Refresh Windows 8.1 on TBT2

Hello

My Thinkpad Tablet 2 has acted in a variety of ways, and I think about refreshing or repair the operating system. Question is though: this will restore Windows 8 again? Or I will always keep Windows 8.1?

Thanks in advance.

It will restore Windows 8. Then, you will need to use Windows Update to reinstall the 100 + updates are released since Windows 8 has been released. Once they have been installed, you can install the Windows the Windows store 8.1 upgrade. Then, you need to install another raft of updates for Windows 8.1, followed by the Windows 8.1 update.

It's a real pain.

    Dear all,

I know that this issue is outdated, but I'm stuck and could not find relevant suggestions to solve the problem. I had a Windows 7 preinstalled on my laptop and when windows 8 pro upgrade offer was announced I was among the first who was immediately upgraded to windows 8 pro and then as a special offer that also gave me the windows media center to activate. I would like to confirm that I have not the mail where in the product key for windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and windows media center. After the upgrade, except a few hiccups, there is no problem at all. Then when windows 8.1 pro was available on the windows store I've even once upgraded to windows 8.1 pro. After the installation of my new configuration was Windows Pro 8.1 with Media Center.

But immediately after the upgrade, I realized that the discount into account and recovery option did not work. He always encouraged me that some files are missing and I need to insert the media. But never, I downloaded an image ISO of Windows 8 Pro and don't have I not a windows media 8.1 pro because of the way I had been upgraded to windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center. in any case, I just forgot the question and never bored on this subject seriously.

But Offlate I realize that my computer has slowed down considerably. I tried the option to delete the Temp, Prefetch compensation files, scan /sfc, defrag etc etc. But nothing seems to work. Suddenly I realize also that when booting I get a blue screen with the message this process is critical error blue screen death. Sometimes, I just get a prompt Commander with press TP message press Ctrl Alt Del and then some message about a problem in external media connected failure... I never took a snapshot of the same thing.

Now someone can tell me how to do: -.

b how to refresh windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center without any media. I have only windows 8 Pro and Media Center Key separately.

    (b) If there is no way to update windows 8.1 Pro without media then

    (I) Comment to download media Windows Pro real 8.1 with the key of Windows 8 Pro on the Microsoft site.

(ii) what happens if I download windows 8 Pro Media and then try to update windows 8.1 Pro? Will it work?

(iii) if I download Windows 8 Pro and then reinstall on my laptop running windows, Pro 8.1 will he do a clean install? What happens to the Sony Vaio Care which is preinstalled on my PC? It's the Bios that has been updated on my PC? I checked out the site of Sony Vaio and found that it has not released and drivers for Windows Pro 8 or 8.1 of Windows Pro. Sony has released updates for Windows Pro 8 and 8.1 of Windows Pro only. So after a clean installation from which will be drivers for Bios, graphics, Ethernet, Bluetooth drivers driver, Wireless LAN Driver, SATA driver, card reader memory, Vaio Care pilot, Vaio Control Center, Data Rescue, Notebook Utilities, Vaio Update, Vaio Gate, fast Internet access, Vaio Smart Network, pilot ME, etc etc...

    (c) how to fix the blue screen issue?

    (d) what to do if I get the Message to press Ctrl Alt Del again and it won't start... Return to the menu even again and again...

I'd appreciate if tech assistants would care to guide me to solve the problem. Any attempt to answer in very technical terms without guides step by step is likely to confuse me further... If a request to all the counterparts to stay simple.

But a simple thought crossed my mind - why Microsoft did complicate the question so... Why couldn't they keep the key product of Windows 8 and windows 8.1 even for anyone to directly download the windows pro 8.1 and refresh the PC.

    anyway thanks in advance... regards

    Hi Isabelle,.

I understand that you are looking for ways to refresh your computer.

IF you get a message missing files when executing update, it is recommended to create a bootable disk for Windows 8.1 and launch then refresh.

Please follow the link below that will guide you to create the installation media for Windows 8.1:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

You have not an ISO for Windows 8.1 with media center, it's Windows 8.1/Windows pro 8.1.

Once you launch a clean install of Windows, you must reinstall the application on the computer manufacturer website. and to learn more about the availability of drivers, contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

  • UAC has been on "always notify me" when I refresh windows 8.

    Hi all!

    I have a HP Pavillion Dv6, Win7 that I updated in February of Win8.
After the last update of Win, my pc wouldn start, gave me a gray screen, then a message that my pc seems to have a bone no more.
(wery after my rescue Vaio with Vista, chrashed in BSOD, well, that s another story)
I tried everything I could think possible and last Friday, I ordered a Microsoft installation disc.
I did a refresh from disk, but still no access to anything whatsoever and no connection to / c:.
Looked around the Internet again looking for a sollution to no vail.
Then I did a clean install, no improvement.
Today, I discovered that my UAC, Win, has been set to 'always notify me', I had totally forgotten...
Stupid, I know, and I curse myself for her. And now, I know that this is the problem.
I m a beginner when it comes to this.
I can access the account user high but little else and don't know what to do with it anyway.
Is there any solution for this?
    No matter what?
    Kind regards.
    Viktoria

    Hi, Viktoria,.

    1. what exactly is the problem you are facing now on the computer?

    2. do you get an error message? If Yes, what is the exact error message?

    3. you have asked to enter the password when you try to make changes on the computer?

When the changes will be made on your PC that require administrator-level permissions, UAC (User Account Control) notifies you and gives you the opportunity to approve the change. UAC is used to prevent the virus to make unwanted changes.

If the UAC is set to always inform, each time you make changes, she will ask permission. If logged in as an administrator, you will be asked to click on Yes to the granting of the permission to make changes. If you use a Standard account, you must enter the password for the administrator account.

Let us know the specific issue that you face and respond with more details to help you also.

  • Refreshed Windows 8 now, it says my WIndows is not active

Then I got a virus and decided to restore my laptop. Now it says that Windows is not active product key does not work, try a different key or buy a new one. It's *. A few months ago Samsung has replaced the motherboard for this thing, which seems to be the problem. But now Microsoft and Samsung give me the run around. I'm upset royally. Oh and I noticed the sticker windows fraying on the background of this laptop a few months ago, now it seems to be fallen off. This better not serious, I bought this darn thing directly to Samsung new with windows 8 preinstalled. I still have my receipt. I need this resolved now!

    MP3

First of all, it is a site of peer to peer, made up mainly of volunteers who have little or no contact with Microsoft, so even if it was the fault of MS, we do nothing here.

Second, if your windows came pre-installed it is called OEM and the key is linked to the original material.  A sure thing to kick off the trigger "invalid" is to replace the motherboard. It's something samsung knows and should be supported.

Thirdly if it is still under warranty (and samsungs replacing the mobo would indicate this) they should be through it all or complete replacement of the computer.

I wish we could help here, but we have even less influence you do because at least you own.

  • Windows 8 "Refresh Your PC" is, is possible to fully restore? How?

Windows 8 feature 'Refresh Your PC', that will repair Windows to the default settings. It will remove all earlier updates installed, the programs installed. But does not affect personal files. Windows keeps copies of previous Windows, program files, directories users under the Windows.old folder (it will remove Windows automatically after 28 days).

Using the troubleshooter of records to retrieve. We can restore these affects the refresh files.

My sister accidentally executed refresh, Windows removes everything that has installed the programs & updates. Troubleshoot utility will not help. I have these programs inside the Windows.old folder.

My question is is it possible of entire back "refresh the process" of restoration? I have need of all these updates installed previously & programs. How to do this?

    \\Dinesh

Unless you had a system image backup is not possible to roll back the update.  The programs will need to be reinstalled.

  • Windows 8 buggy again after many problems and refreshes.

Hello, this has been my third discount over the last 2 weeks. Windows 8 always worked fine for me until about 2 weeks ago, when he got into a loop of auto repair after a reboot.  I tried everything to fix it and finally I had to update Windows.

After that I finally managed to install most of my programs lost and began to enjoy my PC once again, suddenly the Windows Explorer crashed and began to close and restart all the time. When I tried then auto repair, it remained stuck in another loop, this time with a nice BSOD at the end I searched a lot on the internet and I tried everything I can to remedy this, but finally I had to réactualisiez.

After this refresh Windows seems to work perfectly, and better than ever before, I could even install some updates, that I was not able to install before because of some kind of bug. Then after a certain update that upgrades to Windows 8.1 appeared in the app store. My first attenpt to install failed, so I googled the error code upward and run the update during a clean boot with updated graphics drivers. The update failed, but this time my internet connection is completely. After some research, I discovered the autoconfiguration service WLAN could not be started due to error 193: 0xc1. I tried all possible ways to fix that I found on the internet, but nothing has worked. Finally I have a third update of despair.

Given that the update, I can't sem to be able to install half the updates and all click on boxes of the metro interface miss the text. When I tried to contact Microsoft support, I discovered my product id is "unavailable" and everything is just very bug.

So, what should I do now? Perhaps yet another Windows refresh help? Is there meaning to perform a new installation? Is this necessary?

I also finally have windows 8.1.

Table of contents of the double thread:

A clean installation resolves all possible hard disk problems?

Hello, I had a lot of trouble with my PC for the past 3 weeks, including the BSOD and other kinds of bugs and crashes. I described most in this issue:

Now everything seems to work again fine, but I get several kinds of problems. When I tried to install the video card drivers that my computer kept freezing, most Metro applications turns off after opening, some programs do not start sometimes and I get a lot of other mistakes. My computer needs correct the mistakes of hard drive several times a day.
Everything points to the failure of the hard drive. However, I use an SSD. I don't know if this changes anything though.
Then my last question was a clean install would stop all this evil for good? And if not, what might help?

I just wanted you to know that I finally discovered the cause of the accident. Because those made completely inaccessible Windows, I couldn't dump files. But after each clean install Windows crashed after I installed a bunch of software. But I was not sure what software it is, so I made a wrong bet, and my computer crashed again.

So, after that 2nd clean installed, I searched for accidents with the program I knew most, Deamon Tools. Each accident came when I restarted the computer after a session, I have installed or used Daemon Tools in. And indeed, it turns out be known to cause a BSOD. However, that sounded weird to me, because I used it for many months and never the source of problems.
After that my 3rd installed clean, I decided to restart my computer after each program I have installed, in the case of another wrong bet, but do not install Daemon tools. And now, while I tap on my beloved PC, it works very well with all my software, with the exception of Daemon Tools.
I also red published there also with pretty much every other ISO mounting program on Windows 8. No idea how to mount the ISOs anyway? (Edit: oh, it seems that Windows 8 is a built-in ISO film editor.)
  • Can satellite L50-B-1 p 1 ODD broken - I switch to Windows 10?

    Hello

I got a new Toshiba Satellite laptop last Christmas and in the month of August, I dropped it!

Basically, he fell from the arm of the couch when I used it. The only damage that I could detect was the CD player door opened and when I tried to close it is stuck fast centimeter about half to be fully closed. As far I could see everything worked perfectly, and I rarely use the cd player, so it was a problem, I could live with.

It was a couple of months. Since then, I've noticed a couple of small glitches when using the laptop - mainly File Explorer crashes out when I try to sort the photo folders. I had no chance to try to correct this problem with the help of internet forums - the problem could be a result of dropping the phone, but there seems to be a bug and others had met too. Then I started thinking that maybe a window refresh or upgrade to Windows 10 could help.

It's then that I found another problem that indicates more damage I had at first glance - the laptop is no longer recognized my drive optical cd. No icons anywhere and no sign even of all the drivers in Device Manager does not. I did a scan on the hard drive, but it does detect no error - I guess it could have been some if the HARD drive has been damaged by the fall.

Even if the laptop is still under warranty from the manufacturer, I'm guessing that damage from falling is not covered, and repairs etc would have to pay for. I am reluctant to pay for the repairs, a car that I don't need.

So I'm looking for a little advice really. The the bottom line is - I just really need to the CD player - I can re - install all my software from the HARD drive or the web and apart from that, I'm probably not need again.

So I can only do a refresh Windows 8.1, or even go directly to the upgrade of Windows 10 or either of those who will store up trouble in the future given the hardware not recognized?
Is it possible that one of these actions would actually recognize the optical CD drive and re-install again?
There is always the physical problem of a CD player door that is stuck. I don't need in this player, but must it be fixed before the update or upgrade?

My apologies if this seems very naïve, and I thank you all for your time and your help.
    Kind regards
