  I suggest the following method and check if it helps to solve the problem.

  I suggest you try to activate UAC from the command line and check if it helps.

  Say they open IE and type www.google.com and before they get a web access redirected a plash of logon credentials page.

  If it can be done on a router 800 series, which would be recommended for this device?

• Suppress the display of the user based tab

  I am putting together an application and I have three classes of users using Apex 4.2.0.00.27.

  (1) public - the user can access all public pages with no connection.

  (2) registered user - the user can watch reports.

  (3) Director - full access to the application.

  The public access two tabs.  The registered user can access 5 tables (2 public pages and 3 reports), and the administrator can access all pages.

  How can I suppress the display of tabs based on the users role?  I looked at the properties of the tabs and don't see anything that would be useful.

  It's the perfect use case "permissions."  Create 3 authorizations and in the definitions of the tab you can set which permission is allowed to see the tab.

  Working on the updating of the database user passwords do not work for front end users but the same passwords work at the db level.

  We backup before refresh and restraint after the update, but if the user tries to connect to db, they receive the error invalid password/username.

  Do you mean that you update the column SPARE4 of $ USER (which is a table, not a view)? I don't think it will work, because the password is salted with a random string that will be different in the two databases. It might work if you return to the use of passwords for 10g, which are salty with the user name. See here, the 10 GB hash stored in the PASSWORD column is the same in the two databases, but the 11g in SPARE4 hash is different:

  I use the JhsTree menu structure. One of my menu items is a wizard that goes directly to the insert mode, so at the end of the wizard, I redirect the user to a different group (menu item). The problem is that while the new menu page is displayed to the user, the previous menu item (Assistant menu) is still selected, so that if you try and you reenter the Wizard menu item, nothing happens as the structure of the menu and the page are out of sync (and the menu believes that you are already on the page of the wizard even if you're not)
  
  My question is, also the creation of a navigation to a different menu item rule, how can I programmatically change the selected menu item?

If the user is currently on page 9 of the application, the session expires and the user is redirected to the login page.   Tony, when the session expires after idling, wouldn't the point of application is invalid and so no point of application of the new session value any?

  My suggestion would be to save the current page to a variable preference of the user (by saving it to an application process that is running on the page of each page load). Extract the value of this preference after connection and redirect to this page (owa_util.redirect_url) if it is not null. On logout, delete this preference, so that you are not redirected to this page in the next connection.

  Note that the implementation of your condition (using any approach) could lead to problems that you might want to consider.
  For instance if the user was in a page that has a dependent process/calculations onload on some elements of the page (another page set) as would be the case with a child page/edit record of pages; It can generate many unforeseen errors when you connect and redirect to this page without setting any of these elements.
  Another case would be when these pages were opened in pop-up windows or the content of the iframe (and which should be called in a different page) and the parent page has expired without any submission (so once again is the child page last page)

  Under XP.  One of the user accounts seems to have been directed to the wrong user folder (the one that has been somehow created) in Documents and Settings.  Start menu, My Documents, etc are now empty, but they used to be OK.  The (desired) exact content is always in a folder user, but it is apparently not accessed.  I looked and looked and can't find how to reset the pointer (for example, identify the correct folder for that user).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
