  The layout behaves exactly as requested. What you see is not the "layout is messed up", that is the background image with a fixed size "header" applied to the bodypage, visible through the transparent elements who are now in positions not covered by the designer of the theme.

  You need to change the background of the page to the top compared to the display window to allow the difference between 50px of the theme and your 15px 35px height of the header :

    background-position: 50% -35px;
  }

  I'm a guy who likes to understand things for me and have browsed the web for the last 2 days, but can't seem to even approach an answer. I am extremely frustrated.

  I have no problem setting the width of tables and cells, but cannot, for the life of shorten me the line height to where I need it.

  In addition, each tutorial I read/seen that inserts a table shows the newly imsetred table with a height of normal line... barely higher then the text itself. In mine, the height of my cells is perhaps 5 times more than what I need it to be. I can't diminish for the life of me.

  The height can be set using CSS. Use a web inspector to search rules CSS applied to the text box.

  No it's the minimum height. Because sometimes in the same slide master docking station, notes slide and effects panels are anchored, these panels would be too small I think. But you can reduce the entire dock, keeping only the tabs if you want to.

  If you place an image with a height or width greater than 2048 pixels - in Muse - Muse will scale the image down proportionately, limiting the larger size to 2048.

  However, if you want to use the picture to its original size, you can move the image to the desired size by dragging handles to resize, or by entering values for height and width in the strip control on top. After that, go to the active panel and locate the image, then right-click on this image in the active panel and choose "import of large size. Which would bring the image lost the original image information.

  What is the screen resolution (width and height)?

  Some sites Web always displays with 1024 x 768, but many require a larger screen avoid horizontal scrolling.
  
  If you have less than 1024 x 768 then you should consider buying a LCD.
  
  An LCD is probably much cheaper while you have paid for the CRT screen and are also more easy on the eyes (the pixels are one and flicker).
