Reference Dell 6gbps SAS HBA and Powervault TL4000

Hello.

We have a server Poweredge R620 with Windows 2008 R2, two Dell 6gbps SAS HBA cards installed and Simpana software backup R2 9.0.

We also have a TL4000 with two IBM drives, all firmwares are up to date.

Each SAS HBA card is connected to each drive in the library via a single cable SAS.

I can see the cards in the Server Device Manager.

The library works, but when I monitors the status of the disk in the web interface of the ilbrary, the two ports and B seem to 'not ready, not connected. "

I tried to use Simpana to detect the library. But it cannot detect anything after dozens of tests and scenarios.

What I am doing wrong? I can provide all of the information you want.

Thanks in advance.

Problem has been resolved with the help of Bestami Bayramoglu of Dell Technical Support team.

I took some pictures of the rear of the server and the library and sent them to Bestami.

They analyzed and was told that the SAS cards were not inserted and locked properly.

These cables are equipped with a locking mechanism and they do not work if they are not inserted and locked properly.

Another question for readers; SAS cards inside my server r.620 part number is j53x3. Crack of metal of this card is not compatible with my server in a rack. The correct we reference number is 3ddjt.

Bestami told me about this and we will order correct.

Thank you for your support.

  • Reference Dell place 11 Pro and Dock

    Hi all

I have a Dell coming Pro 7130 11 and the docking station. I can't have an external display to work using the HDMI port or display connectors. I have 2 Dell E198WFP (1440 x 900), the two connecting using DVI inputs. Display sometimes appears, but does not have the resolution or refresh rate tries to run at 75 Hz despite being set at 60 Hz

AFAIK drivers etc are all up to this date, the tablet can connect to an external monitor using the construction to the mini HDMI port without problem?

    Any suggestions, anyone please?

Hi, the dock rarely works for me... the workaround I found is to unplug power dock and plug back in. (works 95% of the time, I get the monitor like that). It is with the 7130 model.

  • Reference Dell 6248: hot swapping and upgrade battery links

I have a set of switches Dell 6248.  I have a few questions to explore:

    (1) can I add/remove the CX4 cables while the switch is working?  (I guess it's the same rules as a cable normal Ethernet...)

    (2) can I add/remove modules while the switch is working?

First scenario I'm looking at: extend the stack on a stacked rack.

I think the process here is, install a switch of spare with stacking module, run off battery cables to the battery, breaking and re-Assembly of the ring, then turn on the switch, confirm the ID stack and connectivity and migrate customers to it.  I can totally hot cables plug the CS4, right?

Next scenario I'm curious: upgrade of 12G to 48G stack.

Can I exchange the accumulated 12 GB card and swap the 48G card in when the switch is on, or do I have to turn it off?  Connectors on the 48G card the same?  (CX4..)  Can I / layout 48G and 12G cards in a pile during my upgrade?  Is the maximum length of cable the same (3 m) on a stack of 48G?

    Thank you!

    -danny

    Hey Danny,

The stackable modules are not hot-swappable. The cables are, but for the modules to detect that it must present when the switch is started. A reboot is also required for stacking on these ports using Ethernet. Yes 48 GB stackable modules also have a 3 meter cable.

We also try active adapters, but it does not work too. With the DP to DP cable the U2412m is recognized by Windows 8.1 64 bit with other cables of nothing.

Already talk to the Dell Support without any solution they told me it was a problem with the docking station you have version 1.0 of DP and our monitors 1.2 DP which does not. I don't want to believe this response. Sometimes, when I installed a different video driver 3 display will light for a few seconds, but after installation always the same problem. Hope the new driver brings the solution for us.

The only solution I found (to make V11Pro on docking station to work with U2412M on DP) is to downgrade the video driver version A00.

  • Reference Dell 3007WFP-HC (renovated) and Dell AX510 Soundbar

    Hello

I have an old refurbished Dell 3007WFP-HC. Ordered a Dell AX510 Soundbar which initially worked a little.
When I turned the nob to turn on the light was dim half it delivered sound then just died.
Doesn't replace and this time no light on when nob is turned on and no sound.
    So I guess that DOA?

Could there be something wrong with my monitor and it 'Fries' sound bar?
Or is that what these two or is not compatible?
Or is it just bad luck and I should get the bar of his predecessor again.

    SoC

Unknown. I've never heard of a bricking monitor a soundbar. I'm assuming that the AX510 is powered by being plugged on the 3007WFP-HC #2 power port (User Guide, page 3)? You should consider getting the AX510PA

who uses its own AC adapter.

  • Reference Dell 3100cn impression faded and white bands on the right side

I have a Dell 3100cn that has about 3 years and I started to experience 2 lines of dots down the right side in each of the CMYK about 1 inch from the right margin.  With some additional impressions, points has continued and the right margin collapsed to some.  When he meets it, I inspected the original drum, which had 13 000 impressions color top and found a pattern of noticeable wear on the roll right where the points emerged, which is also in the middle of the faded area.

Since then, I've replaced all 4 cartridges (no change) and the drum (this removed the points) and the points are gone, but faded on the right side are always present and sometimes introduce a little yellow toner into a stipe as well.  Any ideas what may be the cause - possibly a roller needs to be replaced?

Here are some pictures of the problem: http://picasaweb.google.com/kerrylandis/Dell3100cn?feat=directlink

Any help would be most appreciated.  Thank you!

    Kerry

Did you clean the stuff off the coast of the new drum unit? There SCRATCHES, left on the drum, after that you do? If so, this drum unit is "toast".

Once again, excellent photos. Nothing seems to be "demonstrably" false except for one thing... I noticed you are using 3rd party toner carts. In this model of printer, which is bad news. I'm sure they are cheaper, but in the long run, you'll end up paying a lot more to get your machine fixed.

3 toners (in this printer class) do not have the same OEM toner xerographic properties. In your case, it seems as if the black toner from the black developer is agglutination at the drum, preventing all other colors to make an efficient transfer. You will need to replace all the 4 cpl developer and all 4 carts of toner (with original parts) just to be sure. Not cheap.

By law, manufacturers of printers are prohibited by the "us clay Act and Sherman Act ' and the 'Canada competition law" and other laws of you ask to use their cartridges. That said, this Bill does not mean that OEMs are responsible for repairs when downgraded 3rd party or products are used in their machines. Also, this Act does not require manufacturers to share their toner formulation... usually a trade secret... with their competitors.

Some manufacturers use special formulas for their toner. All 3xxx/5xxx series Dell COLOR laser printers fall into this category. IF 'other' toner is used in the machine and the machine is damaged, repair of that circumstance is NOT covered by your warranty. In other words, you will have to pay for the repairs until the machine is fixed, then, the machine is back on warranty. I know from personal experience that Dell has this policy.

I know your warranty not on now... but it will cost you some $$ if you want to restore this machine perfect condition. More than $$ printer is interesting, but it's your decision. (you might think of parting with the machine on eBay)

Personally, I no longer buy third party carts... NONE of the 3rd party resellers ask if they will guarantee repair of the printer costs if their product causes damage. If they say yes, ask in writing.

Sorry I don't have better news for you.

    Hello.

    I'm under ESXi 3.5 u4 on a Dell poweredge 2950 machine.

    I recently bought a Dell Powervault 124 t. autoloader with a HBA SAS 6 GB/s card.

I installed the card SAS in the PE 2950, but now I can't seem to see in ESXi.

Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you very much.

I'm afraid that the Dell technician is correct.

Someone at - it a link on ESX support not directly connected devices?

This isn't the issue. The question is: do you have a link that shows devices supported?

Reference Dell does support the autoloader Powervault 124 t. on ESXi 3.5?

Have you checked the VMware HCL already, if the SAS controller is included/supported for ESXi version, you are running?

There are a few articles which have tape readers running with Adaptec SCSI controllers, I don't see anything for ESXi 3.5 with a SAS controller still...

Maybe there's a better chance to make this work with ESX 4.x with VMDirectPath

  • Z210 and SAS HBA: those that will work?

I have an Z210 with the processor E-1240 and 16 GB of RAM, Win7 64-bit.  I have a few hard drives SAS 15 K HP's and I want to install on this machine - but the Z210 has no integrated SAS controller. I discovered that there is an Avid Certified version of this computer, and it uses a controller LSI SAS SAS9200-8F to hang the external storage drives. LSI SAS9200 - 8 used to be available in a version of the internal interface (LSI SAS 9200-8i), but that is only apparently now deployed for IBM and there are no Windows 7 drivers.

I want to install an INTERNAL SAS HBA. and I noticed that there is an older model, the LSI SAS3041e, which has drivers for Windows7 64-bit available. So, I think that this cheap SAS HBA could be a good candidate for my Z210.

Has anyone any how SAS HBA in an Z210 properly installed? Specifically the SAS3041e LSA? I think that the issue could boil down to how you install drivers and access the HBA for the boot BIOS...

    DRM for your collective wisdom!

Well, after much research, I decided that the LSI SAS3041-e (non-RAID) controller was a likely candidate. They are available on eBay for almost nothing.

I just installed one in my Z210 and it was as easy as possible: Although the technical docs of LSI a several step process to load the drivers Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with Service Pack 1 installed, the drivers are already present in Windows 7 Pro. I plugged the controller, hooked to a pair of HP SAS 15 K disks and booted from the disc of Windows 7 HP system recovery.

The controller immediately recognized Z210 installed the BIOS and I was off and running. Installation of Win 7 completed smoothly and when the machine finally started in a new Win 7 system, everything was fine and my two new hard drives SAS have been properly formatted and correctly recognized. You should be aware that you will need a pair of "bizarre" SATA cables to use these discs 'battleship-quality '. Cables have a conenctor unified at one end to connect the SAS drives, and the other end is a plain old SATA drive connector and a SATA power plug.

Even if SAS 15 K drives are slightly slower than a disc of 6 GB/S SATA III, the practical speed difference is trivial, these drives have a superior quality construction regular SATA HD, I think.

  • RAID works using MD1200 r.620 and 6 GB/s SAS HBA?

We have a r.620 with Dell SAS HBA already in which is attached to a tape of 124 t library.

Just got a MD1200 and I plugged in the other port on the SAS HBA.  I can see the drives in Windows Disk Manager.  I can also see Open Manage, but there is no option to use RAID functions or create virtual discs.  Should there be?

In fact, OpenManage said "Connector 0 (no RAID)" with regard to the SAS 6 GB/s HBA.   I searched online for drivers for this card that allow RAID and can not find.  Am, I watered?   How the RAID to work on the MD1200?

    Hello wardog25,

For the MD1200 you use a PERC card because it will allow that you create a raid array. The SAS 6hba that is used for your 124 t isn't a raid card, so you will not be able to create a raid on this map. For a MD1200, we recommend that you use a PERC H800. Here is a link to the Guide of interoperability for the MD1200 & if you look at page 2, it lists the supported raid controllers.
