was able to verify that the program in question had not yet begun, so the flow of the internet was sychned with the dissemination of local transmission.

It's very frustrating because I miss the end of some shows and cannot always extend registration ends because I'm ordering another channel, the next hour.

I have the same problem with the FOX network...

-1 make sure your clock automaticly sets in the internet and update once by pressing the link (which makes that he can see the time server)...

There are two ways you can go with this:

-If your departure time is correct, then just go to the Planner and choose the program (or series) you are trying to install, select the recording settings (or adjustment of series) or advanced setting... There is an option to "stop recording" 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 5 min, until 2 hours after the recording is finished... I have mine set to 5 minutes after, and she fixed it...

-If the starting time is disabled (as mine is), to enter ERM and manuver to tasks > settings > TV > recorder > recorder defaults

This is where you define all the flaws of the recorder, find "Start when possible" and "Stop when possible", 4 min value (max allows MCE)... Save and exit, restart the machine too...

You should be good to go...

PS, I just read the last sentence in your post, you must only have a tv tuner card in your machine (I have two, and that's the reason why I bought two), so you can always have a problem when recording two different channels (back to back on the same channel should work okay).

  • Recorded TV causes Media Center to stop when the cursor is moved over the icon. Sometimes Blue Screen of Death. How can I remove the element from the list of recorded TV shows?

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

"This problem that I've seen before - corrupted metadata in a recorded TV file causes MC to Issac when you click on" show in the list.
And, it is useful to know that show is the cause.  :)
Solution: Close Media Center.  Open an Explorer window and go to C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV.  Find the offending file, and either move it to another folder (unless it is a 'protected' program, you can always watch it in Media Player), or delete.
The file name format is: showname_network_starttime(where starttime is presented as dd_mm_yyyy_hh_mm_ss (24hours). wtv)

  • Can I watch a show that is currently recording in Windows Media Center since the beginning of this show?

I use Windows Media Center to record TV shows.  Suppose I record a show in an hour at 6:00, and I decide to 06:10 I want to watch this show from the beginning. (while it's recording)

Is it possible to do this in Windows Media Center?  The media file of the recording of the show is not accessible until it is 100% finished recording.

I am looking for a way to watch a show while it's recording, but to do so since the beginning of the show (after the start of recording)

    Thank you

  • How to record TV with Media Center (Windows 7) to a network drive?

Well, you would think that the new MediaCenter Windows 7 would live up to the recording of your TV for a network/player sharing. Nevermind, it seems that it is just not possible.

I have a windows 2008 R2 server and a Windows 7 machine with a TV card. Since my server has 2 TB of storage, it would be nice to save directly to a network drive. (I rode like Z :).

    I tried the following:

    1. By selecting Media Center itself: does not. Is not available.
    2. Editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording to RecordPath Z:\TV. Does not.
    3. Editing the registry: set RecordPath to \\server\TV. Does not.
    4. Create a symbolic link (mklink \D) of Z:\TV and \\server\TV with parameter in the registry under RecordPath.

I am currently out of options. I could of course install Windows7 on my server, but I have no license for this, and my windows 2008 r2 is free from dreamspark.

So: How is the world possible to make this work? And why not just MediaCenter detects my network sharing?

Record on the network is not supported.  The smallest hiccup of network could cause problems with registration, or even TV live as the recording buffer would be located at the remote location.

One thing you can do is to use Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 and its function of archive TV which you can configure to automatically move all your records or only those you want.

I have problems with sections of editing a stored program recorded TV in Windows Media Center on Windows 7.

    Hello

    1. What is the accurate and complete error message?
2 did you recent hardware or software changes to your computer before this problem?

We will try these steps and check:

Step 1: run diskcleanup, see link below

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

Step 2: Allow windows media Center to connect through the firewall

    1. open the Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall and then click Windows Firewall.

    2. in the left pane, click on allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall

    3. click on change settings.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    4. Select the check box for windows media center, select the network locations that you want to allow communication, and then click OK.

    If the problem persists,

Step 3: Rebuild the Media Center data store. To do this, follow these steps:

1 exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.

2 delete the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:

    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB

To remove the file, follow these steps:

    (a) click Start and then click Run.

    (b) in the Open box, type run and then click OK

    (c) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    (d) in the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome and then click OK.

    (e) in the details pane, right-click right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click on remove.

    (f) click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.
