recovery-presario CQ62-215nr system, windows 7.

system recovery will not work. Not be filled discs. HP wants $60 for discs. Does anyone know other options?

Hello

Here is another solution, you can try.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a very respected source - Digital River.

Images of Windows 7.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found here.

  • How can I install Windows XP on windows 7 laptop Compaq Presario CQ62-215DX?

I want to install XP on my laptop (laptop Compaq Presario CQ62-215DX) which has Windows 7... give me some advice please

You replace the startup disk in the BIOS cd. Then boot from the XP CD. And press a button when it tells you. However, he will wipe away Windows 7. So, if you want anything copy everything you want (with the exception of programs), before formatting the hard disk.

NOTE: XP has no drivers for most of whats on the system (LAN/Sound/player card etc.). So if that is the only computer you have, go to HP site for this laptop search, download drivers and copy them into something. Before you begin. Or you won't get back on the internet...

Also NOTE: If the disk hard in it is SATA, you will need to disable the AHCI in the BIOS (change it to IDE mode). Or XP will crash before you get to the configuration screen. Unless you download the SATA drivers, unzip / extract and add them when it says press F6 (on a floppy disk).

The XP CD does not have SATA drivers on it either. If you do not add the SATA drivers during installation, do not change this back to AHCI after installing XP. Or it will crash

In addition, make sure that you have a XP key. A key to windows 7 will not work

  • Webcam is not detected on Presario CQ62 with Windows 7

Hi, I'm new to the Forum so apologies in advanced if I made this topic in the wrong place.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62-423NR laptop PC, and I can't detect the webcam. I looked everywhere on the web and from what I have gathered, some Presario CQ62 models have no webcams and some do. Now, I'm about to think that my model does not have a webcam, but it seems as if there is a webcam at the top of the laptop unless someone can confirm that this isn't a webcam?

in any case, I understood also that Windows 7 are compatible with the following programs for HP Laptops: YouCam and CV SmartMedia.
    Sources are here.
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01970581

Which leaves me with the options to install one of the programs above, that I did and the two programs do not detect my webcam despite this webcam has been registered there.

I tried to test on other programs of messaging like msn, Skype and so forth and the webcam is still not detected.

I also made sure the programs I have installed are compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.

I also trouble trying to find a driver for the webcam to this model as well, that makes me then back to the start, I have even a webcam? -___-

So anyone who would throw some lights as to whether or not I have a webcam for this particular model or there is something I am doing wrong?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hello

Sorry, but your model have only the built-in microphone. There is no webcam.

  • Presario CQ62 - a20ED Wireless drivers

    Hi all

    I just reinstalled windows 7 Prof 64 X on my Presario CQ62-a20ED.

Download and install the drivers worked perfectly except for the wireless drivers. (URL http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063 & lc = on & cc = us & dlc = in & sw_lang = & product = 4314...)

After the above link, I found 3 different drivers and I had no idea that one to use. Atheros, Ralink and Realtek so I downloaded all 3 of them and tried them all. Install, reboot, test, no dice, uninstall, reboot, install B, etc.

All 3 of them gave me the error "this program has not been installed correctly, you want to reinstall with the recommended settings?

Network Center shows me no wireless adapters, but Device Manager shows that a network adapter is missing the proper drivers (yellow questionmark).

LAN works but I don't have a cable at the moment so I can't connect to the internet in anyway (otherwise I might even leave the compaq/HP website scan my drivers)

So, I'm fresh out of the idea.

  • What is the correct recovery process once upgraded to Windows 10? (No OneKey Recovery)

I have a cell phone Z50-70 which is preinstalled with Windows 8.1. It is an OEM version, with the product key that is stored in the Bios. This is an installation of UEFI.

The vehicle currently has OneKey recovery installed, which, if I understand well (I've not used actually still), allows you to recover from a hard disk recovery partition. This is not a "fresh" Windows 8.1, but an image provided by Lenovo that take back you to the State the laptop was bought originally (will have all software Lenovo and preinstalled drivers).

According to the official upgrade guide Lenovo, before performing the upgrade of Windows 10, we should uninstall basically all software from Lenovo, including OneKey recovery and it won't work in Windows 10.

    Issues related to the:

    1. What is the correct process to recover the system from Windows 10 if something goes wrong? I think that Windows 10 integrates a feature "Reboot your computer" in the settings which I suppose is what we are supposed to use. It would take me to:

    a. a completely new install Windows 10?

    b. a created image during the upgrade from 8.1 to 10, containing all my files etc. when performing the upgrade?

    c. or he would use the recovery partition from Lenovo (which would have used OneKey Recovery if it was compatible) and take me back to 8.1 for Windows?

    (d) another thing?

    2. once I did the upgrade and Windows 10 has successfully activated, I think I could create a bootable with ISO of Windows 10, inside boot media and install a completely new install of Windows 10 and activate it. Theoretically, I could make as many fresh installs from the boot media I want, as long as initially, I did the upgrade (not a clean install), and the hardware of the laptop does not change. Is this correct?

2A. If, therefore, during the first boot media clean installation process, I'd be sure compeletly remove the Lenovo recovery partition entirely and go from there, rely on 'Reset your PC' feature of Windows 10? Could I could use even just reinstall Windows boot again media 10 as a way to recover? If I understand correctly, it is not absurd to keep recovery partition it if it can not be used within Windows 10.

I think I had a desktop PC ordinary with a retail version of Windows, then everything above would be fine. The complications added here are that 1. I have no product key Windows 8.1 (alll is managed by the BIOS) and 2. I have no recovery disk. I want to make sure that I understand everything completely before moving, and potentially do a clean installation using bootable media, so that I don't end up ruin something and end up with either a laptop I can not recover, a Windows installation that is not enabled.

    Thank you.

Update for anyone of another reading:

I just uninstall OneKey recovery on my installation of Windows 8.1 for the upgrade. While Windows is concerned, OneKey Recovery has been completely removed.

The good news is that I then shut down the laptop, you press the novo button, selected "System Recovery" and I was always greeted with OneKey recovery program where I could choose to restore from original image, or a custom image. So I guess that once I have upgraded to Windows 10, I'll always have the option to restore to the factory Windows 8.1 if I ever need/want to.

The confusion seems to be that OneKey recovery software is actually two separate software:

1 OneKey Recovery #1 is installed in the hidden recovery partition which is responsible to perform a system restore from the image of your choice - either the image of plant or a custom image created by #2 OneKey recovery software. OneKey Recovery Software #1 is still accessible via the Novo button.

2 OneKey Recovery #2 is installed on the Windows 8.1 installation, which is responsible for the creation of custom system images. You can also choose to restore the system from here, but AFAIK, it just restarts the computer and OneKey #1 software, which allows you to recover expenses. OneKey Recovery #2 is the software Lenovo told us to uninstall it before Windows 10. However, uninstalling OneKey Recovery #2 let software OneKey Recovery tact #1.

As far as I know, this means that the uninstall OneKey Recovery #2 mean that we lose the ability to create custom system images, but we reserve the option to restore from a system image.

Can anyone confirm that I understood, and that what I said above is indeed the case?

I'm still a little uncertain about what Windows built tens in the willingness to ' PC ' do well - that it will use the Lenovo recovery partition or run a 10 Windows Installer Clean up.

My laptop compac presario CQ62 wireless adapter disconnects frequently while I'm online. y at - it a driver update that will help solve this problem?

    Hello

    Thanks for providing this information.

I would like that go you to this link: drivers PC laptop Compaq Presario CQ62-421NR. Once here use the "scan now" under the control of the updates. This will scan your laptop all the updates that are available. If you see something that indicates wireless, make sure that this update is complete.

The other option to do this: go to the Device Manager (start type in search Device Manager), under network adapters, you should see the wireless card. Make a note of it (it must be a brand name) so that you can reply back with it. You can then right click on it and try to update directly from the driver.

If neither help in updating the wireless, please answer back with card network information. In addition, the operating system that is currently installed on the laptop.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • Should I order initial recovery disks or upgrade to windows 7 discs?

I have a HP Pavilion p6116f Desktop 64 bit Vista operating system updated and original upgraded to Windows 7, my drive crashed so I'm looking for the recovery disc.  Should I order initial recovery disks or upgrade to windows 7 discs?

    Harddrivealert, welcome to the forum.

If you use original recovery disks it will restore the computer to its orignal configuration, including Vista.  You can't get recovery for the computer disks that include Win 7.  You will need to purchase a full copy of Windows.  You need to make sure that you can find all the drivers for Win 7.

  • disk failure hard compaq presario cq62-231nr

My compaq presario cq62-231nr (product # XC434UA #aba) stopped working last week and I took it into the store of the computer it is diagnosed. They said that the hard drive has failed and they were unable to get all the files out of it. They wanted about $200 to fix so I just brought home. I bought a hard drive to it (500 GB hitachi) and when I install it myself. I have 4 dvd recovery disks that I made for her when I bought it there are 1 1/2 years. Never done this before so I am a little worried about smooth how it will go. My questions are:

    1-will the recovery discs works

2 - 500 GB hard drive will I put actually no difference from the old hard drive was a 320 GB

3 - What steps should I take after I put my hard drive in and start it (insofar as the use of the recovery discs)?

4 - I need a key at any time in this process? I don't have one that I know of.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hey, Dan:

    You are the very welcome.

    You have almost...

When you turn on your PC for the first time after installing the new hard drive, you must press the F9 key to the HP welcome screen.

This will give you a few startup options.  Your DVD player should appear as one of these options.

Don't do anything about the selection who again. First, open the DVD drawer and insert the diskette 1 of your set of recovery disks. Close the door and wait a moment – just a few seconds.

Then select the DVD - ROM drive in the list of the bootable devices in the list of startup options.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

You never know how long will last the electrical components.  This is why it is always advisable to keep the backup files.

There's an old saying... "It is not a question of if a hard drive will fail, but a matter of time."
