Reduce the size of the mp3 file?

I have so that as freelance .fla file made for me before. I noticed that MP3, he has imported have really low size about 800 KB only for each sound. When I sent this song to him, they were in WMA files and have 3MB size each. I noticed that the location of the file says "program files/total video converter /...» ", so I guess he used Total Video Converter software to convert from WMA to MP3. But how was he able to make the size of only 800ko? Because I tried other converters and the size does not change significantly. Finally, I noticed that it says in the properties 'original 50.0% ' and the use of imported mp3 quality is checked!

Also, since this situation has a WMA file. What if I already have the mp3 file? How can I reduce the size?

Thank you.

reduce the transmission speed will reduce the size of the file (and the sound quality).

  • Media.Windows - Media - foundation.enabled set to false does not stop the MP3 files to play rather than the economy. I want my file save instead of the rear. How?

I used to be able to click on the MP3 files and they would save, according to the setting in my Options. Now when I click on a link to an MP3 file, it goes to a player page, I don't want to.

I looked through the help here, and it is proposed to amend media.windows - media - foundation.enabled to false. I did, and it made no difference. (Restart after making the change did not help either.)

I use version 26.0 in Windows XP. I had not downloaded MP3s since July, so I don't know which version this started.

Windows XP uses Media Foundation, it uses DirectShow (DirectX). To turn it off, it was a different preference:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste media and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference media.directshow.enabled from true to false.

I don't know if this changes enter into force immediately or after you exit and then restart Firefox.

  • I can't download to work - it does not copy the mp3 files to my location (as defined in tools/options) - it gives me a new window with a player - no dwnlo

I am running windows xp sp2 and I put my site to dowload under (Tools/options), but when I select an MP3 file to download, firefox does NOT copy the file to my location of choice on my HD - instead, it opens a new window with a 'player' of fortune and starts to load the player with the MP3 file. The problem is that I have no idea where on my system, firefox has copied this file, so, I can't leave and come back later and read this MP3 file using winamp. I need to hear right then or lose - if I close this new window (with this puny little ' player'), then I lose the download, there where to put firefox on my PC (I have no idea where it is). It's all under firefox 25.0

I also use FIrefox 12.0 on an older windows 2000 machine and that works perfectly - I can download any MP3 file, I want to, and downloads of firefox 12.0 (on win2k, sp4) to my location (on my HD), and it gives me the download window so I can watch its progress and have some control over break and resume , and, when it's done, the download window offers me the option 'open containing folder' so I can make sure that where I wanted. In other words, Firefox 12.0 on WIn2k, sp4 works better than firefox on winxp sp2 25.0! What gives? I went through and set up my options for XP just like I did with Win2k and everything looks good, but firefox 25.0 don't know just my chosen and always default place to give me fortune player and I am not able to actually copy the mp3 files on my hard drive - it's firerox almost unusable 25.0 since downloading mp3 files is a big part of my use firexfox - please help. I am not able to upgrade windows at this time, and since firefox 12.0 still works fine on win2k, I do not understand what has happened to firefox?

I don't think so. If you convert the .wav files, you could. Google for an MP3 to WAV converter.

  • Record in the .mp3 file, but the file is displayed as .wav

Been using AA 3.0.1 for a long time, but can't explain why this is happening. I usually record a song in wave format, no problem, but then I do a "copy as save", in order to make an MP3 of the song, but now my choice to save is this:

    mp3PRO (FhG) (*.wav, *.mp3).

First of all, I never recall the *.wav never belong to with *.mp3 file extension. Second, once I recorded the song file appears as "mysong.wav", instead of "mysong.mp3", but looking at the size of the file, all about 5 k for a 256 Kbps that runs approximately 02:30, makes it look to be recorded as MP3's... a wav file size would be around 25000 kb.

Thus, it seems that it is saved as an .mp3 file, but to show that it has been saved as a .wav file.

How hell did this happen, and what can I do to make sure that the editor, I send an .mp3 file, actually becomes a .mp3 file and will be able to open it?

Another crazy thing ' don't mess with me and use until some time I have...

    Harry

Usually because an mp3 player has accidentally recorded with .wav left at the end of the name, a fairly common occurrence. Just make an mp3 save under and actually type .mp3 at the end of the name. This should fix hearing Add .mp3 at the end of mp3s automatically registered again.

I suspect that your saved file is actually an mp3 player so just rename it correcting the suffix.

  • Media Player play the MP3 files but not others

My OS is XP and I'm using Media Player 11.

In my WM library, I downloaded several music files.  Most are MP3 files.  Some will play, but others do not.  When I look at those who don't in properties, I see the length of play is 0:00.  As far as I know, I have all codecs updated but cannot be sure 100% bee.

Can someone please tell me in words of one syllable preference (I'm technophile worse of the world) if they know of a cure.

Looks like the files are corrupted. Do you know how they were created originally?

You will probably need to re - download or re - extract the files. If this isn't an option, you can search the Web for MP3 repair tool, but there is no guarantee that the repair will work. Tim Baets

  • Only the MP3 files?

    man, that sucks!

The purpose of the use of mp3 files, rather than on your CD WAV files is to move, five to ten times as much music in the same amount of storage and the sound quality has always be good enough.

You can use what version of Windows Media Player is already on your pc to rip to mp3 files. Simply start the program, click the extract and select mp3 for the format. Click rip again and choose the bitrate. I recommend the use of 192 or 256 kbps. The more the bitrate, the better is the sound quality, but the less will be the music player. I use 256 Kbps. Some who want more music on their drive use 128 Kbps. 128 Kbps sound much worse than the quality of a CD, while 256 Kbps sounds like the CD to many people. I don't hear the differnce between 256 kbps and 320 kbps. 192 Kbps always sounds nice to me, but not as good as 256 Kbps. I don't like how sounds 128 Kbps.

AAC files to mp3 conversion will result in a lower sound quality. A better idea is to make the MP3s directly from the CD.

  • Cannot modify the details of the MP3 file in Explorer

When I right click on an MP3 and then 'Properties' file and 'Détails' tab it won't let me type anything in any of the categories of identification as the contribution of artist, title and genre. What can I do to change these categories or do I have to change to allow me to change these categories?

Go to Windows Explorer (right click on my computer then Open. Go to an mp3 file to change. Left click on the file ONCE. At the bottom of your window, you can change the data. Do not forget to click on save whenever you change something.

A much easier way is to use a program like mp3Tag v2.50 with which you can also add/change album.  There are several tags, that you can add with this software with Windows Explorer.

  • Divergence of duration for the mp3 file

After export to an MP3 to Audition for Mac, I have a discrepancy between the duration of the file that is displayed in the 'file Info', (i.e. what you see when you right click on a file and 'Get Info' icon) and the actual duration of the audio file. The duration of 'get info' will be less. Bigger the file, the more the difference (seven seconds or so on a file of 1 hour). I would have never noticed this or supported except that one of my clients is-compilation automatic files (in pounds) and the content is get truncated. Apparently, the keys the client out of the info 'file' and not the actual properties software. But then, the data should be the same. Advice anyone...?

Just a wild guess that it might be a difference in the sampling frequency. Audio for CD is recorded at 44.1 kHz. Audio for video is usually recorded at 48 kHz. Once, I made the mistake of audio recording on a recorder that was set to 44.1. When I dropped it in a sequence defined for 48, there is a difference in time between the video and the audio clip. I did the work by trial and error using the extensible rate on the video tool, until she was. I could re - sample audio at 48 kHz, but I thought that I would lose less time to stretching of the rate because the clips were more than an hour each.

Check if your output of the hearing is set to 44.1. If so, change it to 48.
