Recovery disc for a pre-installed Ubuntu 14n (only) flag

I bought a HP Pavilion 14-n258tx Notebook PC provided with Ubuntu preinstalled OS. A DVD of Windows 8.1 bought separatel with 8 GB of memory.

I've manually updated Ubuntu to 14.04 faithful version. I created a new partition and loaded Windows 8.1. The laptop doesn't have a touch screen support. However, I do not use the 'Metro' Windows 8 features. My tablet is for that. There are a few features provided with Windows 8 "non-metropolitan" mode and I pretty much enjoy using 8.1 exclusively in mode "W7". I want to get out of dependence on Windows but appreciate having a Windows backup with the new unix environment.

The BIOS has been F66 of Windows.  Update drivers through Windows via the HP support was simple. There was a problem with the Intel graphics before 2013-11-25, Version10.18.10.3325, updated 158,03 M always on the HP site. Graphical display would turn and the movement of the mouse was "sticky". An e-mail, I managed to come back from HP support that somewhere might suggest only there could be a problem with my system fan. Be sure to get updated 04/10/2014 of Intel 10.18.10.3907 now available via Windows update, which issue is resolved. Missing NVidia drivers are on the HP support site. I adapted my missing Bluetooth drivers to the preinstalled Ralink wireless driver.

There was a HP_Tools partition which was lost very quickly to try to set up the dual boot. Confusion about the problems in the implementation of Grub2 has resulted in some attempts to complete reformatting/reload. Apparently this isn't Windows 8, which was change my setup dual boot on its own but, I am told, the bios of HP...

"the problems you are experiencing are related to some known bugs in the implementation of HP EFI. "Basically, the firmware is hardcoded to start the bootloader from Microsoft and which make it difficult, if not impossible to boot from anything else.

I have to live with it, finally begin directly in Windows and access to Ubuntu throgh esc/F9. I think it's quite precarious and likely to lose a lot of setup work by maybe an update has failed. Some documents on what's happening, or how to disable HP of W8 feature protection can be useful.

I downloaded the UEFI environment. I told him to put it on a USB key, but it recharged HP efi files in the system partition despite. This is apparently not a problem...

(No legacy support, secureboot and off quick start)

End sector number of sectors system partition boot sector
/ dev/sda1 2 048 1 050 623 1 048 576 EFI system partition<  ="" plus="">
data 665,833,472/dev/sda2 1 050 624 666,884,095 (Linux) partition
/ dev/sda3 1,448,515,584 1,465,147,391 16,631,808 swap partition (Linux)
/ dev/sda4 666,884,096 data partition (Windows/Linux) 781,631,488 1,448,515,583

but I lost my key F11 on startup diagnostics that are only partially resumed through HP efi files.

Apparently by my purchase of a single system preloaded Ubuntu Windows acquired separately, Miss me some features of Windows HP for the features below:

HP utilities: can't see, Play, system event... confusing whether they are present or not

some Cyberlink: "InstallShield Wizard is not a valid HP drive. The installation program stops now. "

and imortantly...
Windows Recovery 8: does not load message of incompatibility.

RECOVERY

originally PC only Ubuntu:
Should I make wiping out shouldn't it be a recovery partition or a recovery disc to reload the original drivers in order to recharge then Ubuntu via a live recording?
I should be able to recover my F11 diagnostics with that?

Where can I retrieve F11?

Windows 8.1:
Yes, I have the disk Windows 8.1 and should be able to reinstall if necessary on the partition.
I went to mine for the full recovery of the system of Windows 8?

Or that is my problem of recovery environment mentioned above)?
Wiped out I should wait to retrieve my comprehensive system drivers, etc. and Windows through my Windows system recovery?

This certainly proved to be the learning experience than I expected! :-). This support site and the forum has been very useful. I'm very happy with the result. I could try to make a double machine (VMWare).

Thanks for the help so far to have me almost through this.

In the off topic about the Intel graphic display bug which results in putting on and off the screen (she came back! again), I guess its due to some incosistency between graphics and power features. Unfortunately, prevent the Windows driver updates prevents all updates driver that allows me to remove Windows Intel/use generic display make it impossible to solve other problems of driver (such as USB network emulator) and I had to disable the Intel graphics card so NVidia will not find his companion and I get just Windows base. I'm calling ths problem very soon.

But the problem to avoid something that I didn't know before. That already by erasing partitions Windows or Ubuntu reloading Windows or Ubuntu will load the proper minimum drivers and from there I should be able to do all the updates for the drivers of HP for Windows or Ubuntu drivers I have installed manually from Ubuntu. And I now have enough backup for both OS/driver.

Am I wrong in thinking that these system recovery discs won't boot your laptop won't start plu?

And I deadended somewhere in the link of Malygris:

Get a USB HP recovery disc or HP recovery disks with or without disc rec instructions

above. I'll try once more...

So I'm still very confused do not have diagnoses of the base system (via the TOOLS HP F11) for critical maintenance, update the bios and other tools for the recovery of corrupted system bios and the inability to start.

(1) I can't HP_Tools to load on a USB key. Is it because I have got a usb BOOT drive? I am simply create a 20 GB fat32 partition called HP_TOOLS w / or w/o a drive letter on a spare 120 GB external USB and HP tools cannot find or create the partition of HP tools. It doesn't have to be loaded in a similar partition created from a shrunken Windows partition or create a partition on my hard drive as well.

2) what facilities relevant to the boot/recovery should I expect the disk of "fast food" that I was informed (above) to get again the representative of HP on the phone says is not available to me for my model?

(3) why can't I load the recovery of Windows 8 DAS?

I am the 2nd owner of computer and appears as former owner had installed a Dell on this HP operating system. would be OK but drive hard contains of disk errors that Windows cannot fix. Leading to intermittent shutdowns and all kinds of fluctuations to get a Win 7 upgrade disk to restart Windows. HP does not sell the RRD more. I'd be willing to pay for the discs, if someone has a set of left.

    Hello:

Most of the dc5800 comes with Windows Vista Business or Vista Business downgraded to XP Pro, like yours, so HP has never had recovery disc for the dc5800 W7.

    https://h10057.www1.HP.com/ecomcat/hpcatalog/specs/provisioner/05/KA404UT.htm

You call this number (USA/Canada) to see if HP recovery Vista Business left discs?

Demand for 64-bit because otherwise you will get 32 bits.

    1-800-334-5144

If they do not, you can still get a set of this provider not HP - looks like only 32-bit however.

You can call and ask if they have Vista Business 64-bit games.

  • Recovery disc for HP Pavilion dv6-1245dx

    Hello

Recently my hard drive crashed on my HP pavilion dv6-1245dx running Windows 7 (64-bit). I bought a new hard drive, but I don't have a recovery disc for my Windows 7 64-bit operating system course. I tried to look in the Support & drivers of order recovery disks, but they offer only disks of Vista. How can I get the recovery disc for my computer? The warranty on this computer is exhausted.

    Hello:

Product for your laptop specifications indicate that it comes with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

What is the version of the Microsoft Windows product key sticker on the bottom of your laptop?

If it is Vista, you will need to order a set of recovery disks Vista.

If you have the product key 25 character Windows 7 64 bit you can make your own regular installation of W7 media and allows to install W7.

Here is how to do this if you have the product key for W7...

Use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive using the USB compilation method.

Use the product key of windows 7 of 25 characters to activate your installation.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below. Download the Windows 7 version that is on your product (Home Premium, professional or ultimate) key to apply.

  • Recovery disc for Compaq Mini 110 c-1100DX

    Hello

I contacted HP support several times over the past 2 years without success (a few times when I first bought this PC), so I thought I would try these forums.  I bought a Compaq Mini 110 c-1100DX with Windows XP a few years ago and wanted to create a recovery disc for it.  I followed the instructions, but I find that the typical HP, who is referenced in my manual, Recovery Manager does not exist.  HP support has confirmed this, but refuses to communicate any recovery disks support or operating system.  They said I could use the Roxio software that never worked to create or restore images.  I refuse to pay $16 for something my other HP computers 5 all allowed me to... create the factory recovery disks.  I have an external DVD burner, I have USB flash drives, and I have a desire to find a way to recover the original image.  I know that I can make an image of the disk because it is today, and I can use another software to create back ups.  I don't want to do that, I want the original image.

Does anyone know of a place to download this image, a line of support that might be willing to send me the DVD recovery, or a way to connect with a more high level and preferably American, support staff?  I have 5 HP computers and printers HP 2, and I know the tech support/customer service line is a waste of time.  I'm good enough at the end of my rope with HP, and despite the fact that computers and printers have always been good support so so incredibly awful that I can't buy them more if I can't get this simple application is complete after 2 years of trying.  Any ready HP there at Carillon?

For reference for anyone else having this problem (or any other issue, with the support of HP), I called 650-857-1501 (HP corporate), went to the business operator, explained my problem and the issues I had with the support of the founded India, she was very polite and transferred me to a very useful case manager named Emily and it solved the problem in 5 minutes.  I can't believe how much it was easy after suffering through hours and hours of race around the line of standard support.

  • Help! Maybe I need the recovery disc for pavilion d4790y... + I think I messed...

I had problems with my office for awhile now, think it might be a fan, virus, hard drive or ram as in my previous post... the computer would freeze/crash or not stop, requiring a firm hard. trying to reboot/restart computer, it would beep several times until I have let it sit for a few minutes, then everything was back to normal (found that might have been an error in the BIOS after all this happened)...

Now, I have NOT touched or replaced all the components on my computer at all. Nothing! Now I have a debate on the upgrade of OS and RAM, but did not decide whether it was worth on this older machine. So I have done no amendment or change in software. the only change I made to it was not renew norton and goes with vast (free).

The other day, it suddenly wouldn't boot Win Vista 32 in all. My monitor at startup (before config utility appears) had colored vertical lines across the screen. I immediately thought 'virus' or ' fan isn't card graphic blown is screwed/false driver downloaded... I enter safe mode with network, no problem with the monitor (no lines) and tried driver restore, but also to download nividia the updated. Nothing seemed to work except safe mode (s), system configuration, start the Setup program, CTRL I (don't remember which menu is), & screen of the system restore/repair/diagnose. I tried all the reboot thing pilots config, patterns of change (hard disk only), boot it. When you go to the splash screen (a back screen on startup), no line either... I tried the system restore, did not a thing... I tried the verification of diagnosis, all right... all equipment, the repair of the system did nothing...

So I take the side box power off to check the components inside to see if any wiring was loose, fans not working/salty, etc... everything OK there besides fan a little dirty. Clean, same thing. Here comes the fun part...

Now, I backed up all my files and 'backup' on my external hard drive... I thought that I had made the recovery discs or he had came with it when I bought it... I changed the configuration settings RAID0 by removing the old installation and turned to the raid no drives. Then, I created a RAID0 again... I guess you know where this is going...

He said now insert the boot cd... Now, it of not anything but let me in Control Panel and change the startup preferences...

I have no recovery disk or I can't find what happened if I have... with backup (for USB) external drives will not work... I kind of looking online hp without result and I saw some online, but that seems pretty shady, especially with the case of the OS...

I will not buy another office, if I can help it, but I need to know if there is something I can do?

    Thank you

    .

    Hello:

Yes, I've been able to do it once, but you also need an operating system installation disk. You need a USB FDD + OS installation disc and the correct drivers of course on the floppy drive.

You can use a recovery for this drive yet. It must be an OS installation disc.

Yes have ultimate could be a problem. If you enter your model number on this site of surgeons in the computer, you get a lot of options showing the recovery disks for different versions of the OS, but only had listed actually drives.

You need to call HP and ask or email these surgeons computer guys and see if they have the recovery disc for ultimate games.

  • How can I get an acer recovery disc for a system that was sold to Singapore?

    Restore ACER Aspire 5680 disc

Hi, I have an ACER Aspire 5680 running Vista Home premium, I bought in Singapore in 2007. I currently live in the United Kingdom, but I was updating dome drivers when the system blocked.

I tried different ways to restart, but nothing helped. SO I bought an ACER restore disk and tried also without success. When I contacted ACER support told me I have to go to Singapore for the recovery disks, because the machines are different for the different continents! In the meantime, I have re-formatted the C: drive and am stuck.

I contacted ACER Singapore, who indicated that the computer will have to return to the ACER workshop for recovery.

It has been e_recovery aboard, but like many so I only took no notice of the password. But the recovery discs can be produced from a similar machine.

Is there someone (possibly in Singapore) who created a set of recovery disc for this model they are willing to sell

Please reply or send email to * address email is removed from the privacy *

    Thank you all

Your Windows Vista Home Premium will reach its end of life of Microsoft support in two months in any case then consider purchasing a copy retail of Windows 7 from a UK dealer instead.  That will relieve you of the connection of Singapore and make a necessary upgrade to Windows 7.  Only Vista Business will continue to get the updates and fixes security after April 14,

You will need to download the Windows 7 drivers for your Acer model before the upgrade.

I need to get or create a recovery disc for my mini HP laptop. I found them on the web site of HP for $40. Is there a way to create them or something? Sooner or later, I'm going to need to clean and reinstall. I can not really afford $40 for the installation discs.

Is it possible to create them?

    Hi, Phillip:

You should be able to create a set of recovery DVD using the HP Recovery Manager software, which should be in your menu "Al Programs".

  • I have a product key for a pre-installed version of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, now I need an ISO standard for installation in a virtual machine

    Hello

I bought a refurbished machine that came with Win 7 Pro pre-installed. I erased the HARD drive. Completely. Nothing more.

I don't want Win 7 installed on the drive, but I need an ISO to install it in a virtual machine for research reasons.

I tried to download the ISO of http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery, but when I gave the product key, I got a response that I should turn to the vendor of the computer and that is preloaded.

When I did and asked an ISO, they told me to download from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery. This seems to be the only source for Windows ISOs left in the world.

So, I run long in circles... infinte loop... :-(

How can I solve this misery?

    Thanks for the replies!

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. ISO file which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options?

See the article for more details: how: what are my options for getting Windows 7 reinstall media?

System Restore had no problem overwhelming on a WD 1 TB disk partitions (I don't know the resulting size because it wasn't intentional and I need the data recovery attempt - in another post).

    Hello:

It's a good question, and without trying to see what's going on, I can't tell you for sure.

The image was built for your PC, as it came from the factory.

I highly doubt you had over 500 GB of data on the image, so, in theory, your recovery discs should work on a 500 GB HARD drive.

I would speculate that if there is more data on the recovery disks than the hard disk size, they would not work.

I read comments from people who have installed, say 64 GB SSD and tried to use their recovery disks and disk insufficient size HARD errors.

You have to roll the dice on that one.

  • order a recovery disc for pavilion dv6-3090tx

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion DV6-3090TX about 2 years. A few months back my laptop froze and wouldn't restart normally. I wiped the hard drive and installed a version on the theme of windows 7 (30 days activation is already passed) so I can continue to use it (in the middle of my Uni term) because I didn't have the original Windows 7 disc that was used to install on my laptop. A few days ago, my battery is dead (no longer charges-warning about replacing the battery keeps popping up) and I think it's because of the incompatibility between the os and the hardware. I want to order recovery disks for my laptop to prevent other problems like this happen and hope you re - install windows 7 Home premium that came with it originally.

Question 1-will it re - install all the parameters, including standard factory programs and the OS (windows 7)?

Question 2-if my warranty has expired, can I pay and how much?

I'm in new Zealnd, if it helps.

Appreciate any help I can get this,

    See you soon.

Thanks a lot for the post, but I chose to ring a number 0800 NZ and he ordered on the phone I found on the forum. (5-7 work days to arrive I hope so!) But your adivice I'll keep for future reference should something else happens :-|.
