  (1) If you need to use them, then you have insufficient knowledge to use them safely.

  (2) If you have enough knowledge to use safely, you need not use them.

   

  Yes, in * some * conditions, they can do a great job - but ONLY when the machine is absolutely stable and the user checks each change before allowing it.

  too many times, I saw people with installs Office-type (where some elements are install overuse first) which is irretrievably broken by using a registry clean, because dependent registry entries are removed by the cleaner. The only solution is therefore a complete uninstall/reinstall the product, and maybe even that does not work properly.

  The raw numbers of '' correction '' produced by these tools look impressive - but are inconsequential in the scheme of things, actually, and make almost no difference to the functioning or the speed of the PC.

  There is no substitute for the knowledge - and a static program cannot know everything on a non-static PC installation.

  Please read the two-liner again - it is the declaration of the device here.
  In my humble OPINION, it is not a good registry cleaner - and almost certainly never can be, as he would have to know each possible set of registry keys for every piece of software that can be installed on the computer in question. Some are not trying to do anything of the sort - they just look "dead links" and try and remove them (perhaps recursively). These are the most dangerous kind.
  There are others who make exceptions for well known application registry entries - but the lower the standard deviation takes the user and the 'clean' into unfamiliar territory with potentially disastrous potential.
  If I'm a cleaning system to the top, the last thing I look at is the registry - and I can use a cleanser to help record to do manual labor, but I NEVER allow him to remove anything until I checked or manually researched.
  I NEVER recommend registry cleaners 'Joe Public' - and if I happen to find one on the client machine I have delete or disable immediately and inform the customer why.

  Before you fall back, I have a rule! The rule is first read my full question and not talk about new windows (Windows XP and later versions). Improve speed on Windows 9 x computers registry cleaners? They challenge or perhaps prevent accidents? Cause I heard that a very large registry could slow down the computer's startup time and even crash the computer. I know that this problem has been fixed in NT-OS (including Windows XP and Vista), due to a disc structure different from the registry, improved memory management and indexing. But I speak only Windows 9 x computers. So do registry cleaners work?

  Not really.  The registry is just a database.  Have a lot of data does not slow, because a database of answers to questions.  Google is the database of massive massive massvie, and it is not slow.  And it should return billions of results.

  Let me start by saying from the beginning using registry cleaners is a bad idea, and it is not recommended for the average user.

  Let's get into the details as to why you don't want to use a registry cleaner. Your computer registry is the brain. It is where your computer keeps its database of configuration settings and options.  When you have learned to walk your brain stored this information and kept in a sealed off the coast of the section of your brain, it's your computer. When your computer has learned how to run a particular program, it updates this information within the registry.

  Here's what looks like your registry database.

  

  Most of the time, it doesn't matter what are these different categories, we're not going to mess with them. This is just a general if you see this screen, so you know what you're watching.

  So what is a registry cleaner and why is it sometimes advisable to launch. A registry cleaner announces that it will enter into your registry and delete all files that are no longer needed. By removing these rogue registry files, your computer will be theoretically run faster and better.

  What are rogue registry files? When you uninstall a program, it should remove all traces of itself from your computer, including the registry files. Not all programs do correctly or even can do it properly. So when the program is uninstalled its existence can still live in your registry. To bring the analogy to your brain, if you have a traumatic event (in this case the traumatic event on your computer by uninstalling the program) your brain will help you forget, it happened, but it's still there. Even if you uninstall this program there are traces of it that still exist.

  Then uninstall a program is not really uninstall the program completely and there are programs that will remove these files why would I not do? It's simple, really, most registry programs will cause more problems than they solve. Registry cleaners are trying to identify programs and registry files is no longer, your computer needs and remove them which are very well if it is a 100% guarantee that it delete only what is really necessary should be deleted.

  The problem is that they do not guarantee that and some may eventually give false positives and accidentally delete registry files needed for your computer to act and function properly.

  You know the risks and can always wants to go with a registry program, there are some things you can do to protect yourself at least.

  1. Make sure that the program you are purchase or acquisition is from a reputable company
  2. Ensure that you have the latest version of the software for your operating system and the program is designed to work on your operating system
  3. Make sure that it backs up your registry database before you start to go through the deletion of all.

  Ensuring that you take at least measures to protect you when you run a registry cleaner that you find that you get good results. Most of the time but if you don't know then let it be. There are many other solutions available that can help you keep your computer running efficiently, personally, I would recommend this read computer maintenance and its importance, but I may be biased.

I think I need TO unload... like 'spring cleaning' annual rite therefore, examination of the occasional reg cleaner as part of the interview... with more regularly done sfc/scannow, diskcheck to find errors, disk and reg defrags and deleting temporary files daily.
