registered MS Word icons are blank with extension .doc in Win 8

This happens on all other programs except Publisher. They are all recorded with a white icon. When you click the icon of the Virgin, it opens in the appropriate program. I followed all the advice on Google, but nothing works. The file extension changed. Microsoft Word document .doc

It's embarrassing more than anything - and a complete mystery. Default emissions programs the white icon to open with the appropriate icon of MS Word.

Thank you!

I have this problem, had to do a hard reset because of the loss of output video/media center crash on restart my Firefox Firstclass & icons are now leaves white, very annoying. Delete iconcache.db fix does not work. I was able to restore the icon to exe files, but the icons pinned Taskbar & Start menu, items do not update.
My dose is as follows:

Step 1:
click Start > right click on the program in the start menu > properties > Shortcut tab > change icon > Browse (go to exe for this program) > select exe file > open > choose appropriate options icon. > ok > ok > if you get a message saying that only an administrator can do this, click on continue to apply the change.

Step 2: start a session application & while it is running to right click on the taskbar icon > detach this program > new right click (watch now icon because it represents the application running, not the shortcut) > pin this program

I'm not a fan of the new taskbar of the mac either style, it open & navigate several sessions of programs is tedious, especially when the previews seem to almost identical & if different programs use the same icon he adds to the confusion. See:

• Check the permissions for the domain in the active tab in tools > Page Info > permissions
• Check that the images are enabled: Tools > Options > content: [X] loading images automatically
• Check exceptions in tools > Options > content: Load Images > Exceptions
• See the tab "tools > Page Info > media ' for blocked images (scroll all the images with the cursor key).

If an image in the list is grayed out and there is a check mark in the box "block Images of..." and remove this mark to unlock the images from this area.

There are also extensions (Tools > Modules > Extensions) and security software (firewall, antivirus) that can block images.

Hi 2confused,

Looks like you need to restore your icons. This may be attributed to a pole by a post from Rob Brown answers by I can't find the link, it's my "ups". In any case, here's how:

Here is the first thing to try...

Right-click on the desktop, select display and then "show desktop icons".

From this point, you can try to restore upward or by a system restore to an earlier point to be icons in your existing installation.

• After installation of adobe PS 6 & DW, the icons are blank

I just installed the academic version of Adobe Design & Web Premium. First of all, I uninstalled the trial versions little tAdobe I had, the new software installed and activated with the serial number etc. Everything seemed to install correctly and when I click (windows 7) on the icon in the start menu to Photoshop straight and ask to "PIN to the taskbar", he does, but the icon is empty, it's too for DW. These two programs I had installed as trial versions until I uninstalled it.

How to fix? Everyone?

I thought about it. I found the icon in the folder program files, copied and pasted and then the icon in the start menu, even if the icon appears in the start menu. Then hit it on the icon in the start menu on the taskbar. Go figure. Something wonky was going on, but it seems to have been resolved. Thanks anyway for your help.

Thank you

Hello

This could be due to a virus or infection of malware on the computer or problems with the Database Cache icon on the computer. I wish I had this information to better understand:

(1) have you run an analysis using software registry cleaner on your computer recently?

(2) what antivirus application do you use on your computer?

Refer to these methods in the order in which they are presented, and check the status of the issue.

Method 1:

Run the difficulty of following article and see if it helps:

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/system_maintenance_for_windows/

Method 2:

These types of problems occur sometimes due to the infection by the virus in the computer. You can scan your computer from a Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Method 3:

If the problem persists, then check the suggestions by Gaurav Prakash in the following thread and check if that helps. Skip the steps you have done already.

• All icons are shaded and wavy after installation of the patch and restart (win xp sp3). How can I fix it?

After you have installed the latest patches, all icons are shaded with vertical lines undulate on them. Computers desktop and in Windows Explorer. Application windows appear clear, but icnos in their midst are the same way. What should I do to fix this anomaly?

-J' tried the obvious desktop refresh. No change.
-J' rebooted in safe mode, and then back to standard mode. No change.

What else can I try?

Hi JimGoode,

Unfortunately, the screenshots are not available in the post.

Given that the question does not appear in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

If the previous step fails, then use SkyDrive download screenshots of icons.

Use SkyDrive download collected files and after shot/screenshot.

• Why the Word icon changed on just this computer - new Word icon with an area gray at the bottom left with a diagonal bar or a pencil?

Last week, one of our machines (34 bit) Vista has begun to view Word files by an icon which ranges from normal Word icon. This strange Word icon has the normal Word icon with a gray area at the bottom left. In the grey area is a diagonal bar or a pencil. (Too small to see clearly).

It seems to behave like a normal Word document, but the icon is different. When double click on the file, it opens Word application normally. It prints as expected. If I find a Word file on the server, the icon of the file word seems normal. Once I move the computer, afterwards, the change icon. For some, it changes shortly after I saved the document on the new computer. Sometimes, the icon does not immediately change, and sometimes it does. Sometimes, the icon changes after the updating of the computer.

I was told what happened after an update of Microsoft, but I can't check. This computer has a Word 2007 (which has been updated to Word 2003 several months ago) and is running on the Vista operating system.

We tried to restore the computer to last week, but he did not. Message:
"System restore was not entirely successful. The system files and settings on your computer did not change.
Details:
An unspecified error occurred during system restore. »

Hi Super_Ego,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

I suggest you try the following steps.

1. click on start and then click Control Panel-> click the default programs->, and then select the set Associations tab.
2. locate .doc or another Office Word on extensions and select change program.
3. search for Microsoft Office Word, and then click OK.

Check if the word file is back to normal.

If this does not work, I suggest to create a test user account and check if the settings file for the word files are normal.

Check out this link that talks about How to create a user account in Windows Vista

Let me know if it worked.

Hi MarcSatz,

-Did you change on your computer before this problem?

This problem occurs when one or more of the following conditions are met:
• The registry values that are associated with the file name extension are corrupted or missing values.
• The computer is infected with a virus.

Here is an article that will guide you in the process of fixing the issue:

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. I have a pdf very complicated with many links. I need to link individual file words that are in a series of folders. How can I connect to a folder instead of just a file?

If you set the link to the PDF files, then use the command "Go to a page view", then link to the specific location in the file that you want to run when the user clicks on the link. If you have a link to other file formats, then use the command "open a file". Remember that these links are relative (if the other file is on the same drive as the source file), so if you move the PDF file you need to move these files and folders with him or the links are broken.
